I love the dumplings here. They’re pretty big. Twice as big as the ones they sell. Whenever I get these, they’re so perfectly pan-fried all around. They cook it fresh for you. I love the pork & mushroom or pork & leek. The spicy soy sauce is the best. For $ 5, you get 10 big dumplings — great for a meal. You can upgrade with a soup & soda for an additional $ 1.50. The lady is super nice. It feels like home cooked when she individually cooks them for you on the spot. She doesn’t speak much English, but if you point to what you want, they tend to know what you would want. Bring cash. It’s cash ONLY. I see an ATM at the entrance, but I hope you have at least 5 bucks in your pockets when trying to get food from Chinatown.

Dumpling King was our favorite meal in Chinatown. The outside of the building is a bit raggedy looking and it’s tucked away in the back of a room full of other food shops, but the food made it a diamond in the rough. It’s cash only, but ridiculously cheap. We got«10» vegetable dumplings each(he got pan-fried and I got steamed) and a soda for $ 5 each. The dumplings came out fresh and hot with two dipping sauces, one of which was more sweet and the other a little spicy. The best part was we ate our fill and still had a load of dumplings left over. After a second of looking at our plates though(and counting) we realized he still had nine dumplings left and I had eight! We had eaten way more than that, so the cook had apparently not bothered to count and just threw a few handfuls into the steamer for us. A great bargain and quality food. The only forewarning I’d give is that their sitting area is literally just two chairs and table pushed against the ordering counter(see pics). We didn’t mind and weren’t uncomfortable while eating. But parties with more than two people, or who want more privacy when eating, may want to order take-away.

Straightforward dumplings for a great price and not sketch. If you’re a fan of the thicker skins, then this is the place for you. The menu is extremely basic. You can basically choose one of 5 or so flavors of dumplings and have them either pan fried or boiled. I like the boiled better because I think the pan fried version is a little too fried for me. There’s not much complexity in these dumplings for 10 for $ 5 is an extremely satisfying meal. The pork and leek is my favorite as I think it’s a bit juicier than the other options. They also have veggie dumplings which are filled with cabbage, mushrooms, and carrots. You can also buy bags of frozen dumplings which are an even better deal — 3 for $ 10.

Dumpling King may not have the gourmet dumplings fit for royalty that its name might have led you to believe… but really, what is a «gourmet dumpling?» When I think dumpling, gourmet means that it was made at home with veggies grown in our backyard that go from being assembled to being in my tummy within the hour. I can’t really hope for dumplings like that from Chinatown, but Dumpling King makes their dumplings in-house at their little kiosk-like space, so they have a more homemade quality that frozen grocery market dumplings don’t have. It’s also very wallet-friendly for whenever I have a sudden dumpling craving. However, if you can’t handle thicker dumpling skins, this place is not for you. I like to get pot stickers when I’m taking out(with their spicy soy sauce concoction!), but I’ve also had frozen dumplings purchased from here that were boiled at home(also quite good). My favorite thing about Dumpling King, though, is the adorable woman who operates their phone when you call in to order takeout. Her«Hello, Dumpling [King]» always makes my day.

Came to this location for the sushi at Avana, left with these dumplings. Excellent dumpling shack, with fast and made-to-order service. The price is unbeatable. This is what fastfood chinese should be. $ 4.50 for 10 dumplings $ 6.50 for 10 dumplings, soup, and a drink. CASHONLY.

Their dumplings are really good! I never sample good even at food court. That is just me being me! Lol The lady is really generous and makes sure she pack enough sauce for my dumplings. They even have dumplings in their freezer. The 3 for 10 are the packaged one you can purchase at your local Super Martket 88, kam man or H mart. I almost purchase the 10 dollar bag dumpling but the dough will stick and break once thaw. So next time when I know if I’m going straight home I would love to fry dumplings with my home made ginger and vinegar and soy sauce dipping sauce or I pair it with stir fried yellow noodles with dumplings and the dipping sauce for dressing yummy to top it off don’t forget red fried onions. :) Their is seating in ftont of the counter, but I don’t think you would want someone standing behind you with your back turn. Just have it to GO!

