J & J Fish

I have always gotten good food from this restaurant but the cook went above and beyond today by opening an hour early to cook food for me to take to a repass in Chicago. For those who don’t know a repass is food for a family after a funeral.
Thanks to the owner and the cook for a remarkable job.

Avoid, Avoid! Here’s Why:
Ordered small fillet catfish dinner (2 pc) over phone. The guy asks me what kind of sauce and I say hot sauce. I get in restaurant and the total seems a bit high. I ask why so high, he starts reviewing the order and he says … for the sauce. What?! The sauce for my fish is an EXTRA charge! He says sauce is not included anymore. I tell him to take it off, i’ll get my own. I get home take two bites and just can’t continue eating because this fish is absolutely gummy on inside. I take it back, notice order taker wiping hands after just eating something. I gave order back and tell him to fry it hard. After receiving fresh order, I say I should receive something for having to come back with order; I request a dessert and the guy gives me a soda. I leave to eat my food again, and again the inside is terrible and gummy. The outside was fried hard but the inside has the consistency of something raw, like sushi. I have had some soft catfish before from different places which I can eat but this has got to be the worst catfish I have ever had. I ended it taking it back twice and eventually got my money back. Here are the problems:
Communication — I was told over phone that small was 3 pc, I received 2.
Service — Charging for a sauce which should be included. Of course, didn’t offer to mention its an extra charge for sauce. After problems, you deny my request and offer me a measly drink?
Food — Terrible. Catfish horrible, the worst and I MIGHT have had 4 fries in 2 orders, but no seasoning noticed.
Avoid these scam artists.

There are two Bolingbrook locations. AVOID THIS ONE! The lobby is small, dirty, and filled with worthless things for sale. They have no respect for the community they serve. The food is sub-​par for the franchise. Routinely disappointing. The location on Rt. 53 near Walmart is head and shoulders above this one. They should seriously consider closing.

This J&J is the worst… Ever… They got bullshit everywhere n dirty… Only order not to judge… Should have followed my first mind… The chicken was black n purple n soft… I feel sick just thinking bout it… Don’t go here…

STAY AWAY!!!
This J & J fish is HORRIBLE. I went here on Superbowl Sunday to order fish. The lobby was very small to begin with and they had the nerve to have a display case inside with a sign that read «We Buy Gold». I should have walked out at that moment. I ordered a Large Perch Dinner and A Large Jack Salmon (Whiting). The Large perch was (2) whole pieces cut in half to make four piece. The Jack Salmon was (4) good size pieces but that didn’t matter because the fish was greasy and it tasted as if they had been using the same grease for more than a month. Everything was just awful even the fries. I took one bite of the fish and trashed it. The only reason I went here is because i wanted to call ahead and the location I normally go didn’t answer the phone. Do Not waste your time here buying fish. This location was very busy but everyone coming in was buying the chicken. If you want good fish go to the location on RT 53 near the Wal Mart (Bolingbrook Also).

You know what, the food here is outstanding! However I only gave four stars because the people in this place were rude on my last visit. There was a young girl who waited on us, and she had an attitude that was out of this world! Maybe she was going through something. But don’t take it out on the customers.

Ewww, my mother’s order of fish smelled of urine. I used to love this place, but now I’ll never come there again.
