Maybe it’s because I went at the end of the day. Maybe it’s because he said there was only two left. Or maybe they’re just bad… My crêpe was burnt. I got lemon and sugar and it was back loaded to just be a burst of lemon in one bite, I didn’t get any flavors other than burnt in the rest of it. +1 star because I didn’t get sick and it was the end of the day

Ham and cheese crêpe was pretty mouth watering! Quick and convenient stop right outside boston public library for a late lunch and only $ 6, well worth it!

Benny’s Crêpe Café is delicious! THREEDOLLARS for a delicious crêpe with very tasty strawberries, lemon and powdered sugar. That’s it! CHEAP, FAST, EASY! Best of all, the crêpe contains 50% buckwheat flour which gives it an earthy, filling taste. Most delicious! Benny was super nice and they take plastic! I should have three dollars on me, but I didn’t that day and was happy when he said he takes credit cards. I ordered my crêpe and a few minutes later it was ready. It is more of a snack size/dessert in my opinion. At least the sweet ones are. The savory ones are more for lunch or dinner. The location I found Benny’s at is the Science Center at Harvard University. They are here on Tuesdays and Thursdays. There wasn’t a long line, their competition is Bön Me which has a very long line. They also have to compete with the Harvard Farmer’s Market which runs from late June to late October from 12−6pm on Tuesdays. I have seen Benny’s here for a few months and never had the time to stop by. Glad I did today. Perfect treat on a hot summer day!

A couple weekends ago, I was at SoWa & stopped by the food truck court to grab a bite to eat. Initially, I wanted to get some food from Mei Mei, but upon seeing the massive line, I decided to try a truck with a shorter wait time. Enter Benny’s Crêpe Café. There were only a couple of people in line(which, looking back, should have been a red flag), so I stepped into line, & when my time to order came, I asked for the Pesto Chicken crêpe. In only a few minutes, I received my crêpe, which turned out to be a crêpe in name only. The«crêpe» was doughy, & simply put, it did not taste good. The pesto chicken filling, however, was decent & saved the crêpe wrap from being a complete letdown. Tidbits: –At least for the wrap I ordered, the crêpe was whole wheat.

The food was edible, but not much beyond that. Also, these are not crêpes, not even remotely. The ham and Cheese crêpe was basically a wrap like you’d get at any old sandwich place. The wrap didn’t resemble a crêpe at all, it was doughy and mushy. I’m not sure what they are going for here, but it’s not terribly successful. I took two bites of my «crêpe» and promptly threw it away… they should be ashamed to sell this.

Tried the food truck — it was okay. decently priced. Would I go out of my way? No. Would I eat there again if it was outside my door and I was too lazy to walk elsewhere? Yep.

It’s no secret that I’ve been less than thrilled with the food options in my hood. Since I’m sick of the three foods on my «acceptable» list(you guys know what they are from my check-ins), I went in search of something new today. I’m so glad I stumbled across this food truck parked near the Science Center at school. Huge bummer — they’re only there Mondays & Thursdays(in various boston locales the rest of the week.) It was love at first bite, totally unexpected. I hate that I’m so accustomed to being disappointed. The warm, thin-ish buckwheat crêpe was perfection… layers of spinach rolled together w/kalamata olives, caramelized onions, feta, & mushrooms(I left out red peppers)…they call it the Mediterranean crêpe, I call it my mouth is watering just thinking about it now. I love that this sizable, healthy deliciousness is also portable because it’s wrapped like a burrito. $ 6.50 plus $ 1.50 for water. Maybe I’ll venture into boston for lunch tomorrow & if I run into them, well, that’ll just be a coincidence then, won’t it?

I tried Benny’s for lunch and ordered the Mediterranean Crêpe. This was my first time at this food truck and I wasn’t sure what would be best to order. The Mediterranean Crêpe is advertised as the healthy option and since I had a big breakfast, I opted for something light. When I opened the burrito shaped crêpe, I thought it would be too little and light, but it turned out to be just right. It was fresh and tasty without over doing it on the cheese(which I normally prefer), however this worked well. I was surprised to learn on Unilocal reviews that the crêpe is made with buckwheat, which they don’t advertise on their menus. I thought maybe it was burnt. I think they should advise the public on this in the menu detail as it seems a bit off-putting at first. Overall, I really enjoyed my lunch. The crêpe was out of the ordinary, healthy and filling. The customer service was polite and my wait wasn’t very long. I was surprised there wasn’t a typical food truck line for 12:30pm. However, it is late October. I will be returning to try other savory crepes as well as sweet.

I only tried this place once because they do not come to Backbay area everyday unfortunately but when I tried their breakfast crepes, it was pretty good and actually tasted better than some places where you actually dine-in. I wish they would come to Backbay area more often so I could try different crepes they have. You could create your crêpe based on small selection of choices they have. Will post more info after trying couple more crepes they have–

Stopped in for a breakfast crêpe this morning, 2 eggs, bacon, swiss and mushrooms. It was pretty good, and filling. Never had a whole grain crêpe before, but it was still tasty. Looks like I have another breakfast place to add into the rotation.

I’ve never eaten a crêpe to my knowledge but thought I would give Benny’s a chance. It was excellent. I had the Turkey Melt Crêpe and was really surprised by how tasty it was. Another reviewer said that he didn’t like how it was rolled up like a burrito but I am actually a fan as this makes it easier to eat while on the move. I’m definitely going to keep an eye out for this lunch truck. Thanks guys!