We didn’t plan to order nothing from this place, we didn’t know about it, we found it by chance. Just next to Avana Sushi, this is also very small booth where you can order dumplings. They had some sets with ten dumplings for less than one buck each. We ordered one set of ten pieces to go and they were really good(I liked boiled/steamed ones more) and they were perfectly fried, a bit crunchy. The meat with spices were very tasty and they also provided soy sauce for them, you only need to wait a couple of minutes to get them. Maybe there are not the best Dumplings I’ve ever had, but they were cheap and quite good.

Some other Unilocalers have been saying that Dumpling King buys their dumplings frozen. This is simply not true. I’ve watched them make their dumplings in house, and then bag them up to freeze. Yes, if they run out of fresh dumplings for the day they will use some frozen ones, but they are just as delicious. I go for the soup, 10 dumplings, and a drink combo for just $ 6. This is definitely the place to go if you’re a starving college student like me. Keep in mind that they are cash only.

I had a hard time finding Dumpling King the first time I went, so it’s good to note that you have to go in a little food court at the address. I’ve had the pork&mushroom and the pork&leek dumplings, and I thought both were delicious. And it was $ 6 for 10 dumplings(which I couldn’t even finish) and soup and a drink. The hot&sour soup was just okay to me, but that’s a great deal for authentic and yummy dumplings!

Dumpling King is my favorite stall in a second floor mini-food court. As many others have mentioned, the dumplings are spectacularly cheap here, and it’s worth a shot. Neither the proprietress nor those of the three other stalls give you a hard time for getting one dish you like at one counter and another specialty at another counter. There are some caveats, especially for you Shopzilla types who freak out if everything doesn’t match your expectation of perfection. First off, this place isn’t merely a food court serving Chinese food. It’s a food court serving Chinese food *for the Chinatown natives.* You will seldom see Anglo faces here, and the stall owners aren’t notable for their command of English.(Let’s just say I was grateful to a Sinophile friend for dragging me into here, because there’s no way in creation I’d have stumbled in on my own, however much I like Chinatown.) Secondly, this is a dingy, cramped, indifferently lit food court with all the ambiance of a community college canteen. There are places in Chinatown where you can have fancy sitdown dinners at nosebleed prices served by linen-clad waiters on teakwood and mahogany tables, and I wish you well at such places. This isn’t it. Finally, this is effectively Chinese fast food. Adjust your expectations accordingly — you’ve no more reason to expect Zagat-level cooking than you would at Burger King.

Veggie dumpling — just the thought of it not being made in house and fresh was drilled in my head. They sell the frozen packages so I assume they use those too. That was a disappointment. The dumplings weren’t bad but I could have panfried frozen dumplings myself. the dumplings were super oily where you have oil as Chapstick. They don’t have the dumpling machine to have them panfried without the oil.

Cannot beat the price — $ 4.50 for 10 good-sized dumplings. There is a simple selection of pork and leek(recommended), pork and mushroom, chicken, and vegetable, and then you can decide whether to go for fried or steamed. I would recommend streamed if you are planning to eat all 10 or else you will feel very greasy later. You can also do a combo deal with a can of soda and a a soup(hot and sour or shrimp wonton) for an extra $ 1.00. Furthermore, you can buy frozen dumplings to take home. You should at least pay a visit to observe the fancy mechanical dumpling making machines churn out these small pieces of heaven. Dumpling King is a quick take-out for lunch or you can sit in the two seats that are placed against the ordering counter(rather awkward when people are ordering their food over you). The counter can be hard to find, but it is in a small food court shared by Avana Sushi and a tacky gift shop with an ATM.

I’ve ordered take out once here during my lunch break and for the price and quantity that they give you, is pretty good. I wanted dumplings that day and I honestly passed by this plaza where the place is many times but never tried it. For that price, $ 4 for 10 dumplings is pretty cheap. I think for an extra dollar they give you a can of soda and/or soup(not sure if they givw both or you get to choose). I got mushroom and pork dumplings steamed and I liked it. Frozen or not, for that price you can’t go wrong especially if you want a quick meal that can fill you up for the day. I would come back again if i want some quick dumplings for lunch. Don’t expect some kind of over the top, gourmet style dumplings, it seems like a lot were expecting that, hence the negative reviews. Oh and the place is cash only and for me, I just had enough to pay for it that day so I didn’t have to run to an atm to take out some: p

Good place for a snack to share or lunch. 10 dumplings only sets you back $ 4.50(no soup or soda) and you can get them steamed or pan fried. We ordered a couple of boxes to take to a party and they place a label on each foam container to indicate if its pork, veggies or chicken, etc.

