Great ambiance, great food, great vibe & great service. Overall an A grade. Might be a tad overpriced for Boise, but you get what you pay for

The one star is for our first impression! We are staying at Hotel 43. We had just had dinner a few blocks away. We thought we would end the night with some jazz, dessert & drinks. As we, a party of 3 at 8:30pm, approached the hostess with our request for a table, we were given the brush off, told to go to the bar area & find our own table with no explanation. She was rude & inappropriate. It was too cold to leave and find a more welcoming place. We proceeded to the packed filled bar area with NO empty tables. So we stood around for a few and ordered drinks from the bar. Atmosphere & jazz was great! After about 20 minutes a table opened up and we sat ourselves. Our waitress, Tina was delightful! She suggested a chocolate soufflé that was not on the dessert menu along with our Salted Carmel Brûlée and Trifecta. All were amazing. Enjoyed the music, drinks with our yummy desserts. Service was excellent. If it wasn’t for the rude hostess, I would have given them 5 stars.

Huh. So this is the big hitter, the great Boise steakhouse, eh? This is the big showy thing we have when people ask if Boise has fine dining or high end restaurants? Well… the expensive part is definitely there and the bar is the rival of any hotel restaurant I’ve been in. A guy softly strumming the guitar and doing classical runs tastefully, also nice. Dim, dim, dim and everything is in hushed tones. Great. Limited, exclusive hours… oh yeah, you’ve got to fight to get in… except when the place never gets more than 1⁄3 full… other than those times, I mean. There is weirdness also, such as the one area that is entirely lit by red recessed lighting. Don’t eat there. Trust. This place reminds me more of someone who described a Chicago steakhouse they ate at once and someone modeled a restaurant around those fond reminisces. I’ve moved a lot away from red meat in general, but not before eating a ton of steaks across a sustained number of years and this place doesn’t quite hold up in the food department. I’ve heard from others they do everything on the menu better than the steak, which isn’t really what you want in a steakhouse… or at least not what I want… Their mustard peppered tuna was… interesting, but frequently bitter. I really dug the popcorn on the table, but asking for hot black tea(I know, I know) was an interesting experiment. I suggest you don’t conduct that one yourself. The cut I went with was a Delmonico, so, bone-in filet. Lots of tendons and gristle, which made the non-serrated knife I got no match for it and which made eating it a chore, very clearly somewhat of a poor cut. There were enjoyable spots in it, but they didn’t make up for the other parts and they mostly got the medium rare part correct, though eating under the red light definitely made that determination somewhat harder than normal. All of the pieces had a significant amount of «chew» to them. The cheese crusted tomato half was acceptable, but I switched the mashed potatoes for asparagus, which was partially woody, entirely undercooked and completely bare of Hollandaise. They did give me a flight of sauces, peppercorn(tasted like green), chimichurri and Béarnaise, but none of them were very good. Again, we have the description of things, as in they all looked correct, but none of them tasted right. The food on the plate was shockingly light, in comparison to the price. Rare time I got a dessert, which was the salted caramel crème brulee. It needed Grand Marnier, but I get it, not in the ingredients, so fine. The brulee part was fine, but the torched layer was far too thick and there should have been both a better scattering of the salt and more of it. Service, at least, was flawless and I think they definitely want to run a high end place. My suggestion to them would be then to go to an actual high end steakhouse and eat at it every day for a week then come back and fine tune and fix. As it stands now, this place is substantially overrated.

Just moved into town and came here to celebrate. We had a fantastic experience — five stars in every way. Seth was our waiter and provided excellent service, and wine and food recommendations. We visited on a Friday night and they had a live jazz band — great! Ahi Tower — really really fresh ingredients — so good! The 5oz Waygu beef was the most tender steak I’ve had, but next time I’m looking forward to trying their bone-in ribeye. The Waygu includes two sides — we chose mac n cheese and creamed spinach. The creamed spinach was perfect. I’ll order next time for sure. Mac n Cheese was good, not great. Between the two of us, we probably only needed one side, but we finished both because they were both delicious. Chocolate Soufflé — can’t wait to come back for this. We might visit just for dessert and wine so we can try this again soon!

