This is a refreshing addition for foods available at an airport. My wife and I shared a lobster salad and the waitress suggested we shared a bowl of clam chowder as well. This combination turned out to be just right. The lobster salad was very good, the clam chowder just ok. Is it just my imagination that the quality of clam chowders has declined in both MA and Maine over the past 5 years since I have yet found one I can call great? For airport food, this earns a 5-star but only a 4-star were the location in town.

Came here with a seafood craving before my flight with not too much time to spare for a leisurely lunch. Luckily, since it was just me, there wasn’t a wait and I sat at the high top table across from the bar. My server took awhile to get to me, but since I was feeling a bit rushed I just took that time to decide what to order. Once she came by, she was friendly and asked about my time constraints which I thought was wonderful – straight to the point so no time was wasted. Once I placed my order I thought she and the kitchen did an excellent job with getting all my food out in a quick(not rushed) manner. I ordered the clam chowder in a mug to start along with the tuna burger with fries. Although it was a hot day, I just had a craving for clam chowder and boy, was I happy to have ordered this! Not only was it delicious and flavorful, it was loaded with clams! That’s the way I like it! The tuna burger was large and tasty, although a bit dry. I liked the aioli type of sauce they had on the burger and just wish there was more of it to help with the dryness. It did come with a small side of cole slaw which helped a bit with the dry factor but also added to the tuna burger flavors and a crunchy texture to the dish. Fries were nicely fried and crispy, not too soft or overly done. I just wanted to note how awesome my server was with timing out my meal! I never waited around looking for her or my next meal because once I was done with my chowder, a minute later came my burger. Although the restaurant was busy and she seemed to have so many tables, I was thrilled with the level of customer service I received. Overall, I was stuffed with all the good food, happy with my order and the customer service. I also had a Bloody Mary which had a nice kick to it, which I always enjoy :) I would definitely return back for lunch or dinner especially if I’m in the mood for seafood. I’d recommend this place to others, however I’d be cautious if you’re in a group. It can be done(I saw a group of 8 have a large table) however, it may take awhile and this place had a wait for awhile for lunch on a weekday.

Love the staff, hated the food. Under seasoned and poorly executed. This is hardly a test kitchen and I certainly would not recommend it.

I ate here prior to my flight as I had a decent amount of time but the service was surprisingly slow given everyone in there would have limited time as well. The food was just okay and mostly fried. I realize for airport food that it would be this way but there was a lot of breading on the fish such that the ratio was way off and you had to peel off some of the breading just to enjoy the taste of the fish. The clam chowder had okay flavor but was too runny.

Had the lobster roll and was pretty disappointed. It was way overpriced over 30.00 and the flavor was uneventful in my mouth. Maybe lobster is not in season…

The lines might be long, but the staff is really good is turning tables over quickly. I got the crispy fish sandwich, which comes with 2 sides(French fries and cole slaw). You can substitute any of the sides for no charge. Your options are: onion strings, broccoli, jasmine polenta, and a couple others. Food comes out quick and well prepared. The fish sandwich is filling. You get two large fish filets, which are not spicy or bland. It’s topped with tartar sauce. The New England clam chowder is pretty good and it comes hot extremely hot. I would go back to this location again.

This is my go to restaurant when traveling out of terminal A at BOS. Yes the line to sit down can get long, but these guys turn tables fast. The will always ask you how mush time you have. The menu, prices, and quality of food can’t be beat, especially for a captive airport crowd. The menu select offers a nice selection of seafood. I do appreciate that they mark which intend can be prepared gluten free. They do a good job at minimizing cross contamination. I have yet to get sick in the past 6 times of eating there. Also, the manager will deliver the food. Legal Seafood’s Test Kitchen is a good option for eating or drinking while waiting to head off to you next destination.

I had the clam chowder and fish and chips. The clam(cream based) was better than I was expecting, nice clam flavor but was slightly starchy, just a little. At least one bite of potato resulted in a mushy potato and there was no resistance, indicative of a slightly older chowder. I give the chowder 3 stars. The fish and chips were uninspired. This I give 1 star. The fish was quite dry inside the fried batter, which was firm and crispy but not much fish to taste. Perhaps I was expecting better, and you know what, even for the airport, if you’re gonna charge 17 $ for fish and chips they should be better. Perhaps this is why it’s the test kitchen.

Solid choice for seafood before you leave town. I got the seafood platter which was a generous plate of shrimp, scallops, fried clams, haddock and fries. The clams were truly exceptional. If I had a do over I would just get a side of clams and a lobster roll. The scallops were fantastic but I only got three. The shrimp and haddock were a little over cooked which dried them out. Service was great but it was Sat at lunch time and the terminal was slow. In past legal seafood visits the clam chowder and lobster rolls have been exceptional so I mixed it up this visit. If it’s your first visit, clam chowder and lobster roll all the way!

For airport food this is excellent. The host is on top of the seating. Clam chowder was good although I swear I had shell between my teeth. I’ve had the lobster roll in the restaurant and the lobster wrap in the to go section. I wish the latter didn’t have lettuce but it was good otherwise. Roll was nice. Next time I’ll just get the steamed lob. Love the music selection. Lots of people sharing bottles of wine. Even some sharing while working side by side on their laptops. I heard the white sangria was a nice twisted lemonade. Lovely day.

