I thought Porta Classica in Downton Boston closed down few years ago. I loved this store very much. I still owe some good, nice suits and shoes that I bought from them. Unfortunately, the only stores still operating are in Dorchester and Mattapan. I’m not too crazy about driving to this places. I would love it if they could open another store near down town Boston or better yet, some Mall here in the North Shore.

I’ve accidentally wandered in to this store once before(damn you tricky sale sign!) and the Cosby sweaters, pleather pants, and suits in primary colors drove me right back out. Yipes, this was definitely not my place. That was months ago and I haven’t thought of it again, until today. Did somebody say 80s prom? Why yes, they did. So off through a hurricane(seriously) to the T(which was on fire again or something) to get to DTX. Strolling in a wee 10 minutes before closing Melissa B and I were able to pull a little Sonny Crockett out this fine establishment. Since they lost their lease everything is on crazy sale. Pants, two for $ 10. Suits, buy one get one free. A lot of the merchandise in here is vintage. The closing sale means that they’re cleaning out the basement so they’ve found some clothing that was actually made in the 80s in the back(UM, Gitano, what?). Scary, but handy for the occasion. They may have some actual decent stuff left here but I couldn’t see it for the lavender leather pants, pink gingham suits, and of course the navy/white/black quilted leather pants. Most of the remaining stock is so remarkably special that you really must see it to understand. But get here fast, the 80s are almost over again.
