It’s not the easiest place to get to, the inside space is cramped, and it’s on the expensive side. However, all that is worth the trouble because this is the best quality sandwich place in the area that I’m aware of — they do a great job making whatever you want on the spot with a diverse bunch of fresh ingredients to choose from. I’ve been here a couple dozen times or so(usually getting some kind of egg & cheese wrap) and never had a bad meal. Great place to pick up a few sandwiches for a group.

I have been to this establishment many times. The only reason it is still in business is because the east side historically had no competition. The coffee is overpriced, weak, and in ridiculously wasteful styrofoam cups(get with the times). The staff is rude and unhelpful. The baked items are nothing more than mass-produced junk from a big retail store, also overpriced. The physical ‘restaurant’ is cramped and has absolutely no real seating. You can’t even get in the door with a stroller, and it is definitely not handicapped accessible in any fashion. If you are able-bodied, walk another block to the bagel shop, Dunkins or the Cranberry Café. Or make your own coffee(gasp) in the time it takes to get to the front of the stupid line on a weekend morning!

It’s great whenever they pick up the phone. Last 3 times I tried to call and make an order it just kept ringing. 7:00 on a friday… no answer?

The owner«Billy» is very rude and disrespectful. Shouldn’t even own a business. Point blank.

The only thing I have ever ordered here is a breakfast sandwich and coffee because once you have had a breakfast sandwich at Sidewalk that is all you can think about getting. I am not a fan of English Muffins but somehow the bacon, egg, & cheese on an English here is literally the best breakfast sandwich I have ever had. I used to walk 20 mins one direction for this thing even in a hungover stupor. I moved out of Southie a year ago and the saddest part for me is the fact that I can’t walk to Sidewalk on a Saturday or Sunday morning. Sure there is sometimes a line here but its well worth the wait and they move so quickly it’s not even an issue. Not a good place to sit down since there are only few chairs against the window and its pretty cramped but it’s more of a take out place anyway. Hoping that next time I am in Southie I can swing by Sidewalk Café!

Tucked away in a random side street in southie you’ll find the sidewalk café. 5 stars when it comes to coffee and sandwiches. They have so many coffee flavors! At least 1⁄3 of them are brewed the rest are flavor shots. Snickerdoodle and marshmallow are my go to. Remember cash only.

Good slices, salads, and sandwiches. Coffee is excellent but a little pricy. Fast service even when the line is long. Women who work there are nice and always professional. Wish they weren’t cash-only because I feel like I’d buy more if I didn’t have to pay in cash.

Sidewalk has recently become my new favorite coffee place in Southie. The mocha coffee flavors are strong and taste great without being too sugary. I especially love the Almond Joy — there’s a ton of fun flavors to try. I recommend trying their breakfast sandwiches — I got an egg cheese and tomato on an English muffin. The portion of the egg was so big it was a little messy to eat but I can’t complain about that! If you go on a weekend morning and see a line, don’t let that turn you away — it moves quickly! It’s usually a mix of people trying to nurse their hangovers with coffee and carbs, with others walking their dogs or grabbing breakfast solo to go. Cash only but there is an ATM inside. The beach is only a few blocks down M street if you’re looking for somewhere to take your food and eat!

Hands down the BEST coffee and breakfast sandwiches in Southie. I left the area 3 years ago, but always stop in when I’m in the neighborhood. Definitely recommend the Banana Hazelnut or Snickerdoodle coffee!

The first time I came here the coffee were way too sweet, but I gave it another shot(with no sugar) and love this place. So far the Funky Monkey is my favorite and I can’t wait to try a breakfast sandwich.

Man I love Sidewalk. If you can make consistently delicious b-fast sammiches and hook me up with my caffeine fix, you’re golden in my book! Classic breakfast sandwiches are awesome. They also have muffins and other pastries which are all good. Dozens of different flavors for coffee so you should find something that you like. Service is always top notch and the folks are always wicked nice/friendly. Sidewalk is open for dinner as well and serves pizzas, sandwiches, and other classic entrees which have all been solid. They provide delivery through Southie too which is a plus. Heads up — they are cash only and have just a couple tables inside so suggest you enjoy your ham, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel elsewhere!

