My favorite after hours spot when I lived in Boston. They bring in great DJs and the party goes all night.

Over priced cover fee, over priced for even a bottle of water. The music is horrid. The people are all in a small room sweating due to lack of cooling. Oh yeah no booze… This club should be for 13 – 17 year olds. Not worth it to go in anyway at all.

TRULY awful… just wasted $ 40 there. First off, the bouncer was too stupid to know that it is possible to have an ID from one state with an address in another! Seriously, how dumb are you? And once he let us in(including the girl with the«questionable» ID) it was $ 20 a person to listen to an awful DJ with no booze. If this is how Boston clubs then it’s no wonder it isn’t taken seriously as a real city

If you are looking for a good time after 1am without the temptation of buying more alcohol this is the place to be. I went on a Saturday night and it was nice. It was a girls night for me and my bestfriend. There is a $ 20 cover charge. A bottle of water cost us $ 4. We loved to dance and the people were fun to dance with as well as respectful when we said no thank you. It was a mixture of techno and house music so you have to do with what you get. It’s a bit pricey to go to all the time but it’s a nice time once in a while.

awful! i went there the cover was OUTRAGEOUS with a 20 dollar charge and then i find out theres no alcohol and the crowd consisted of babies and grandparents NOT how i want to spend my «after hours» in a club. On top of that the bouncers inside were yelling at people obviously on a power trip and the scent of weed and the visuals of 40+ naked guys was also a huge turn off. In a setting like that you NEED a drink. NEVERAGAIN!

No drinks so that was very strange. Cover was around $ 20. If youre looking for a place to chill then it isnt terrible because the music was pretty good. Lots of fog and glowsticks on the upper level so if youre into that… also only place open till 6!

RISEISAWFUL. Do. Not. Go. It is BYFAR the most expensive cover charge in the area, for one. Also, within 5 minutes of realizing this place was terrible, they refused to give us a refund. They had been open for an hour and a half, and the place was empty except for total skeeves, and yet the woman working the counter said, ever so rudely, «Ummm, you DOKNOW we JUST opened right???» They exploit young people by allowing people 18+ in(with no dress code), since anyone under 21 has trouble getting into other places, but let me assure you, you will have a million times better of a night doing nothing more than getting drunk and walking around the city. This is a place to go if you’re looking to get sexually harassed by absolute weirdos. If you adore disgusting, sober people trying to get with young drunk girls, this is the place for you! The facilities are awful. The club is legitimately nothing more than someone’s attic with colored lighting in it. You are far, far better off by staying home and not spending the money on this crappy place. Please, please do yourself a favor and do not go here. Please also do Boston a favor and avoid this place at all costs, and hopefully it will someday shut down, and the world can be a better place without it.

One of the worst decisions that someone else has ever made for me! I recently graduated from college, and I ended up here in one of my last hurrahs as a college student. Oh how I wish I could get my $ 20 and hour back. After missing free cover to another place, I was dragged to a bar/restaurant/lounge/thing(first bad decision). And then some of us still wanted to dance it out, and seeing as how I got us on the guest list I said we should check it out. But upon getting there we realized it would be a $ 20 cover, so I was ready to go home. But then one drunk friend covers another’s cover and I somehow end being forced to go, having to pay to get in, and part of someone else’s cover… what?! This was followed by the drunkies realizing-there is no alcohol?! So we lose one. I tried, i really tried to make the best of the night(and my $ 20), but oh lord I couldn’t. The music was ok. The space was sketchy. The people were interesting, creepy, frightening, and just as upset as me. One hour, one cover and a quarter, and a coat check fee later; I made the best decision I had of the night and went home. How I went from plans of a fabulous cover free night busting a move to going to two sketch holes and paying to get into both still befuddles me. I had seen a line outside of this place after leaving others and always wondered what it was for, and now I know. Oh lord do I know. I know that I should(in the words of one miss Taylor Swift«never, ever, ever, ever» come here again.

Being a huge electronic music and rave fan, I have been here a few times over the years. The absolute best part of the club is that it is one of the few places in all of New England that is open until 6 am. That is awesome. In addition, the sound system is pretty sweet. I also think the décor is pretty cool(feels kind of like you’re in a futuristic dive club or something). However, the club has its setbacks. The crowd has usually been pretty subpar when I have gone. Lots of creepy guys looking to grind up on any girl they see. Lots of annoying drunk college kids going wild since it is their first time away from mommy and daddy. I guess if you stick around really late though, a lot of these people get filtered out. It would just be nice to see more of a crowd that is interested in the music and the culture around it.(maybe it is different now… I haven’t been for at least a couple years) The security can be pretty strict. Once I went with two friends who were girls. At one point in the night they went into a bathroom stall together. A MALE security guard busted in on them and then kicked them out to the cold winter street. The prices are sort of steep, and I know they have increased over the years. I think the first couple times I went it was 10 bucks with student ID, and now I think you are going to be paying at least 20.(maybe I’m wrong?) And yeah, a bottle of water is way overpriced. They should be a dollar or free. I think for what Rise is, it should be 10 dollars, 15 maximum. I guess I have been spoiled with places like Club Therapy and Afterlife and electronic events thrown by organizations like Tight Crew or Mutiny. Club Rise just doesn’t feel like a cool underground ravey kind of club. It feels more like a meat-market club that just happens to have electronic music. I don’t know. It is definitely worth checking out, at least.