I’ve had my fair share of crepes and I would definitely rank Benny’s up there. I recently tried the ham and cheese crêpe which surprised with caramelized onions and mushrooms. Ingredients were definitely top quality. Can’t wait to try the other varieties.

Just like the previous review, I also tried the ham and cheese crêpe. Though it was tasty with good ingredients, I definitely was disappointed with how it was rolled up like a burrito. I think they should think about how to package it different like folder it to a slice pizza shape. This would give it a different take and not make it feel like a burrito. The price is decent and there is plenty of choices.

I LOVE crepes, so when I heard there was a new food truck in the financial district I had to check it out. They have a great menu with a nice variety of sweet and savory crepes. The truck sits just beyond Liberty square on Kilby St. Prices are VERY reasonable from 3 – 8 dollars depending on ingredients. I went for the ham and cheese with had a very tasty black forest ham, Gruyère cheese, sauteed mushrooms, caramelized onions and honey mustard. It was ready in good time and hot. My only complaint is the way it’s packaged. Because the ingredients are folded in the crêpe as if it was a burrito in a foil wrapper, the crêpe looses its crisp edges and gets a bit limp/soggy. but other than that it was quite delicious! I will be back to try a sweet version on my next visit. yum.

Got the caramel apple crêpe. Unfortunately, waited too long to eat it so it became soggy. But nice people, convenient location, and good crêpe.

Yesterday a co-worker asked me which of the food trucks would be the first to go belly up. Well, it only took a day, but I think I figured it out. Went to get lunch today at Benny’s. Five people already waiting and then just me, at 11:45am before the typical food truck rush. The scene was a total clusterfuck. They don’t take your name, so when the cook yells out«ham and cheese» multiple people make a move for the food. Online ordering? Good luck. A group arrived that had ordered online. «Sorry I was too busy and didn’t get to those online orders. Oh and we’re out of ___and ___and ___. Order now and come back in 15 minutes. I think people who order online from food trucks are a nuisance, but still, don’t act like it’s too technical to deal with. My order took a pretty long time. Not forever, but too long for a truck with close to zero business happening. How can you be this badly in the weeds with only about 10 crepes ordered, total? Whatever, every restaurant has bad days, right? I at least thought the food would be good, but no dice. The filling is okay, but the crêpe itself looks and tastes like wet brown cardboard. All together, it was just kinda gross. This place needs to get their act together.

Today I grabbed the wrong train, and after heading back inbound, used Copley as my turn around point. Normally, this amateur mistake of choosing a t-stop that forces you to exit, cross the street and re-enter to switch directions, would be a pain. I was hungry, annoyed about needing to go work on a Saturday, it was cold… is that a crêpe truck right in front of me? Suddenly, I’m holding a warm ham and cheese(whole grain crêpe with Gruyère and cheddar and mushrooms), a smile on my face, as I walk back in to Copley to go to work. At 6 bucks on average for a lunch style crêpe($ 1 off if you order before 1:00 — and order crepes that are at least $ 6) — it’s a tad pricey, but the norm for food trucks in the area. They come rolled up with a layer of paper, then tinfoil, then thrown in a paper bag. I found the paper was rolled into the crêpe a bit — which was a pain for the whole walking and eating thing — but far from ruined the experience. They’ve got a great and creative menu, and I hope to see them around Boston more frequently.

I like crepes. I like crepes for lunch. I like crepes for lunch that won’t break the bank and preferably taste like heaven. Benny’s fills all of these voids in my life. I found their truck near Post Office Square by accident and it happened to be their first day serving lunch at the corner of Milk and Kilby Streets. The Mediterranean was filled with all kinds of great flavors including spinach, roasted red peppers, olives, carmelized onions, and feta. The buckwheat crêpe really makes a difference adding a lot of flavor. It was all wrapped up in foil and was not only super hot and fresh but really filling. Great deal for six bucks. My only qualm was that one of my olives had a pit but it’s really no big deal. Can’t wait to try the BLT crêpe!

A good crêpe is hard to find. I was in the area on my way to the Chicken and Rice Guys when I realized that it’s Wednesday and not Monday so they wouldn’t be there. My mistake turned into good fortune when I saw Benny’s. I f***ing love crepes but after Arrow Street Crepes closed down the other places I’ve tried either haven’t been that good or was too expensive. But as I said I f***ing love crepes, so I stopped to take a look at their menu. They’ve got your standard sweet crepes that you can really do no wrong, like a nutella crêpe, caramel apple and a couple others. Lets be honest though, rarely can anyone go wrong with nutella. However, I’m not a sweets person, it’s lunch time, and I’m one of those few who isn’t really a fan of nutella. So I go for their ham and cheese crêpe, the standard savory kind. Their ham and cheese though has sauteed mushrooms, caramelized onions and honey mustard. The price was only $ 6 which is pretty typical of Boston food trucks in the area(sweet crepes are around $ 4). So I order it and wait for about 5 minutes. Since it’s freezing this time of the year they wrapped it up good in foil and I was on my way. When I sat down to eat it to my surprise it was a whole wheat crêpe. That’s something I’ve never seen before but okay first time for everything. I bite into it and it sure was delectable. That crêpe had everything going for it, the ham the cheese the mushrooms and onions all adding to the flavorful experience in my mouth. I think I might have found a new favorite food truck in town.
