My fiancée and I did some research before choosing a club to visit for our 1 year anniversary. We chose Icon based on other reviews we found, but we were unfortunately disappointed with our experience. We came on a Friday night at about 10:45 so that we could miss a long line. One plus about this club is that security was tight, everyone had to show IDs twice, purses were searched, and men patted down. Once we made it inside, we paid a $ 25 cover for each of us. We know now to purchase tickets online and join the VIP line that gets you in faster. The club itself was nice, very clean. There are two rooms for dancing with different music. That night the smaller room had Indian club music and the bigger room had trance/popular dance music. There are 2 bars and bottle service tables in the bigger room and one bar in the smaller room. The drinks were a tad expensive, but it is Boston. We paid $ 22 for a beer and a cocktail. There are bathrooms downstairs with many stalls and bathroom attendants, however it’s still pretty easy for someone who is drunk to accidentally walk into the wrong bathroom. The actual experience was disappointing. The smaller room was popping with Indian club music, but the main room was completely dead and the music was severely lacking. We staid until 1am and by then only a small group of people had gathered. I understand this probably isn’t the club’s fault, but it was a Friday night in the middle of June, and I was hoping for a much busier atmosphere. It really left us wanting. So because of the lack of atmosphere, mediocre music, and high prices, I would say skip Icon.

Homophobic. $ 25 cover. Terrible atmosphere. Weak ass drinks. Fat bouncers. Shitty music. Ugly clientele. Damn, where do I begin? The place is terrible. Just save your money and time and go to literally any other bar in Boston. You’ll have a much better time and probably save some money too.

If there was a zero-star option I would choose it. WARNING: This place will scam you out of your money. When we came inside to pay, they told us cover was $ 30 on Saturdays, so I paid $ 30, only for the women at the counter to say that it should have been $ 20 because we had a table reserved beforehand. After immediately politely asking for my $ 10 back, they said that they«cannot give you back your money after you pay». I have never heard of a business refusing to refund you for charging the incorrect amount. They knew that we had a table reserved(we were on a list), yet they refused to refund us after charging us the wrong amount. After trying to speak to the manager and explain to him it wasn’t about the money, its about the principle, he said they are not allowed to give you back your money even if the women at the door charged you the wrong amount. Absolutely ludicrous, especially after spending hundreds of dollars on a table beforehand. I will not be coming back to this club and warn anyone reading this review to think twice before coming here.

My «Ciroc» tasted like rubinoff. All my friends felt sick after buying drinks here. They are so clearly not serving what they advertise and that is horrible and scary. $ 15 a drink too, to make matters worse. Music is awful, atmosphere is awful I’m mad I wasted my time going.

One of the better clubs in Boston for sure. The house DJs are pretty good and they seem to draw a good crowd most nights. I don’t think I’ve been here without having a table, so my review may not be the most accurate because obviously that’s a very different experience. The table minimum is $ 700 which is actually way cheaper than most clubs. Security is ok, they don’t get too aggressive with the pat downs or anything I mean it’s all pretty standard. Definitely an international crowd during the school year and even in the summer when I went it didn’t seem like there were a lot of American people there. This place can get really packed so I probably would recommend splitting a table with some friends if you can. It’s nice to have a place to stand or chill that’s not right in the middle of the dance floor. If I visit Boston again I would definitely consider coming here again. If you don’t like straight EDM though, Whiskey Saigon is a better choice.

We have been there a couple times and every time we0ve been there we have had issues with the alcohol and felt TERRIBLE. We can go crazy at night, but not at that level. We believe the alcohol there is not what they are selling. If you go there, be careful with what you drink!

Boston doesn’t have night clubs, they have zoo’s. Late at night, the animals(girls) come out to the watering whole for a sip, in hopes the dominant primates(males) can go home to something other than a bad accent.

It’s a very class-less nightclub. They let it more people than their capacity. There is less than usual amount of booze in their drinks. Their entrance fee is more than normal. Very rude employers. Not fun at all to sum up!

