I went in wanting a new iphone and wanted to make SURE that all of my information would be saved and transfer over to my new phone, even if I waited for a bit and then backed up both the phones later. Ernest assured me (repeatedly) that the data would merge if I backed up both phones and then reset the new ones. He said that all my texts would definitely merge together as if I’d had the same phone the whole time. Well, I just tried to do that and that was not true at all. You can choose a backup, but they definitely don’t merge, as he said it would (my purchasing an iphone that day was DEPENDENT on this). When I called apple, they confirmed that this was not possible. If you want a new iphone, go to the apple store where the people are much more knowledgeable about their products and won’t lie to you to get a sell.
