Probably one of the worst things I have ever eaten. My friend and I ordered the Cold Sesame Noodles, which were described as cold noodles with Sesames, Ginger and Peanut sauce with vegetables. What I received was a cold pile of egg noodles, the only vegetables in sight was a sad pile of cold cabbage on the side drizzled in what I think was soy sauce, and what I can only describe as Jif peanut butter mixed with water. No ginger, no sesame, straight up peanut butter and water. My friend had a mountain of sesame seeds on top of her dish and she brought it back to the truck politely explaining that she did not enjoy the meal and asked if she could order something else. She got some push back and they told her that she could not have anything for free, she would need to pay 50%, to which she stated that they could keep the food, she was going to go elsewhere to get something for lunch. At this, they finally caved and allowed her to order another dish, which she described as equally awful(I believe it was the Kung Pao Chicken?). I will not be returning.

Decentl lunches for the price and great variety. Have had their fish and tofu offerings. Not the best Chinese food I’ve had but for lunch it’s pretty good.

I really liked their general tsao’s chicken with rice and hot and sour soup. The vendor is super friendly as well. Just don’t order their sweet and sour chicken!!! But I always look forward to their lunches on mon wed fri outside mass general hospital. :)

This review is for the Mass General Hospital location. This place has to have the worse Chinese food or at least the worst Chinese dish. I tried it for the convenience, but also the curiosity of Chinese food in a truck. I decided on the peppery steak w/rice and it was a bad choice. I don’t really eat peppers, so I didn’t try it and I hate onions. I know both vegetables add flavor to the dish and compliments the sauce, but it was a poor relationship. The sauce really had no flavor to it and the beef was really bad meat like the ones they have had in a freezer for awhile and when you cook becomes all stringy. And there was no seasoning to the meat. I did not finish it and was very disappointed. I do not think I will try this place again.

Perhaps I’m a bit embarrassed to say this, but I actually look forward to it when the Savory Food Truck comes to my block. I’ve been eating at versions of this place since I was a college student at MIT(it has trucks at MIT and a number of hospitals, as well as in the Back Bay). I’m always up for the Super Spicy Chicken, the Eggplant Chicken, or the Lemongrass Chicken. I’ll admit that I find their Mapo Tofu to be a bit strange(by traditional Mapo Tofu standards). If I’m extra hungry, I’ll add a tea egg to my meal. The lady that runs the truck is always very friendly and is quite generous at times. All in all, this place is part of a great food truck chain that I’ve been visiting for over a decade.

I’m torn. The spring rolls with the dipping sauce were some of the best I’ve had, however they were super greasy. The Generals Gao’s chicken on fried rice, looked awesome, but was a little bland. I love the fact that they put the sauce from the chicken over the rest of the rice, and that they have a ton of vegetables and water chestnuts thrown in, but the chicken just didn’t do anything for me.

At 6 – 7 dollars for one entrée plus rice, the food here isn’t cheap. But the quality of food is poor. Most of the entrees are greasy. The teriyaki seemed tasty though. Some of the fried chicken or fish items are never crispy. Instead they taste stale as if they were stored and fried repeatedly to a strange combination of hardness and sogginess. Also, the 6 – 7 dollar lunch box contains way too much rice and too small a portion of the actual entrée. The only reason to eat here would be the poor variety of Asian food in Boston.

I’m really surprised by the low ratings. The price is good, food is tasty, serving speed is fast. What else more do you expect from a food truck? It only comes to Back Bay(Copley Square North at Clarendon St) once a week, and I’m waiting for that day every week. Black Pepper Beef w/Rice is the highlight of the menu. Best Black Pepper Beef w/Rice in Boston!

I’m surprised by the negative reviews, because I really liked my ginger scallion chicken and spring rolls. While I thought the spring rolls were a bit greasy, they were big and well-filled. Ginger scallion chicken was not super ginger-y, but it was light and tasty, and had plenty of vegetables with it. Now, if this is the sister to the truck on Louis Pasteur, I understand the reviews. I had an awful experience there, and never went back. But either the food has improved or the quality varies. Prices are extremely reasonable.

Wow. This is easily the worst food truck I’ve eaten at, and was probably one of the worst lunches I’ve had in a while. I got«Super Spicy Chicken» that was mildly spicy and had no other flavor. Vegetables consisted of a couple tiny broccoli pieces and some sort of white vegetable(cabbage, I think?). All tasted oily yet without any flavoring, and the chicken was low-quality meat. You’re better off elsewhere. Anywhere. Burger King would be a better choice.

Savory Food Truck makes savory food on one day every year… Opposite day. Make sure you go on opposite day only — it’s the only day I can honestly call the food good. My Fried Pork Chop was a mealy, soggy mess, and the underlying cabbage was a slimy nightmare. The Teriyaki Chicken and some sort of daily special Spareribs were reasonably edible, but I think that’s the best it gets…

It’s bad. I went to the truck and out of their menu the girl said there was about 3 items. Out of the three i ordered the«orange» chicken and what I got was something I could have made if I was 12 and didn’t know how to cook. It was a few pieces of cut up chicken, a chinese cabbage I think, rice, and one random piece of broccoli that looked like it got lost. The taste was plain and it’s definitely not worth the $ 6

Like the other person mentioned, it’s cheap but you get what you pay for. My colleagues(total of six of us) and I tried this place, and we all agreed that the food was not good at all. I wouldn’t buy from them again even if they offered me a free meal.

Sure, it’s like $ 5…but you get what you pay for. I ordered ginger tofu, and what I received was clumps of rice and huge chunks of tofu covered in a light, slimy clear fluid that I can only imagine is a mix of oil, MSG and a suspect«other» substance. There were three teeny scallion slices and a couple onion pieces thrown in as the only vegetables. I could detect only the barest trace of a ginger flavor… Maybe they just sprinkled it with a flavored powder before tossing it in the wok? I really wish this wasn’t the primary food truck at BUMC. Never again.

Come early or they may run out. Great because inexpensive and convenient but not all dishes are good. Curry and beef dishes ok but chicken flavors not as great. Better then then the chinese restaurant across from CVS but, not as good as Chinatown eateries. Great service though. Stop here if u want a quick bite and fair price in South End there food will do when your on the run or a short lunch.

This food truck serves food that is extremely variable in quality depending on what you order, but I’ll give it 3 stars because it widens the lunch options for those working at Boston Medical Center and need to get a quick bite to eat! Both the hospital and med school cafeterias are a nightmare at lunchtime, and it’s nice to run across the street, get piping hot food, and spend my lunchtime eating instead of waiting on line. The woman who works there is very friendly, and I often ask her what she recommends that day. Sometimes she’ll ask me what I’m in the mood for(sometimes lighter and healthier, sometimes something with sauce over rice). My favorites are the ginger scallion chicken or the lemongrass chicken. Feel free to ask for a side of vegetables(sometimes green beans or Chinese cabbage). Everything at this truck is $ 6 or less, and I can sometimes make one serving into 2 days worth of lunches. Can’t beat that value!!! This truck recently decreased the days it spends at the Harrison Ave and East Concord St location to only Monday to Wednesday, but now there are some more interesting trucks on Thursday and Friday.