Food was amazing! Steak was like butter. Desserts left me speechless. Classic elegant steakhouse with dim lighting, and outstanding customer service.

A Classy, very classy place. Everything is top notch. Service, food, drinks, ambiance, you name it. Even if you can’t afford the 75 dollar steaks, take advantage of the happy hour in the bar. The bar menu has great food as well. I bought Korean steak bites for myself and Oso for my girlfriend, both of which were nothing short of phenomenal. Best food of Boise. I even got an order for my dog. My Tibetan mastiff’s tongue rolled out like a red carpet and I’ve never seen him so satisfied. Go here!

I’m in town for business and never have been to Boise before. I looked up reviews and this restaurant had great reviews. I am not a total food snob but to some I’m probably considered that way at times. I arrived at the restaurant and it was bustling and piano music playing. Atmosphere was modern and busy. There was one seat at the bar left and I quickly snagged it. I was immediately greeted. The staff was great! They helped me make a decision as to what I wanted from my wine selection to dinner. They were extremely attentive but not in your face. Now the food… I had the prawn cocktail… sooo good!!! Then I had the sea bass which was awesome. I didn’t want the potatoes so the server kindly asked the chef to substitute it for extra spinach– just amazing. Dinner was great. I’m here 2 more nights and there may be a strong possibility I’ll end up there again. If you are watching what you spend just note this is fine dining. My dinner was almost $ 100 with tip but well worth it. Just know this when you go.

It’s been a few years since we’ve eaten at Chandlers. We decided to go back after a friend who is new to Boise said that it’s her favorite place to eat. Wow! There have definitely been changes made and all for the better. The menu is newer with more prix fixe choices and we saw a lot of new faces of staff members and servers. The manager was new from the last time we were there and he was out and about checking on diners and questioning them about their meals and service. Our server was prompt, courteous, and helpful. Now, the food. My husband and I both chose the prix fixe options of a salad/soup, entrée, and dessert. He opted for lobster bisque which came with a carafe of sherry and crème fraiche. I had a wedge of iceberg with a peppercorn dressing. Both of these choices were very good. The soup was flavorful with an obvious aroma of lobster broth and the sherry and crème made it special. For the main courses, I had double lamb chops cooked medium with mashed potatoes and carrots. My husband had prime rib cooked medium rare. Both entrees were cooked to order, flavorful, and tender. We ended up taking half of our food home. I will say that this is a good value — -$ 39 for three courses! Dessert was cheesecake or chocolate mousse. We had one of each — both delicious. The coffee was freshly brewed and robust. The ending to an excellent meal. We also noticed that the restaurant was full, and it was a Sunday evening. It’s good to know that this Boise based steakhouse has become a popular venue in the downtown!

We really enjoyed our visit, the food was really good and the service was even better. We had the tuna appetizer which looked great on the plate and was delicious followed by the lobster bisque which was deep and rich in flavor. For steaks we had the grass fed fillet and the standard fillet, they were quite different from one another, the grass fed had much more bite to it and a great flavor between the beef and seasoning and the standard was what we expected beef butter! For desert we had the chocolate soufflé and the cheesecake both were absolutely delicious. Our servers name was Jason and he did an excellent job, knowledgeable and there when we needed him, even the gentleman clearing and setting up tables was attentive and knowledgeable. We will absolutely be back.

Everything was absolutely wonderful! From every employee working the floor to every last bite of food, everything was spectacular! Coming from someone who has worked in a restaurant for over 15 years and now owns a restaurant, I was very impressed. My filet mignon was deliciously perfect, I literally said Mmm with every bite, it was tender yet meaty, buttery and perfectly seasoned. My salad was fresh and delicious, my husband had the lobster bisque which was creamy and flavorful and the cheesecake was divine! Now I know why all of our friends come here so often. We will be back!

