Music was great! Everyone in the place was having a grand time. Food was just OK. Had the Bangers and Mash. Mash potatoes tasted like the box kind, beans out of a can and there was barely any gravy added. So go for the atmosphere and fun, but grab a bite to eat before getting there.

A well-done Irish pub only 2000 miles from Ireland. We tried two sampler plates, Irish mixed grill(bacon, sausage and steak tips) and Mr Dooley’s Irish sampler(shepherd’s pie, beef stew, and cottage pie). The steak tips were tender and perfectly grilled with a hint of Guinness. The sausage was tasty and seemed authentic. The sampler was heavy on potato mash but fantastic comfort food. Service was a little uneven, but that’s pretty consistent with my experience in Ireland, too. You will not leave hungry or thirsy!

Stumbled upon this place while touring the city and decided to stop for brunch. Great drinks and the food was reasonably price. I’m leaving 2 stars because the waitress let people eat off the plate before she delivered it to our table. Sooooo grossssss!

Good for a few drinks after work or if you enjoy loud, live music. Terry is one of the best bartenders there. He is super personable and really makes the place great!

Came here on a Thursday night after work for dinner and drinks. I got the Shepherd’s Pie which was solidly filling and delicious with creamy, lightly crisped mashed potatoes on top of a rich mix of ground beef, peas, and carrots. I don’t know all that much about alcohol, but I thought it paired well with my cider(which I got because I’m not a huge fan of beer). At $ 13 for the pie, it was definitely a good price for the amount of food I got. The service was patient, and overall the atmosphere was relaxing and I felt like I was in no rush at all. Good drinks and good food!

Food was good. Service was very slow to nonexistent. Waitresses were hanging out talking at the service station. No one on the floor.

Went here with my partner for drinks on Friday night. When I ordered an old fashioned, the bar tender’s face lit up. He took his time crafting what was an excellent drink. He made point of telling me «When someone orders an old fashioned, I make sure to make it right.». Wish I caught his name — he was a lovely Irish bloke. Went for breakfast yesterday morning. The full Irish breakfast was excellent — and a great value. The Irish Eggs Benedict was also good, and a generous portion. Can’t wait to come back.

LOVE this place! First place we walked into our first day in Boston, and everyone there said it is the best bar in the area. The bartenders are awesome! I definitely recommend this place. The clam chowder was SO delicious, as well!

While we were in Boston my fiancé was itching for some live music and we certainly found it at Mr. Dooley’s. We popped in late on a Friday evening and loved the atmosphere of the Irish pub. They have a great selection on draft and drink prices were affordable. However, the best part of this spot is the live music. The band was awesome and the crowd could not have been more into it. We even slowed danced to one song! While Irish pubs are a dime a dozen in Boston Mr. Dooley’s is a head above the rest.

Found this pub close to our hotel. Great food. Great music. Our go-to pub in town. Recommend the Baileys Irish coffee to finish a perfect dinner. The Irish music was top-notch.

We came here for our last meal before leaving Boston and were very pleased! The atmosphere was great with pleasant live music, and the food was plentiful and reasonably priced. A nice, genuine Irish pub. They have a decent sized beer list with a good variety of selections. I ordered the Kerry Mac and Cheese and my friend got the Irish Mixed Grill. Our waitress, who was a lovely woman with a thick Irish brogue, brought our food out extremely quickly. The portions were generous. The only thing keeping me from giving this restaurant 4 stars is that I was unimpressed by the mac and cheese. Sure, it was good. It was creamy and yeah, I did finish the whole thing. But with the way it was described on the menu, I was expecting more flavor. Everything promised was there, but it was a tad bit bland. With that being said, the small side salad and soda bread that càme with it were fresh and delicious. My friend let me try his meal, and it made me wish I’d ordered the mixed grill as well! The steak tips were cooked absolutely perfectly, and the sausage was smoky and flavorful with a nice, crispy outside. Overall, a pleasant experience I am glad to have had.

