Both my wife and I thought highly of Jon. His art is clean, straightforward, fast and all for a fair price. Highly recommend him.

My wife got a tattoo here the end of September with Dustin. She got a pretty simple tattoo. The artist choose a size that was too big for the placement location. Next when tattooing he didn’t keep his lines strait and didn’t pay attention to arm placement and the resulting skin stretch that ended with an area of the tattoo that should have been round, having a curvy line. He also did a poor job with shading or the lack there of. When the shop owner was contacted he offered only lame excuses. Clearly the owner is ok with low quality work leaving his shop he honestly does not care. He even made comments about the other tattoos my wife had that greatly alluded to his inexperience and general tattooing knowledge. This shop should not be trusted with permanent placement of art on your body. Search around some more there have to be far better options in Boise.

I’ve been getting poked with color needles for about the last 22 – 23 years; and I’m not quite 40, so you get the picture. I’ve been poked in Brooklyn, Seattle, Hollywood, Salt Lake City, and Boise, in my home, at a social ‘gathering’, and mainly in storefront actual tattoo shops. The thing I really REALLY love about Devotion, is that John just refuses to be a pretentious douchesack. He answers the phone, and just acts like a human who appreciates that you also are a human. In an industry fraught with faux rock starITIS, and HIPSTeeeeeRRR RockaBILLY post PunK EMO alt BS attitood; this shop just sort of feels fresh, clean, modern, and above all, FRIENDLY. There’s no one here trying to make you feel like you aren’t as cool as them. And I for one really appreciate that. Additionally, the entire show is run beyond professionally, from start to finish, from the very clean and inviting décor, to the options for payment, including Credit and Debit cards ** I myself am a small to mid sized business owner, in a wholly different field; and John runs this business with old fashioned ethics and a decided lack of politics. They have earned my long term business for SURE, as well as being a new favorite for GIFTCERTIFICATE giving ******* Very Well Done!!!

I had a small piece done by Weston while I was in town for the holiday. Weston took my idea and turned into art. He was great to work with and I was very pleased with the end result. Their customer service was awesome. Would definitely recommend!

An aspect of tattooing that’s often lost in forest of important variables is the tattooists’ ability to take your idea and articulate that idea back to you in pictorial form. It’s an indelible mark. The importance of a tattooists ability to do this cannot be overstated. Enter Jon Morse. Jon’s owned Devotion for 9 years. Bay Area born and bruised, Jon’s a really nice guy. He’s patient, has a steady hand, runs clean lines, and has a way of gleaning what you want with expertise and ease. Having an idea for a tattoo is one thing. Having an idea for a tattoo where the tattooist can capture it and accurately translate it onto your body is where issues can develop. Intro: I had an idea. Full sleeves, Japanese themed dragons/tigers, both arms, full color, 5 weeks. I reached out to two artists in early May: Jon Morse(Devotion) and Darcy Nut(Chalice Tattoo). Jon called me within a couple hours of the email. I’ll let you know how my work turns out with Darcy as I’m still waiting on her to return my email. Perhaps her assistant will get back to me? Maybe her assistant’s assistant? Jon and I had a real nice chat over the phone. I’m posted overseas with Diplomatic Security and had a very finite window with which to accomplish the work. I had a very rough idea of what I wanted and gave Jon my idea. Jon gave me a very precise estimate about the time involved and explained some of the variables that might make the work longer or shorter. No BS and no hype. Fair enough. Straight up guy gives me the straight dope. We scheduled every Thursday until I had to leave. From there we conversed regularly in order that he get a more exact idea of what I was looking for. First Session: I walked into Jon’s shop and noticed 3 things: Clean(I’m not going to walk out of Jon’s shop with a bacterial infection in my testicles from e. coli hanging out on the needles), well designed interior(I didn’t feel like people were cooking meth in the back), and a very clear line delineating where tattooing began(You chill and play pool here; we tattoo over there — do not cross the line uninvited). There’s a magnificent fish pond and pool table in the waiting parlor and this is where Jon and I met. He showed me the design he had come up with and he had clearly worked very hard on getting all the elements that I had requested into the design. It was magnificent. I wanted to add a dragon to the tiger design and a tiger to the dragon design. This is where I knew Jon was legit. There was no pressure, no passive aggressive remarks on requiring me to reschedule. It was,” here’s the best way to do that, here’s your options, let’s reschedule for the day after tomorrow so I can rework the design. Cool? Tits. See you then.“ And that’s what he did. He reworked the design so that it was a perfect manifestation of what I envisioned. A good tattooist is part artist part mind reader to some extent. Jon accomplishes this with mellow and zero pretension. Summary: Jon’s got a really steady hand. He works super fast. He does brilliant work adapting your idea into workable art on your skin. Pleased with the work? Absolutely. Adequate preparation? Without question. Good dude? The best. Still have enough for a 6 pack and a movie for my wife and I? Bowchickabowwow.

Dear Jon Morse, Thank you for taking on my tediously intricate line-work tattoo despite all the odds against us and for letting me listen to the Sword while I received said tattoo(BONUS). A few years later it’s holding up fabulous(I don’t even need a touch-up) and I get compliments every day on your work. YES! — Hayley
