Great salon downtown Boise with parking right next door in garage. Staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. They really listen to exactly what you want. I strongly recommend seeing Bailey, she is an awesome colorist as well as stylist!

Great experience from the great customer service to the fantastic cut. The staff were very pleasant and professional. Ren was my stylist and provided the best cut I’ve had in many years if not ever. I Highly recommend this establishment.

Howie has been going to Ren for over 2 years and finally got me to go see Ren. I am very happy he talked me into it. Love my color, growing my hair seems to be easier and it looks very healthy! Thank you Ren for all you do for us!

I’ve been to Cara twice now, and she’s absolutely great. She’s only in one day a week due to teaching, but she’s totally amazing. All of them are very experienced and friendly. I love how I can get in on a fairly short notice(a week or two) due to my work schedule. I highly recommend anyone at this salon. The prices are a little higher but it is so so so, worth it.

I was in Boise for work, and hadn’t had time to get my hair done before I left. Let’s just say I was in desperate need of a color touch up. My schedule after wasn’t looking any better and I had some spare time while in Boise… so I figured what the heck, I might as well try this place out. They happened to have an opening exactly when i needed, so it seemed meant to be. I am sooooo glad for that! I was scheduled with Sydney, and she is fantastic! She really listened to what I wanted, then went forth and made it happen. She’s very friendly, so even though I was there for nearly 3 hours, it was a good time. The cut is great. I had fairly short hair already, so kind of hard to make that any different, but she managed to and I love the way it came out. Very versatile cut that I can wear a couple of different ways. Color is also awesome. She did some purple streaks that came out beautiful. I had asked to be a little conservative with the purple, and now I wish I hadn’t… loving it and wishing there was more! But again, she really listened to what I wanted and didn’t go crazy. So now I’m back home and getting lots of compliments on my new hair. Super happy I took a chance on this place. If you’re in the area, give it a try!!!

I saw Nathan for the first time for blonde highlights and a haircut. I have been getting highlights for 10 years, and these are the best I can remember! They are super natural, and he magically fixed my multi-colored, over-lightened hair so that it all blends together. Great cut as well. He is very professional and even accommodated my lateness. Highly recommended!

Don’t let the idea of parking downtown scare you. It’s actually very easy to park and get to the Electric Chair, which is on the ground floor of the parking garage between N. Capitol and N. 8th. Do yourself a favor and call Raul Zamarripa. He’s always on time, professional, won’t cut your hair until he clearly understands what you want, and gives tutorials on how to best style your hair if you want them. I really appreciate that even mid-cut Raul double checks what we’ve discussed rather than make a misstep. Plus, he’s funny, a great conversationalist, and an all-around cool kid. Go see him!

I returned to the Electric Chair for two appointments when I couldn’t get in at another salon. I think switching to Aveda products was a bad call, Electric Chair. I had a really dark color put in the first time and it faded horribly. The second time, she went a little darker and I was told to purchase the spendy color care shampoo and conditioner to help the fading, which I did. It didn’t help. I really dislike the way the Aveda color looks and fades. I don’t like how frizzy it makes my hair immediately after the appointment. I have splotchy color above my ears, even though I specifically asked the stylist to make sure that area looked good when I wear my hair up.

It’s always tough getting a haircut in a new town. I stopped at a different salon in Boise and got bad vibes, and headed to Electric Chair as my backup. Good call. Raul is the man, and it’s easily one of the best haircuts I have ever had. I will be back, and I’ve already told multiple people how great this place is.

This place is great if you’re just looking to have a simple hair cut done, but DONOT have your hair colored here. My color was absolutely RUINED, which I have invested over $ 1,000 into. I spent my drive home from the salon in tears frantically trying to get ahold of my colorist back in California. Luckily, I was able to locate an experienced colorist locally who was able to reverse the damage. Ironically, she had had a client come in previously requesting a colorist capable of repairing a botched color completed by, none other than, The Electric Chair! Ladies you have been warned!