My girl friend took me to Icon for a friend’s birthday celebration. We had gotten there before 11 so we didn’t have to pay the $ 25 to get in. Getting there early meant that there weren’t many people there, but it gave us time to enjoy the birthday celebration, drinks and catch up. The table came with a bottle of grey goose(and juices to mix it) and champagne, not of which were delicious. In no time the club filled up. Everyone was so polite(club goers and the staff) the facility itself was beautiful and clean, including the bathrooms. When looking at the party aspects of the club, the music was great, all night long, and there weren’t any repeated songs. The light display was great and made the dance experience even better and the coolest part by far was watching one of the waitresses ride through the club on a spaceship to deliver bottles to the tables. Not kidding… This place was so fun and the best club experience by far in Boston.

I should’ve have known better than to expect a seamless clubbing experience in Boston. Although Boston isn’t particularly known for it’s amazing club scene, I couldn’t miss a favorite Trance DJ of mine. I’ve been to many clubs in my life and this one was… well… meh. We waited in line for about 20 – 30 minutes for some reason. I am not sure as to whether they were trying to create curb appeal or what, but when a club that closes at 2:00 am can’t manage get people in for 10:00 pm, I have a problem. Time is money for us too. My other issue was with someone who I will assume was the club’s manager. This guy should learn some decorum. He said, very audibly, he was«going to be lenient with the trance people». I am going to safely assume was about the dress code. None of the trance people looked homely, sure they weren’t dressed to the nines, but they looked well put together. If that manager is reading this, this is all I have to say to you: THISISBOSTON, NOTNEWYORK, MIAMI, LOSANGELES, VEGAS, ORIBIZA. NORISICONSTUDIO54, so please slow your roll when disrespecting patrons who fill this«club». Learn some professionalism and tell your staff beforehand if it bothers you so much. The only real upscale thing about this venue is they charge upscale prices for drinks. Again, this isn’t one of the cities I named above, so $ 14 for a house vodka and club is ridiculous. All in all, the club’s layout is nice, but small. The system is loud and the people, in the trance room at least, were friendly and ready to have a good time! I would probably never ever ever set foot in this place for a regular«club night», whatever that means in Boston. This place could improve, but I doubt it.

Came here one night. Great atmosphere and I had fun dancing and going on Tinder to see who’s nearby. Why 1 star? I ordered a beer($ 7), got charged for 3($ 21) and told the bartender when she gave me the receipt. Another bartender came back and said«don’t worry about it.» so I assumed it was voided or canceled. BTW, I DIDNOT sign the receipt when I first got it because I’m not paying that. A few days later, I look at my transactions and what do I see? $ 23 taken out of my account from YOUGUESSEDIT — ICON.(It was processed. during the wait, I was hoping it was a mistake). I was so mad. I got charged for 3 drinks when I only bought one, and then someone adds a tip and forges my signature? And I was completely sober when all this happened. Never going back.