It can be tough to find great food and service in an airport these days, but this is one of those exceptions. A friendly greeting as I saddled up to the bar and attentive service throughout. Plenty of options on the menu featuring lobster or crab, which is what we’re there for. Since it was 8 am I went with the lobster omelet and it did not disappoint! It was loaded tasty lobster and cheese. Served with sides of bacon, home fries, and toast, it was enough for breakfast and lunch! Also, if you need a charge for your phone or other devices be sure to sit near one of the outlets they have conveniently placed under the bar and tables. It’s clearly marked on the bar so that you know where they are.

I got to the airport about three hours earlier and what better way to wait for a flight then have wine and devour seafood. Compared to the Legal Sea Foods. it’s really not as good. But compared to the American Airlines terminal(where the Legals is outside security), this is okay. Several things: — They don’t serve their famous chowder in a bowl. just a cup. Booo… — They don’t serve steamers. Double boo… — They don’t serve more than one type of oyster per day. Plus is. they have plug points at the bar while you sit. My favorite feature of this place. So I ended up getting a bottle of wine… I got six oysters(Wellfleet. they were awesome)… cup of clam chowder… and a lobster roll(I asked them if this was better than the full lobster. I should have gotten the lobster. They were able to serve it warm with butter but it just is a disappointment compared to Neptune’s in the city). You’ll be disappointed if you are expecting what you get in a regular Legals. But I believe there is only a Lucky’s in this terminal(that’s good too if you’ve gone to their location at the Waterfront).

I saw the sign in the distance but did not expect this airport outpost to have breakfast offerings. I was in luck. With lots of bar seating and two– and four-tops, Legal Test Kitchen accommodates small and large groups of travelers. I was very early for my flight so I settled down for a leisurely brunch. Given that I was in Boston, there was no question about it, I would be gravitating towards breakfast items with lobster. The menu was impressive, given the location, with a basic breakfast, a breakfast wrap, French Toast, and a few omelettes. I selected the lobster and crab omelette which included 2oz of each, folded into three eggs with melted Monterey Jack. The sweet lobster meat chunks, along with the nutty cheese, made for a delicious combination. The filling meal was served with crispy applewood bacon, sweet brioche toast, and home fries. Also on the breakfast menu are a number of breakfast cocktails, including Mimosa, Bellini, and Bloody Mary. Next to the restaurant is the requisite to-go prepped salads, sandwiches and beverages for more time-pressed travelers.

On the expensive side, but good food and big servings. I tried the seafood omelette and french toast. Both were filling and delicious.

For airport food, I was good. Manageable portions and quick service because I sat at the bar, plenty of tvs and good beer selection while you wait for your flight! Harpoon IPA is good if you like hoppy

Tired, ready to go home. Still, not quite ready to give up on the seafood, given we are Kansas City vs. New England. Arrive at airport, get through security — head for Legal Test Kitchen. Wife gets fish/chips, I get crab cake. Definitely expensive(it’s in the airport), but definitely nice for an «end of trip» seafood experience.

I can’t be too harsh, but for the price(and I’d never come here not on company dime) this place was really just meh average. I’m talking generic flavors, unexciting ingredients, sad looking plates. We wanted to keep it simple so we got the lobster roll, seated blackened tuna, and chicken Caesar salad. The roll had a minimal amount of meat, the tuna was wilting and scant, and the chicken salad was dry and tasteless. Again, very under whelming on all counts :(

It is a rare thing for me to give an airport restaurant five stars, and the Legal Test Kitchen deserves each one. While many restaurants can accommodate food allergies these days, the good people at Legal go a step further. I know I can dine at any of their locations and enjoy a delicious, gluten free meal. For starters, they have GF rolls that are served warm from the oven with butter. A nice touch, and great way to make those of us that suffer from Celiac feel included. I thoroughly enjoyed my lump crabmeat and avocado salad, along with a crisp glass of Pinot Grigio, while I waited for my flight. Service is stellar, exactly what you would expect from a fine establishment like Legal Seafood.

We enjoyed excellent service and good food at the Legal Test Kitchen. Immediately after greeting us, our server inquired about how we were doing on time to make sure they could get us out in a timely fashion. My husband ordered the crispy fish sandwich, which came with fries and cole slaw, which he enjoyed. The fish sandwich was large and filling. I needed my food prepared gluten free, and they did a great job with that. A cook brought my food out personally to say that they had taken care to prepare it separately. It was excellent. I had the seared shrimp with broccoli and jalapeño cheddar polenta. The shrimp had a tasty seasoning and the portion sizes were generous. The polenta was delicious; the flavor was excellent, with a little kick from the jalapeño. They kept us moving, and all of the staff we interacted with were pleasant and efficient. Great place to eat at the airport.

Service is very fast and attentive. My server even asked for my flight departure time so he could rush my order if needed. It’s a great spot for drinks before your flight or a bite to eat. I particularly liked the local brews they have on tap so you can have a taste of Boston even if you’re in the city for a layover. Legal knows how to deliver on classic New England staples like clam chowder and lobster rolls. The 4−7pm window can be very crowded in the terminal and in the dining area but hostesses are ready to find you a seat and minimize your wait. Legal will help you get your New England fix!