This club was FUCKINGTERRIBLE. well at least I thought so. It’s definitely a club for heavy ravers, lesbians, gays, and 40 year olds. It wasnt even like good rave music idk. But there weren’t any good songs to sing along with or recognize. The first floor was dead and the second was crowded and gross. Don’t go there unless you’re into that.

One of the worst clubs I have ever been to. It’s so small, the music is terrible. And to top it all of no bar. The only reason I hive it two stars is because it closes at 6.

Maybe I went on a bad night but basically RISE is a place where one pays $ 20 to be sexually harassed and assaulted. Once inside, one has to wait in a line to pay for drinks and coatcheck. The first floor is the«bar”/coatcheck and also has couches where people awkwardly linger around then just sit down when they feel overwhelmed with the forced mingling. In order to get to the second floor, one has to trek up extremely narrow stairs, which is not fun when tipsy. If the first floor was bad then I don’t even know what the second floor is. I literally could not see a thing because the fog machine was overactive and the lighting was non-existent aside from that one strobe-light. Even with the terrible lighting, there were very few attractive people and about 90% of the male population there were sleezebags. Forget dropping corny lines, these guys would literally grab you by the waist and start randomly thrusting you with their pelvis. If you try to get away, some would let it go and find other girls to grab but others would actually follow you around the club and try to dance with you again. That is vile and disgusting and never in my life have I felt so violated. So I grabbed my friends and left, tripping over drunks and stairs on my way down, but cursing this club and their awful house music and so relieved to be leaving in one piece.

What’s wrong with dancing until the sun comes up? NOTHING!!! Yes, there is no alcohol served,(thanks to Boston’s liquor laws), and the crowd tends to get a little creepy the closer you get to 6am, but when you’re not ready to call it a night & want a place to hang out with friends, this is totally the place!

RISE… what memories. Great place to go and have a blast with friends or on your own. I went for the Saturday of PRIDE last June and met some really cool people. You do have to respect the security there, as I saw someone getting in trouble for something while I was trying to take a leak in the bathroom.(The guy was on some something and seemed to be selling). It is good to know that the staff are doing their job though! Great vibe, friendly people, and a hip venue. Honestly best night out, danced away until 6am. The only downside is the cover fee, but it is WELLWORTHIT for an atmosphere that is classy and yet down to earth, full of people just being people. Very open minded, gay friendly, straight friendly, people friendly. Just go. You won’t regret it. Music is great — when I went there was a lot of dance/house music which is jsut what I wanted but it really depends on the DJ.

Let me just start by saying, this place is not for everyone. For example: –If you don’t like dancing your butt off till 6AM, while no one messes with you or tries to feel you up, then this place is not for you. — If you don’t like going to places that lack a strong population of drunk douchebags, then this place is not for you. — If you don’t like boys dancing with boys and everyone just been who they are and not bugging everyone else, then this place is not for you. — If you don’t like places that won’t have your token: «I’m too drunk I can’t walk down stairs» girl or the«I can’t dance, this dress is too short» girl, or the«my heels are so high I can only sway side to side» girl, or the ever popular«my made up face has currently sweated down to my chest» girl; then this place is definitively not for you. However: — If you like dancing amongst some of the least judgmental and nicest folks you’ll ever meet, then this place is for you. — If you like random cute boys coming up to you with free(close bottle) water so that you can re-hydrate and keep on dancing, then this place is for you. — If you like the DJ’s addressing you personally and letting you know how they’re happy you’re having a good time and later on wishing you a great morning(yes, morning) and sending you on your safe way, then this place is for you. — And If you enjoy dancing your butt off to some of the best EDM you’ll ever hear in the Boston area, then this place IS definitively for you Give it a try, you won’t forget the night anytime soon…

You are Alice in freaking Wonderland at a place like Rise. There were black lights everywhere, glow in the dark body paint, a semi-nude chick getting body painted, people massaging each other’s heads, crazy outfits, hypnotic trance and house music overtaking every ounce of people’s bodies. And Halloween night. Well, that was the best night of my life. You’ve got your gay, straight, bi, transgenders, 40-year old ripped men that dress like sailors. They dance with women, then make out with them. They dance with men, then make out with them. Wait– what? Rise is Rise. It’s all love, baby.

This review is for the staff of Rise. Honestly, I have a lot of gratitude toward anyone who’s worked as security for a club. Their job is to ensure safety and protect people, and unfortunately the job responsibilities include having to deal with drunk douche bags and hot messes who can’t hold their own. It’s only natural that they get annoyed every now and then. This is what I was expecting when my bag was stolen at Rise. Even though I was stone-sober, I felt like approaching the staff for help would only be met with looks of shame. As I approached the first staff member and explained the situation, he actually looked me in the eye and said«Wow, that sucks. Let’s see what we can do to help you out…» and took out his flashlight. He also walked with me to other staff members to ask if they’re seen anything, all of whom also seemed sincerely fine with helping me out. Long story short, the bag was recovered at the end of the night with a few items missing. Regardless, when I found it, I turned around and hugged two of the security guys(though I’m sure they get a lot of strange affection at a place like Rise). I thanked them for being helpful and not making my night any worse. They smiled and said they were glad it worked out. So all in all, this review is meant as a «thanks». Thanks for doing your job well. We know it’s tough to do what you do, but it’s respected.