Like many people have said, their coffee and breakfast sandwiches are great! I decided to switch it up and stopped in to grab dinner and some bakery treats, and I’m kicking myself for not branching out sooner. I ordered the chicken teriyaki bowl and got a slice of their banana bread and both were out of this world! The chicken teriyaki came with really flavorful rice and was loaded with vegetables(that were not overcooked — nice!), all in a super tasty sauce. I thought the portions were totally reasonable, which is one of the things I like about this place; the prices are really fair for what you get! The banana bread was also really flavorful and moist, and I think it would be awesome the next day toasted as well. Mine didn’t last that long but I will definitely be coming back to test my hypothesis. All of the bakery items looked amazing and from what I understand they have a new pastry chef so I’m psyched to try out the other pastries! The experience overall was good as usual. It’s a straightforward local joint, perfect for when you want something simple but good. The service is fast and I always feel like I get my money’s worth. It’s cash only but the ATM makes that a nonissue for me, since using cash is a simple way to support a local business.

Open on a really bad snow day! Egg sandwich on English muffin was fantastic! Seems like 2 eggs! The coffee was dumped in the trash. Weak, watery and a waste of time. Get the egg sandwich and move on! Thx for shoveling :)

One star because i had to. Two major issues with this establishment. 1. THEYNEVERANSWERTHEPHONE. We have lived in Southie for almost 4 years, attempted to order from here probably 20 times, and they have answered the phone once. Doesn’t matter the day of the week, or time, THEYNEVERANSWER. 2. The one and only time they did answer, and we ordered, the delivery time was out of control long.

You have to wait a long time for your breakfast if you just walk up, however it will be worth it regardless of what you order. The coffee options are endless, as you can choose to customize your order with tons of flavor shots and combinations. My favorite thing to order is a bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast burrito. They are so good. Seriously superior to other breakfast burritos, though they just come wrapped in aluminum foil. I suggest calling ahead of time and just going to pick up your order. It’s not a sit-down kind of place so you save a lot of time that way. Parking nearby is iffy and I think most patrons arrive on foot. The prices are good and they stay organized even when super busy. One other thing to note is that it’s cash only so plan ahead!

Cash only(ATM inside). Very friendly staff. These breakfast sandwiches are huge! Definitely one of my favorites around. I usually get a bacon or turkey sausage, egg and cheese on an onion bagel and they do not disappoint. They have plenty of ready made breads, coffee cake and muffins. Careful– prime times are anywhere from 745−11am on weekends. You can usually expect a decent sized line! Sometimes that prevents me from choosing Sidewalk for breakfast. I suggest calling ahead for food, then heading over and waiting in line for a coffee. Their coffee is definitely similar to Mary-Lou’s. So many iced coffee flavors with a variety of syrups. Favorites– snicker doodle, smores & peppermint patty. Some of them are pretty sweet so I’ll cut the amount of pumps in half. As for lunch/dinner, I’ve had a few Sidewalk pizzas and they’re great. The BBQ chicken is good! I’ve also had the mozzarella sticks and those were pretty good too. I usually lean more toward breakfast when I come to Sidewalk, though.

Cash only. Big fan of their flavored iced coffees– the closet thing Boston has to Mary Lou’s! FYI-the large is HUGE.

I’ve tried a couple different coffee shops in the Southie and have always enjoyed myself but nothing rocked my world. While we were looking for houses my realtor always pointed out this spot mentioning the line. He said there is always a line and in this part of town that is key to success. We passed it so many times that I couldn’t resist walking down the first day we were in the house. Couple things to note when going: –expect the line there is usually only one person working the counter. –know what you want it’s a coffee place people want to be in and out. There are a TON of choices so this is key. — this like many Southie institutions is cash only.

I came here kinda late on the weekend so there was a line on the weekend, our bad. I got an egg and cheese on english muffin, and the egg was perfect with great cheese, I just wish the sandwich had been toasted. Be sure you wait a bit so the cheese can melt. I also got a strawberry smoothie which was fantastic(but kinda small for $ 4.00). Service was… interesting. Three people running around one register where you don’t get charged for anything until after you get your drink. How about one person on register and two people making drinks? I just felt confused and like I was in the way of other customers.
