A decent little sports bar tucked in a corner of a small retail plaza in Bonner Springs, the thing I’d say was most memorable was the adequacy of the portions. The beer selection is somewhat limited and the food variable in quality, from average(the nachos, fried pickles) to excellent(chicken fried steak). Not a bad place to stop to avoid the crowds in Lawrence when en route(from the KC area) to a Jayhawks game.

We go here for the Taco Tuesday and Thursdays. Best tacos we have had around here. Not as cheap as some taco tuesdays but they are big and very good, so the value is there. Great waitresses, and good service. Once in a while slower than other times but not too bad. Good food, good specials, we go there a lot

First — the service and staff are absolutely GREAT! I have NEVER had as nice service as we get at Twisters. Second — the FOOD is WONDERFUL! My family and I eat here at LEAST once a week. From the HUGE Chicken Fried Steaks to the Mountain of Nachos or All-American Monster Hamburgers, if you leave hungry — it’s your own fault! THATSAID — they have a NEWMENU — & some of the food is now over the $ 10 limit for the one $ rating. ITISSTILLWORTHIT, but I believe in full disclosure. And you can order until 11pm on Fridays & Saturdays! Third — the Friday night DJ — he’s fun & keeps the karaōke crowd engaged(even though the music gets a LITTLE loud sometimes), and let’s as many people sing as he can — & they do! Okay — WE do — it’s kind of fun sometimes! :-)
They are accommodating to parties and, until about 10pm, it’s a GREAT place for families, too! After 10, they still let you bring in your children, but it’s more an adult atmosphere.

Three strikes your out. I’ve been coming to Twisters for ten years and have always enjoyed the food and great company. This is the third time in a row where I had terrible service and cold food and I can no longer hold back my complaint. The seat yourself sign was up when we arrived a party if 13, so after we did seat ourselves in a ¾ empty restaurant we waited more than 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. We finally went up to the bar to get our own drinks. By the time the waitress came in to take our drink order we were ready for a second drink, and by the time that drink came out we once again had gone to the bar to order our drinks. We had 3 orders of Twister dip a usual favorite we had to send all 3 orders back because they were cold. Although the food came out quickly it was cold everything from the tacos, the nachos and the chicken strips, and we didn’t see the waitress again until she brought out the checks and by this time we were too fed up to bother with the complaints. $ 25 meal usually a steal, thankfully we had a good group of understanding people there some of which it was their first time and undoubtedly the last time they visit Twisters. All I can say is This place had gone way down hill in the past year.

My family and I went to eat here for the first time this weekend. They didn’t have a hostess so we just sat ourselves. Our waitress quickly greeted us with menus and silverware. We placed our drink order soon after. They have $ 7 pitchers of Coorslight or Budlight on Sunday’s btw. I can’t complain about the service. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. We never had to ask her for anything extra. The service is yet another reason I gave them two stars. Now the food… They claim to have«the best» tacos in town. My son ordered two soft ground beef tacos. The meat was dry and had no flavor. My husband and I both ordered the Twisters Burger. Which again, the meat was pretty dry. There’s no way they’re patties aren’t frozen. The onion rings were«ok» but again, frozen. My youngest son had the kid’s chicken strips. They are what they are. All in all, I didn’t find anything special here. I could have recreated our whole $ 40 meal for half that in my own home and with far better flavor. Beer and cooked frozen food can be found just about anywhere. I can’t really say we’ll be back, there’s really nothing I’d come back to here. PS: Please don’t call their food«Mexican Food». REALMEXICANFOODISMADEFROMSCRATCH. They’re stuff is canned and frozen…

We went to Twisters last night with a large party. I ordered the Flying Monkey(only 4 beers on tap) and the soft tacos. We also had the chips, salsa, and queso. Salsa had great flavor and was spicy, but not light your mouth on fire spicy. We had Cori as a waitress and she was friendly and attentive. I was worried about 2 soft tacos filling me up, but they were huge! Taco meat was good and I got the queso on top as well. Great time. The ONLY reason why they didn’t get 5 stars was the selection of beer on tap. I didn’t ask about the bottle selection, but after reading the rest of the reviews, that sounds like where the selection is. We will definitely be back!

My second visit was better than my first. :) Tracy was a great waitress; the food was still good, but the fries were still questionable. Great drink specials!

I loved this place. Wish I lived near by. The crew is friendly and attentive. I wouldn’t recommend the grill, it was just okay and typical bar fare. I will definitely stop in when I’m in the area.

We found Twisters on Unilocal after attending a Unilocal Elite Event near Bonner Springs, about 20 miles east of our home in Lawrence, Kansas. I saw photos of their tacos and they looked better than any we have tried in Lawrence, so we decided to give them a go. Twisters sits in the corner of a strip mall just off Interstate 70. For a Sunday night, they were rather busy with only a few open tables. The atmosphere is very casual with groups of friends, couples, and families scattered about. For example, there was a couple at the table next to us with a 10-year old boy who had ranch dressing accidentally dropped on his head by a passing server(I hope his meal was comped!). TVs abound with sports playing around the large room and sports memorabilia dotting the walls, from football jerseys to posters. The kitchen sits behind the busy bar where the friendly servers scramble back and forth while serving hungry customers. The menu is eclectic, from Mexican fare(tacos, enchiladas, nachos) to burgers to meatloaf and sandwiches. I ordered a Dos Equis Amber draft on special for $ 2, some beef tacos($ 2.25 each), and cheese and onion enchiladas(also $ 2.25 each). The taco shells were obviously deep fried in-house, stuffed with ground beef, lettuce, plenty of cheese, and diced tomatoes complimented with what appeared to be store bought salsa. They were the best tacos I have eaten since moving from Kansas City last year(Rancho Grande) minus the guacamole(or avocado), hence my only complaint … there was no guacamole available on the menu as either an appetizer or a side. The enchiladas were also very good with plenty of cheese and a tasty red sauce with hints of what seemed to be mole(a Mexican savory chocolate sauce). The tacos and enchiladas were better than any I have eaten at any of the dozen or so Mexican restaurants we have tried since moving to Lawrence last year and this from a bar and grill! My wife ordered the half-pound(8 oz) Mushroom and Swiss Hamburger with fresh onion rings. The patty appeared smaller than 8 ounces and was not handmade, probably frozen from Sam’s Club, Cisco, or another restaurant supply chain. The bun was fresh, but the burger bland. The onion rings were made with fresh onion and deep fried, piping hot and missing only a bit of seasoning. I would return for the tacos and enchiladas, but would pass on the burgers, trying the meatloaf instead, hopefully being homemade and not«Stoufer’s» or some other frozen variety. CombatCritic Gives Twisters Grill and Bar 7 Out of 10 Bombs(for the tacos and enchiladas) and 6 Out of 10 Bombs Overall(for VALUE) … Bombs Are GOOD!

Beef Tacos were pretty tasty. They had a nice crunch to them. The rice was commented on and the verdict was tasty. Did not personally taste it. Potato Skins were pretty bland. Ended up salting them and dipping them in Ranch Dressing. That helped a lot. Fried Pickles were dreamy. Pickle spears even. Very good. Grilled Buffalo sandwich was pretty much disgusting. Really thin chicken grilled and then drowned in straight up hot sauce… not basted prior to… or during the grill process… but dumped on right before it is served. Soaked through the bun and was an awful mess. Co-diner said tenderloin sandwich was good. Malibu Rum and Coke for 2 bucks… no complaints there. Pretty alright depending on what you order.

The chili cheese hotdog was great. The service, our waitress, Sherry, was great. The drinks were good and the food was a good deal for the money.