If you arrive early enough you won’t be on line for very long. No issues with any of the staff like some people here mentioned. Of the security staff Dana and Michael were the chillest. Ana that works as the attendant for the ladies room was also very nice. The lighting girl for the side room was cool too although I forgot her name. It’s nice to see that there’s a diverse group employed here. There’s two rooms, the main room kinda felt like a meat market and the music in there was a bit too commercial for my tastes so I stayed in the side room where things were much less pretentious. Although it wasn’t nearly as packed as the main room the vibes were good. My first drink tasted a little off. I think the taps for the tonic water need to be cleaned out or may be there was a malfunction because it kind of tasted like tap water. I switched to sprite and then it tasted ok. The drinks are on the more expensive side but I guess the venue is attempting to seem more upscale. I haven’t went to many other Boston clubs so I really don’t have much to compare it to on that front. One bad thing that happened to my friend was towards the end of the night it turns out the bartender gave her credit card back to the wrong person. What a nightmare, she attempted to walk around to see if she still saw the person and I guess she eventually found them. It was pretty loud in there so I am not sure about the details of how my friend sorted that out with her but she’s lucky she got it back otherwise someone woulda got fired! The layout itself is nice and I like that there are two rooms. The sound is decent and the lighting and led displays are also cool. They definitely enhance the night for sure. I think if you go with a group of friends as I did you will have a good time. It sucks that the night ends at 2am in Boston tho but that’s okay you can always afterparty somewhere. One thing that did urk me about the experience was we got stuck in our Über for like 40 minutes due to some knob that was blocking the main road in front of the club because some other car cut him off and he wouldn’t move his car until the other dude apologized. Neither of these meatheads were backing down and the crowds coming out and interjecting into the situation only exasperated the problem even more. Eventually the cops were called and the flow of traffic was restored. Of course this was no fault of the club itself they were just trying to clear people away from the venue now that it was closing. Lesson learned next time I call an Über I am going to walk a few blocks down and use an address closer to a main road.

This place is awful. We went for New Year’s Eve, so I can forgive that it was overcrowded and filthy. But some things were so bad, even it being New Year’s can’t explain it. 1. We got a table(which cost a ridiculous amount of money, but ok, we knew going in). The«table» was tiny, about 24″ by 18″, and located ONTHEMAINDANCEFLOOR. Actually right on the dance floor. I’ve never been to a club that had tables located like this. The table only had a booth on one side, so the other 3 sides were open to the floor. This meant that only two people could sit at a time, and strangers were constantly pushing us and taking our drinks when they thought we weren’t looking. The girl serving our table was nice enough but functionally useless. Don’t get a table here, it’s a joke. 2. They charged us for the most expensive champagne(which inexplicably cost something like $ 900 for a single bottle) because they claim they asked us that night if we wanted it. We happened to be a group of mostly non-English primary speakers and we happened to all be drinking. There’s no record that they asked us, but unfortunately, at the end of the night, we signed the receipt. There was a lot of confusion, so we just assumed the best — that we were signing for the original cost of the table, which was already paid — and left, it being New Year’s Eve and all. However, now they refuse to refund us. We even talked to the owner. This is an unfortunate series of events, but I can’t help but think they really prey on people. This is a dishonest place. We should have heeded the other reviews. Don’t waste your time or money.

I love nightclubs! Icon is not a nightclub. I have never wished I could give fewer than 1 star but I’ve finally found such an egregiously overpriced, underrated place that I wish I could give –5. And I didn’t even pay the cover! Overall, people are horrible – seemingly only there because someone waived their cover fee or gave them some other promotion. Bouncers are self-righteous despite working for a new, non-established place. Advice: instead of going here, go literally anywhere else in the greater Boston area

1 star for décor, 1 star for sound quality, everything else was pretty bad. We had tickets to see EDX but still had to wait in line, no big deal. We only waited a few minutes and then there was a quick search. But upon getting inside there was only 1 line for buying tickets as well as presenting them if you had them already, which was annoying. My friend asked about going out for a cigarette and we learned there was no reentry before 12:30, also annoying. The coat check was $ 4, and our tickets only cost $ 15. So now I’m holding onto my coat. The drinks are $ 14. And worst of all, the dance space is absolutely surrounded by VIP tables and extremely crowded, so you can’t dance to close to the edges for fear of knocking over someone’s Dom. There were also like 20 bouncers placed around the club, which seemed like overkill, but whatever. However, there were also an unusually large number of absolutely sloshed people. I saw at LEAST5 people being carried out by their friends. I have never seen that to such an extent in Boston. Bouncers seemed to be turning a blind eye. And then at one point some guy grabbed me and was not letting go, I had to push him off me, no bouncer to be seen. So yeah, if you like overpriced, mediocre clubs with useless security and overly drunk clientele, this place is for you.