After years of eating at Boise’s upscale restaurants we were excited to try Chandlers and were completely disappointed. The service was horrible, the server actually blamed other customers for it taking half an hour to take our order and the food was unexceptional. We ate at chilis the next day and got significantly better service, chandlers should blow chilis away and they completely dropped the ball, we won’t be back but will eat at Ruth’s Chris instead.

How did Chandler’s do with a first timer such as myself? Let me tell you what makes this place so special is the EXPERIENCE, even on a Sunday night they didn’t cut any of it short. It’s no secret I am one of Unilocal’s toughest critics, because it’s hard to hide mistakes from someone who knows how to cook fine dining. My official score is 4.5 yet I am swayed by the exceptional service to push it to 5. *Pre Dining– Chandler’s phone service was the very appetizer to what I would soon experience. I called a few times just to get information, each time the lady was friendly and so knowledgeable. She had no problems telling me menu items, specials, and suggesting we set a reservation(I’m glad we did) *Atmosphere– We both enjoyed the live jazz music that added to the ambience of an already classy place. The lighting is dim and each table flickers with a oil lamp to give that extra intimate feel. Everything is done so you FEEL like you want to spend money … and then you do lol The lighting is not the best for pictures as you will notice, but hey not taking a selfie for a few hours won’t kill you or will it? *Service– My favorite thing even over the food was our server Lucas and how personable he was. He was full of information and answered all of our questions, it really felt like we were at a friends house for dinner. He took extra time with the menu explaining items and finding out about us. Every step of the way he was there throughout the meal, also our drink was always filled which we appreciate. *Food– Since it was our first time we wanted to ease in and went for the Sunday night special $ 30 for 3 courses.(Amazing deal for the experience). App– Lobster Bisque/creamy, well seasoned, tender chunks of lobster with a nice bread for dipping. Entrée– Duck two ways/My friend enjoyed this it was cooked perfectly, the duck confít tasted similar to dark meat turkey. He didn’t care for the polenta just a preference of taste and texture. Mac n cheese was not my favorite, seemed it was over powered by herbs and a tangy mustard like flavor. Entrée– Lamb/My lamb was nice thick chops oven roasted to perfection(medium rare) It was very well seasoned just a tad to much salt from the rub but the apple mint chutney mellowed it out. My baby carrots were sautéed so they had a bit of bite, the weakest element was the potatoes au gratin very bland and needed help. Dessert– Lucas was able to get us the chocolate soufflé as it is kinda famous… WEHADTOTRYIT! It did not dissapoint either in SIZE of flavor. It is accompanied with a whipped cream w a hint of orange and a chocolate ganache(sauce) you pour over and it is heaven. Well worth the money and a perfect ending to a great experience. Thanks Lucas! You are a Rockstar and I would come back and expect the same service from any other one of Chandler’s servers.

Celebrated our one year anniversary and thought we would try out Chandler’s. I really enjoy a great steak and have missed being from a big city where I would frequently enjoy a prime cut. We have tried the other prime steakhouse in town and were looking forward to trying Chandler’s. I made reservations online and everything worked out smoothly. They do have free valet service right next to the front door and I thought that was a very nice touch. Atmosphere: 5 stars. Very nice. Live jazz music in the background and the restaurant looked great. We were seated promptly even though we were 15 minutes early. Server: 5 stars. We had a server that had been working at Chandler’s for 5 years and she was a wonderful addition to our evening. She had a wonderful attitude, yet very professional. She changed out our silverware as we used it and gave us the perfect attention we needed while letting us enjoy our dinner in between courses. I thought this was an excellent touch and as we paid for our dinner, she validated our valet and had called the vehicle up so as we got up, the car was already waiting for us. Food: 4 stars. My wife and I decided to have the Prawns for an appetizer. We ordered an additional two prawns which gave us a total of 6 prawns. The cocktail sauce with our plump prawns was perfectly spiced. They were excellent. On Sundays, they have prime rib and other dishes that include a salad/soup and dessert for $ 30. I thought that was an excellent value. My wife got the lobster bisque which we both did not enjoy. She also ordered the prime rib and I ordered the 16 oz. Ribeye(well done) along with the Limousine salad. For side dishes we ordered the potatoes au gratin, a baked potato and mushrooms. Overall the food was good. I am being a little more critical with my 4 stars as I expect excellence in this price range. Our waitress asked us if we were celebrating any special occasion and when we told her we were celebrating our anniversary she gave us a chocolate desert that took 30 minutes to make and it was worth the wait. It was excellent. My wife’s meal included a desert which she nicely packed it up for us as we went home with a lot of food. My steak was good which comes with a side of mashed potatoes. I was a bit concerned at first that my wife ordered prime rib as she likes her meat and roasts medium well. My wife didn’t enjoy her prime rib as much as I did my Ribeye but it was not Chandler’s fault. The prime rib was cooked perfectly with excellent au jus and horseradish. Overall we had a great evening and food was good. I would love to come back and try other things on the menu, it all sounded so good. The Limousine salad was the winner of the evening. If you like all the ingredients, try it out.