Fun Irish pub with cool music and pretty decent food. I’ve been to Mr. Dooley’s a few times already and I’m sure I’ll keep coming back. The live bands they have all seem to be pretty solid and I especially love when they play some Irish tunes. There is even occasional dancing. I also appreciate that it is generally easy to get a table(even on weekends) if you show up somewhat early. It is just popular enough to get a fun crowd without becoming annoyingly crowded. The menu is a combination of traditional Irish comfort food, pub grub, and a little New England. I actually thought their clam chowder was very good. It was a perfect, on point, proper Boston-style New England Clam Chowder. Nowadays when I think of traditional clam chowder I think Mr. Dooley’s. It was not overly thick, but not runny. Good amount of clams and good clam flavor. Classic. I also got to try some of their Irish dished including they Guinness stew and the Shepherd’s pie. Both were good, simple, and comforting. A fun time guaranteed.

Every time I come to Boston I have to come here. Amazing selection of Beers and traditional Irish grub that will make you want this every night. I love this place and Terry the bartender is the best guy that will make you laugh. Five Stars only because they don’t have six available.

My boyfriend & I stumbled upon Mr. Dooley’s during a weekend trip to Boston. I have eaten at a couple Irish restaurants before & the food here was delicious. We ordered Kerry’s Mac & Cheese & the Irish Sampler. Our plates were completely finished by the end of the meal! The waitress was very friendly & attentive. I only wish we came here when the live band was playing! Looking forward to coming back on our next trip to Boston!

Great Bar. Really nice people that made this Texan and his wife feel right at home. Since we were staying at the Hilton next door, we made this our outpost for the several nights we were in town. The place has a true Irish feel with people from the Emerald Isle all over the joint including the bartender who had a great sense of humor, and with all this Irish going on we were pleasantly surprised when the band started up and were playing mostly country /western with heavy doses of Willie Nelson in the mix. But hell, I guess we all know that whiskey and Willie go together like butter and bread.

Place is cool. Small little Irish pub! Well stocked with plenty of whiskey! I’d love to be here for Johnny Cash nite on Tuesdays. Place has a good boston northeast feel to eat. The bartender was adorable, sweet and had the perfect accent to really set this place off! Food: we started with the spinach artichoke dip that is homemade. The dip was really good, good taste, defiantly not like the run of the mill dip. Then we ordered the clam chowder to see what all the buzz was about! A cup is huge and had lots of clam chunks in it. Great texture and great taste. This dish sets itself apart from other clam chowder I’d had and definitely recommend it. Also had the steak and cheese wrap. Not bad, had great clean meat and great taste. Washed all this down with Harpon IPA. Like this place and defiantly worth the trip!

This place was barely occupied on a Saturday lunch time, so we stopped in for some food. Husband had the Guinness beef stew & I had a cheeseburger & fries. The food was pretty good, better than Silvertone where we ate last night. The service was adequate & our waitress was very sweet. Two stars lost from a perfect review just because it feels very dirty here. I don’t know if it’s even anything they can do because of the age of the place, but it feels so greasy. Maybe wipe everything down pretty well with some cleaner that cuts through grease, I don’t know. Apart from that, cute establishment & decent food. Probably a fun place to drink beer at night, but it was lunch time when we went, so.

We came here during Labor Day and it was empty. The place has a nice home feel to it. Not very touristy which is a good thing. I ordered the Mac and cheese and it was heavenly. It was perfectly seasoned with the bacon and cheese. The waitress had an Irish accent and is very sweet. The beer menu is amazing and there’s so many to choose from. I ordered the Mr. Dooley’s red ale which taste great. The Guinness looks like it was poured the right way compared to other places that don’t pour it correctly.

My boyfriend and I were in town for my birthday. We had planned to have brunch somewhere else, but missed the brunch service. Apparently, there is not much open on the weekend in the financial district where we were staying so after searching we stumbled upon Mr. Dooley’s. Maybe it’s more of a late night bar, maybe we were late the brunch service, either way, the place was pretty empty, which I’m always skeptical about. I should not have been. We were greeted by a friendly irish girl(complete with genuine irish accent!) and seated immediately. Service was perfect. Our server was super accommodating, super fast and the food was delicious, and seemed super irish(shocking, I know). The menu DID remind me of the scene in ‘My Cousin Vinny’ where they walk in to a place for breakfast, and the items of the menu are«breakfast.» A couple of breakfast dishes and everything else al la carte. If you are looking for one of those places that presents you with a giant book of dining options, this is not the place for you. But I would still suggest just go here, because the food here will be way better.