Yikes, I reeeeeally reeeeeeally wish I loved Icon. Like, REALLY wish I did. Icon is the new up and coming club, now specifically dedicated to hosting trance events around once or twice a month thanks to the promoter groups Transcend and The Vanishing Point. This is a huge step for Boston’s trance scene, and when I found out about this, I was fcking ecstatic. I glorified Icon in my mind – it was going to be my Cielo replacement in Boston! It was going to be my everything! I was going to be there at least one weekend every month and I was going to love this place! Unfortunately, none of the above happened. This place is NOT my Cielo replacement by any means, as much as I had hoped it would be. Icon is split into two rooms. There’s what I deem the trance room where all the beloved shows I attend are held, and another hip hop /top hits /whatever else they play in there room. That area is a black hole to me. The trance room(maybe this is the side room, whatever, it’s the trance room to me) is very small and intimate. There are couches lining two sides of the room which is what I’m assuming are the«VIP» areas, though as the night progresses they let us freely sit there if no one buys tables(and for trance shows, no one ever does). The DJ booth is elevated way high above one of the two bars(one in the back and one in the front where the DJ booth is located). All this is fine and dandy, it’s *veeeery* close the the Cielo layout and I was at least pleased through most of the night. Then 12AM hit, and it’s like all the people in the hip hop /top hits /whatever room decided they were all drunk and wanted to wander around Icon. I tend to stand at the back of the venue, as there is more space, and I consider it a safe area where I can dance without being squished against other people. Icon unfortunately has some obnoxious swinging door that leads from the trance room to the hip hop /top hits /whatever room. As the night progressed, more and more people from the hip hop /top hits /whatever room started to swing open this goddamn door and burst into the trance room. Literally, this door was swinging around so often I was starting to get pissed. And apparently one of the favorite props from the hip hop /top hits /whatever room is this stupid rocket or missile looking thing and they freaking swing this door open and lug it through the trance room every. single. goddamn. event. The trance room at Icon is SMALL, and this back area was literally the only area that had a decent amount of space. The other annoying thing is that typical to all other Boston clubs, people get dolled up probably because they have no other occasions to do so(yes, I’m hardcore hating on the Boston club scene). People dress as if this place is Marquee or Lavo in New York, and the venues support and promote this to the extreme. I’m used to casual club environments where people have on t-shirts and are there to enjoy the music, NOT where people are looking for an excuse to look pretty, go clubbing, and get drunk. The past couple of events, they’ve also had the audacity to shut the event down before 2AM and cut the DJs off mid-song. Then the bouncers are incredibly rude to everyone trying to get everyone out because«they just want to go home.» I haven’t been able to avoid this place because I will always go support the DJS that I love, but this is no Cielo, and that alone breaks my heart.

I don’t do night club life too much, mainly because I can’t stand paying the cover, but it was my friends birthday. Her boyfriend got a table, which included enough room for two small women to sit… They had two different rooms, the main room with the DJ booth and lights etc. and then another room with more of a hip-hop/top 40 music thing going on. The stage/dj booth was pretty impressive and you can get very close to the stage. It was fun, good vibe, but I still don’t see the benefit of paying $ 25-$ 30 to come in here really. The only thing it gets you is less drunk college kids because they can’t afford it(haha) If you’re into the DJ/club/flashing lights, spending lots of money thing, then I’d try it out

Came here on a Sunday night to see a show with the SO and some of our friends. The entrance to the venue looks pretty nice, as is the area that you encounter upon first going inside, but the actual stage itself is pretty small and doesn’t have the best ventilation. While the size is great for being super up close to the artists/DJ’s, it gets crowded and congested very easily. The perimeter of the stage is surrounded by tables that have pretty cool lighting(including the menus, so you can actually read them — huge fan of this!), but this means that servers are just constantly moving through the crowds to try to get to the tables. The bartenders are pretty friendly, although I’m a bit miffed that they don’t have sugar-free Red Bull. Otherwise, no complaints. Drink prices are also fairly reasonable/standard. Definitely wouldn’t mind coming back in the future for other events.