Great steakhouse in Boise, we were impressed with this fine steakhouse. And surprised that the bottles of Idaho wine were half price that night Sunday. The service and food were excellent. I had the special veal piccata and it was awesome, my husband had the beef filet and loved it. If we ever return to Boise we well have another meal there. The staff was super too. Loved the atmosphere in this hip restaurant.

Chandler’s is definitely deserving of «As good as it gets». I found myself here on a special occasion(I’m pretty sure a 20 year wedding anniversary falls in that category) and our wait staff, Lucas, made sure our meal was special. We both started out with a cocktail and a shared appetizer(Crab Cakes), followed by a salad and then a main course selection(Scallops for her, Mahi Mahi for me). Each course was brought in a timely manner by staff who seemed to enjoy their jobs and truly worked together as a team. We then were treated to a complimentary chocolate soufflé, because my beautiful wife mentioned we were there for a special occasion. This was one of the better dining experiences I have had in Boise. Thank you to Lucas and the rest of the crew at Chandler’s for making this a memorable dinner. Chandler’s is a beautiful restaurant that serves up some pretty amazing eats and drinks!

I dined at Chandler’s for the first time last month for my 30th(gasp) birthday. I have had appetizers in the lounge before, but I really wanted to have a special dinner for a milestone birthday. We ordered the prawns and tartar for appetizers(both extremely delicious), I ordered a steak(MR, cooked perfectly) and my mother and cousin both ordered the scallops… my mouth is still watering over those scallops. Hands down, the best scallops I have ever had. They were cooked to perfection, served over potatoes with mushrooms on top. Truly an exceptional flavor combination. For dessert, we had the soufflé, incredibly tasty and not too sweet. I lived in France for a few years and this one definitely rivaled the soufflé(s) I had there. Chandler’s really is a top notch establishment. I am definitely going to be frequenting this restaurant more often than every 30 years… Not to be missed!

There isn’t a spot in Boise quite like Chandlers. The swanky atmosphere succumbs you into a rush of the fine dining experience. All of your senses are on pulse. You can hear the live jazzy-trio’s talent glazing over the soft chatter of the restaurant patrons. The setting is dimly lighted and romantic. I ordered the Sea Bass and my hell of a man ordered the Kobe Beef, but we didn’t stop there. We started off with the Pacific Oysters. They were fresh, firm and slippery. Just how you would expect them to be if you were next to the ocean. I would highly recommend trying them; you are going to the get the best taste Chandlers. My Sea Bass was rich, moist and tender. The Kobe Beef melts in your mouth. Not to mention the fabulous dirty-martini topped off with fresh green olives. I was in taste-bud heaven.

Chandlers is one of my favorite places for dinner! I have been coming here for a long time. The food is pricey but you definitely get what you pay for here. I very rarely give five stars to a restaurant. I try to avoid weekends because it can get very packed but if you make a reservation you are fine. The staff is always very attentive and has wonderful recommendations. You can’t go wrong with anything you order. The cocktails are amazing and they have a great wine selection. The photos I’ve posted are some of my favorite dishes. Great place for a special occasion!