Since this was next to the Egg Puff stand, my friend decided to try out some of their dumplings. We saw them rolling them and making them fresh. My friend ordered a set of 10, but we got closer to 15, and they were bite-sized. I liked this size better than regular-size dumplings since we could easily pop one in our mouths. They offer a combo that comes w/a soda for $ 4.95, but my friend didn’t want the soda and was charged $ 3.95 instead. Super cheap and a great deal! The dumplings were fried right then so they came piping hot and were quite tasty. They also sell frozen bags of dumplings, 3 bags for $ 10! Yikes! I also saw the woman put out some samples as well, which I thought was smart. I’m not sure how well the plaza does since I only saw a few people go in an out, but I’m glad we were able to support two of these mom and pop businesses during our trip!

I thought the fried dumplings were only ok. I tried the pork and mushroom. The skin was def too thick. They tasted no different than the ones I buy frozen from the supermarket. Nice dipping sauce though. If you want to fill your stomach with cheap eats, then this is the place to go. Under $ 5 for 10 dumplings! They should offer a side dumpling dish such as $ 3.50 for 5 dumplings. I only wanted to sample them, 10 is just too much(doughy dumpling skin fills you up quickly).

Such a good deal! 10 dumplings for $ 4? I was so excited to try this place because well 1. I LOVE dumplings– like probably one of my top 5 favorite foods 2. How can you beat this price It’s holds a little space in the Avana sushi/Egg Puffs food court area and has 1 table right in front of the register. Thus, more of a takeout place. They have a few different options but I’ve only tried the pork and pork&leek steamed dumplings. They’re made to order and super hot and fresh when you get them. They even have little labels on the box so you don’t confuse them in case you order oh idk. 5 for your«friends» and end up eating them all yourself. The meat is flavorful and the size of the dumplings is generous, but my only complaint is how thick the skin is. I’m not a huge fan of the dumpling/meat ratio, but nothing that will deter me from enjoying these 10 delicious dumplings. **Cash only!

10 dumplings, a can of soda, and soup for 5 $. I couldn’t fall in love with anywhere faster even if they pumped me with an IV full of cookies. The dumplings are always so fresh and I love that you can buy pre-packaged frozen ones to go(3 bags for 10 $!!) and even the dough is handmade. Dumpling King is not a sit down restaurant(it’s in the same mini market area as Avana) but they take 5 minutes to pull your food together, whether fried or boiled, and it’s delicious. My favorite are the pork and chicken and mushroom dumplings but the vegetarian dumplings are great as well. If your trying to grab a quick lunch in chinatown on a budget, this is definitely a go to.

Not bad. (I am spoiled by NYC dumpling standards which are 5 for $ 1 freshly made in front of you.) But I was very happy to see this place so I now know where to get a quick to-go dumpling fix. I did see the woman make dumplings while I ordered and ate. The frozen dumplings to the side are just if you happen to want to buy some to take home to make yourself. They were good, though a bit thick, and a bit on the oily side. Next time I’ll try the boiled/steamed. The woman who was cooking and cashiering was friendly. Eating space is very limited/awkward but also interestingly very few feet away from other to-go food stalls.

YUM! 10 dumplings for $ 4 or add an extra $ 1 for soup and a soda. How can you get a better deal than that in Chinatown? This place is tucked away in a random food space next to avana sushi and a cell phone stand. I was skeptical at first but I decided to get 10 pork dumplings one day for dinner. They were awesome! The filling tasted more like soup dumplings than your regular freezer dumplings. They give you 10 dumplings and two different kinds of dipping soy sauce(spicy and non). It was great, especially considering how cheap it was! I’d recommend the pork dumpling steamed. I tried them fried once and the flavor just wasn’t as good after they fried it. You have to tell them though, because most people like them greasy and fried so sometimes they don’t ask you what you want. I haven’t tried the combo yet, but I saw people get a big cup of dumpling soup and a soda for only a $ 1 more. Next time!