*Rant On* In Boston, it’s rare for me to personally run into any issues with bouncers. It’s Boston after all, so the clubs are mediocre, and their job is really to check IDs and manage the line(if there is one). So, you’d imagine my surprise, when a bouncer singled out one of our girls in the group during a concert event that we had tickets to, telling her to get out of line because she was drunk. I’m polite, so I asked him why he thought that, because she wasn’t. He told me that we could all get out of line to «sort» things out so we wouldn’t slow down the line. *Looks back, and sees no one else behind us* Okay. So again, since I’m polite, we get out of the line, to inquire again on why the bouncer was so determined that she was drunk and couldn’t be let in. The reason? She dropped her wallet. Wow. So, Mr. Bouncer, if you drop your flashlight, am I to also assume you’re drunk? If you can’t figure out my age by looking at my ID and doing some simple math, am I to assume you couldn’t graduate high school, and are therefore forced to contribute to society as a bouncer? I sure hope he never had dreams of being a lawyer, since the basis of that explanation could have been better presented by a toddler. So, I again insist that she isn’t drunk, and asked if she could perform some sort of sobriety test such as walking in a straight line. No, says the bouncer, he’s been doing this for TEN years, so he knows a drunk when he sees one, he says. I would get angry, but I just feel so bad for the bouncer and his ten years of seniority, that his power trip is probably the only thing that gets him going in the morning. ICON, you may need to reconsider your employee vetting practices. The way this was handled, was not what a bouncer should be here for because if a girl dropping an ID is in anyway a danger to others, or herself, you’re definitely doing it wrong. I’ve never set foot into this establishment because of that night, and neither will I ever again.

Would give this place negative stars if I could. Came on Friday night, one of our friends was on crutches. Bouncer was a douche. We were not trying to cut, but asked if our friend on crutches could go in first.(He probably shouldn’t have gone out on crutches anyway, but he was there to support a friend’s birthday). The bouncer could have just told us politely that he had to wait, but instead he was incredibly rude. My other friend then spoke to another bouncer who said«I want to get you guys in, but let me get rid of these guys in front of you first…» SWEARONMYLIFETHISHAPPENEDNEXT… My group of friends were all Caucasian(plus me, an Asian). The group of six guys in front of us were black/hispanic. The bouncer then went up to them and said, «We are over capacity… there is a club down the street playing hip hop though that charges $ 10…» The guys who were waiting in front of us then proceeded to leave and the bouncer let us in. It was BLATANT racism, and I wish we had just left then because I would never want to support an establishment like this. Had our friend not been on crutches(who was already waiting in line for a while), and had our other friends not been inside, we would have just left. We decided to try it out, but when we got through the doors they tried to charge us $ 25 even though we were on the guest list. I understand that guest list ended at midnight, but seriously??? $ 25 cover and there wasn’t even a special DJ or event!!! It was absurd. We will NEVER come here again.

Welcome to the new Icon Night Club, it is essentially the same layout as the old Rumor but with a revamped audio and video system. So if you’ve been to Rumor you won’t be lost. The revamped audio and video system is definitely noticeable in both rooms. In the main room the massive DJ booth sits front and center with state of the art displays surrounding them. In the smaller room the video system is a great backdrop to the bar. They run a variety of different nights here, but regardless this is an establishment where you must dress to impress so collared shirts and dress shoes are a must for guys, if not a sport coat. On the night I went it was mostly hip hop but they are known to do EDM and Latin music in these venues as well. This is one of those places you plan on attending. The door guys can be unfriendly, but can you blame them? There are literally hundreds of people trying to cut the line and name drop on any given night. When I come here I usually RSVP with Ace of 6one7 promotions, this seems to help ease the pain of getting in. Drinks are generally $ 10 –15 and cover charges range from $ 20 — 30.