After a slew of awful haircuts from many stylists, I found Raul at The Electric Chair. Scheduling was easy and I was fit in almost within the hour. He really helped me pick a style and saved what was the product of multiple botched haircuts. I won’t be getting my haircut anywhere else or by anyone else. I highly recommend Raul Zamarripa!

this salon has improved my view of boise, which is not an easy feat. i was in dire need of a haircut on my last visit to boise and figured i’d give it a try since it had the best reviews in town, compared to all the other salons i found on Unilocal. i had one of the owners do my trim. my previous haircut was not so great, so i requested that he try to fix it as much as he could. he did a great job taking off as little as possible(as i am trying to let my hair grow out), but still creating a better shape of my coif. not gonna lie though, the stylists are not what you expect to see in boise. they are definitely more portland worthy ;)

I too have gone to Nathan since he was at DV8. Everyone is friendly and I am never disappointed when I leave. I have also referred many friends and they have loved him.

PLEASE! $ 25 for a military haircut by a guy who barely knows how work a pair of scissors let alone an electric clipper? I’ve had better haircuts on the back porch from grandma for free!

I used to go to the excellent salon Blood Sweat and Shears down in Twin Falls. When Cara left, I was devastated, but she directed me here, and I’ve been having fabulous hair since. I primarily go to Chad. He’s a genius! I give him more or less an idea of what I want and he works with that to give me a haircut that compliments my face. And yesterday I went to Ren for the first time and he was incredible. I look great!

«they rock» — my hubby’s quote after his cut. Very reasonable price, friendly staff and a job well done. He looked awesome and we both left satisfied. Would definitely go back.

I went here because of all the reviews on Unilocal and the internet. The name was sort of intimidating, but I am thankful that I was courageous enough to go :)) This was my first haircut in Boise and I am delighted that it was a very positive experience. I am from a big city, so the prices here were excellent. The parking garage is cheap too. First hour is free and then second hour is $ 2.50. My stylist was Morgan and she was very friendly, talked to me the whole time and best of all, she LISTENED to my hair needs. We planned and she executed perfectly the style. I knew what I wanted done to my hair: I had blonde ends from a hair catastrophe 2 year ago that I was attempting to grow out and cut off. She cut them off, layered the hair and now I am Au Naturale and loving it. I will definitely go back to The Electric Chair next time I need a trim.

Hair type: frizzy curly Cut: from out of control mop to reasonable, somewhat professional but still personable. Price: $ 25 + $ 10 tip(they should charge twice that) Ren gave me a terrific, no-drama hair cut. He navigated well the balance between listening and offering suggestions. Like a team player. Conversation was smooth and interesting. Seemed like we should have been drinking a beer though(@Ren, is hair/booze a complicated business license to obtain?). My wife is the rare woman who likes her man as shaggy as possible, so big haircuts are tough days for her. This is the first time I’ve come home shorn and found her happier than when I left. She says it’s the best haircut she’s seen on me. Women with long blonde/streaked hair will feel comfortable as soon as they enter, as 90% of the stylists and patrons fit this description. But if you’re not one of these, take heart. Ask for Ren. Or the others; I’m sure they’re good too. Thanks!

BEFORE: I had been growing out my bangs for a few months and they had that awkward chunky look. My hair is red/naturally wavy/moderately thick/long(5 – 6 inches past my shoulder)/ full of split ends. I asked for a layered, full body look(Victoria’s Secret — ish). AFTER: The layers are fabulous! My hair looks much healthier, the grown-out bangs now frame my face nicely, and the wind-blown/tousled curls styling was exactly what I asked for. Great haircut for $ 45(not including tip)! OVERALLEXPERIENCE: Nathan cut my hair and his assistant helped with the styling. They were both friendly and obviously talented. The salon has an edgy, down-to-earth vibe. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a youthful, fresh hairstyle :) PS They are very accessible by bus, so support public transit and take a $ 2 roundtrip busride into downtown Boise :) PPS They have this totally awesome painting of Edward Scissorhands back where they wash your hair :)

Do I actually fly to Boise sometimes to get my hair done here? Yes. I do. The downtown location is not always super convenient(I usually pay to park) but the salon itself is welcoming, low-key, friendly and enjoyable. Owned by two stylish brothers, the salon is a much-needed addition to the hair world(or lack thereof) in Boise. Their prices are reasonable and I’m always pleased with the results. Bethany does my hair and I’m quite fond of it… and her. Seeing her is like getting a 2fer special because she’s talented and quite entertaining. Similar to dinner and a show. Ren works on my sister’s locks and she always looks fabulous.