It was that odd time between lunch and dinner and my parents, boyfriend, and I were looking for a meal. We were seated right away on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Although the restaurant was near full it seemed like only one waitress was truly working the floor. Drink orders took a while as did food orders, but once we placed the food order we didn’t have to wait long to get our meal. I ordered fish and chips and my dad tried to order the same. We were told there was only one order left so we decided we could split it and get an order of bbq chicken wings to share. When the fish and chips came it looked great but it was honestly really really bad. The batter slid off the fish and the fish itself turned to mush when trying to stick my fork in it. The beer flavor from the batter was strong in an unpleasant way(tasted like generic light beer) and the fish definitely had an overly fishy flavor. The fries were a bit too squishy, but the tiny ramekin of coleslaw was good! Hey, brightside! Aside from that disappointment, the wings were decent and the refills on my soda were prompt. My mom raved about her sandwich and my boyfriend seemed satisfied with his beer and meal. All in all I don’t know if it was just an off hour to come or if when they tell you it’s the last order of fish they have it should be a sign to order something else, but I don’t think I would return.

Last night was the first of hopefully many more visits to this Irish pub. Boston offers a plethora of dining options and thanks to Unilocal I quickly determined this would be out feeding, and drinking, grounds for dinner. We took a booth by the open window and right next to a male duo playing Irish folk songs. My SO promptly ordered a Smithwicks and I a Downeast cider. If you’ve never had this Boston brew and like cider, do yourself a favor and try it. Moving on to the menu… you’ll find the traditional Gaelic fare: Shepards pie, Bangers and mash, Traditional Irish Mixed Grill and Kerry Mac and Cheese to name a few. Honestly, it was so hard to decide and I was about to play eenie meanie minee moe to make my selection. I deferred my decision to my SO and he picked the mac and cheese. I was not prepared for what arrived. Large bubbling hot serving of the best mac and cheese I’ve ever had, mixed greens and balsamic, and two slices of brown soda bread(I think. Whatever it was it was delicious abs not too salty) SO had the hot corned beef sandwich with horseradish. He said it tasted good but could have used a little more tenderizing. The musical duo kept my foot tapping the floor the entire time. I don’t even know any Irish folk songs but I thoroughly enjoyed them. I was very tempted to join the other patrons in clapping along but I was too busy stuffing my face. They happily took requests from the guests and even though I didn’t know them I liked every one. I gave 5 stars because I really can’t think of one negative thing from our experience here. Price, serving size, ambiance were all great. I look forward to coming here every time I visit Boston.

Mr. Dooley’s was a must on our trip to Boston, for no other reason than we have a friend named Mr. Dooley and visiting his namesake seemed like the right thing to do. The Guinness is good, but their ability to properly layer it with cider can be hit-or-miss. Make sure it’s the Irish dude doing the pouring if you want it done right. We ordered the Irish Spring Rolls to soak up some of the Guinness, and they were as lovely as the bartender said they were. Crispy on the outside, meaty delicious goodness on the inside. The atmosphere fits with my mental picture of an Irish pub, but I’m definitely sad that I wasn’t there on a night that they had live music.

Was visiting from Chicago when I came in here on a Thursday night… and I’m glad I did. The live music was AWESOME!!! I had so much FUN listening to these two guys! This bar definitely made me feel like I was in Boston… exactly what I had pictured! It had an old school charm to it! And the patrons were just enjoying the music, their drinks, and their company! We stayed at the Hilton in the financial district amd this location was perfect! We started with Mr Dooley’s Curry and Cheese Pub chips. The sauce was good and it hit the spot after a long morning of traveling. I had a Sam summer beer while the hubby had Estrella. No complaints, great selection and service! We shared the Mr Dooley burger and it was tasty! There was also a little Irish music entertainment, a little loud for lunch, but entertaining.

You want Irish? You’ve come to the right place. Being from Southern California it was a treat to get a little taste of some real Irish culture. The place was packed and either we were the only people not for the old country or people from Boston like to have fun faking Irish accents. Mad props to the two piece band playing traditional Irish fold music and to the locals that know how to clog. I knew none of the songs but enjoyed every moment. Great food, friendly staff, awesome music and Guinness beer on tap, want else can you ask for. 5 stars.

The server disappeared twice. Granted, she asked us a question, we talked for less than a minute amongst ourselves and looked back and boom they were gone. The tables were full, but I don’t think they were THAT busy. My server friends will kill me for writing that… I expected a bigger beer selection but they had good options. Music was great, I miss Ireland all the time, and it reminded me of all the things I did try to avoid there because it was too touristy… but it was great here!
