I’ve been here twice and both times the food was great. definitely try the catfish and mozzarella sticks, I wish they served salmon croquettes here and this place would definitely be complete. I’d recommend dining when they have live music, there is a coverage charge but it’s a small price and worth it for the whole good vibe feel. My only negative opinion on this place is the service. I’ve been here twice and both times the service was poor. The first time I swear it took an hour to get something as simple as water and she didn’t even ask how our meals were until 45 min after serving it. The second time, our birthday cake slice took over an hour to serve; I’m not sure why it takes an hour to provide a slice of cake AND provide us with our check.

I wish I could give this place 3.5 stars. We had a good experience, but I don’t think the food lived up to my expectations based on all the amazing Unilocal reviews. We had a 7PM reservation on a Friday for my fiancé’s birthday. We were seated a few minutes after arriving in the back room, which was fine by us since the live music was really loud. The place has a cool vibe. There was a jazz band playing until 8 and then the live singer came on who was pretty good! If you sit in the back room there is a TV projecting the band playing so you can watch. We ordered the mozzarella sticks to start. They were fine, but nothing special. I wouldn’t recommend getting them to start if you are going to get something fried for dinner — they weren’t worth the extra fried food. My fiancé got the chicken and waffles which I have to admit were delicious! Definitely make sure someone orders those. I got the catfish tacos. Honestly, I wasn’t impressed. It was fine, but nothing amazing. Maybe we missed the mark by not getting barbecue? We then finished off the night with red velvet cake. Again, nothing amazing. Not great, not bad. Again, I may have been anchored by really high expectations based on other Unilocal reviews and word of mouth recommendations. I will say the service proved to be an issue at times. The food took a long time(which we really didn’t mind because we were enjoying the music) but the drink ordering was a bit slow which did bother us. It was busy, but not crazy, so I was wondering why the staff was struggling keeping up. They also had a weird system where different people brought us different parts of our meal and twice the waitress brought our order to the wrong table. I was going to bump this review down to 3 stars because of the service, but our server ended up comping my fiances meal because it was his birthday and brought our dessert over with a candle in it which I thought was really great! There is also a $ 10 cover when eating to pay for the band which I felt okay about, but just make sure you are aware. Overall I think this place is worth a visit, but more for the ambiance/music than the food. Would love to pop in for a drink in the near future.
