My boyfriend and I visited Funky Buddha last evening. We will not be returning as the service was the worst! Waitress came to our table once to take our order and never came back? I tried to order a cocktail and the waitress said they don’t really have much alcohol they are more of a beer place. The menu had an entire page of cocktails??? The real surprise came we got the bill-there was a 18% gratuity automatically applied. Makes sense. No service because there is no incentive to be nice or helpful if the waitress is guaranteed a hefty tip. Don’t waste your time or your money.

Sometimes you just feel at home away from home. This is one of those places that will give you that warm feeling. It might need a little bit of a facelift, and all of the beer might not quite be at the quality level it was at early in its existence(I longed for something as great as Last Snow or original recipe No Crusts on the menu) but it’s still just so well run and comfortable that despite being hours and hours away, all I want to do is go back.

Great spot. All FBs are… Awesome, large and diverse selection of beers and teas. Some are constant and some rotate; especially the home brews. Food and hookah are very good as well. Reasonable prices… Very good atmosphere for date or hang out for any group size… Frequent events, such as hilarious comedy shows with top notch talent… Highly recommend!

By far the best Brewery on the East Coast. Unlike other breweries when you walk in you are first amazed by the size of the place and the bar restaurant set up. It has something for everyone, of course tons of beer to try, a few wines, food and games. The whole family would enjoy themselves with the friendly staff that enjoy talking to you and sharing various breweries to try from everyones hometown. Mr. Glenn loves the Don’t tell Reece Peanut Butter Cup Brown and I enjoyed the wine, wings and atmosphere. Definitely a must if in the Oakland Park area. #funkybuddhabrewery #fallynsfoodieexcursions #vacationshenaniganswiththemr

I like to write reviews. I really do. Especially for places I like! If a place is worth 4 or 5 stars, I want to write about it. Very rarely do I take the time to knock a place. It takes a lot to push me to that point. The Funky Buddha was a very pleasant and unexpected find. I stopped here while waiting for a date. I purchased a round for the two of us and hung out on some very comfy couches. The beers were reasonably priced as it was Happy Hour and I could’ve even ordered some Hookah if I wanted. This place brews it’s own beer! Beer drinkers rejoice! A place where you can get a fresh brew. Now, the ambiance is actually quite pleasant. It’s actually almost like a coffee house. Couches are strewn about the venue. I call it a venue because there is a nice little stage where they host open mics and live music regularly. After my date was complete and I dropped her off at her car(#Gentleman), I was sure to come back for the open mic. There was some pretty good local talent. Mind you there were a few artists that were let’s just say, «simple,» however that’s to be expected at an open mic. Funky Buddha has good brews and could provide a nice night out if you go on the right day. The staff was friendly when I was there and the fact that they have Hookah as well is a pleasant bonus.

I have heard many positive comments about the Funky Buddha so I looking forward to sampling their beers. I was in town for 3 nights and spent two different sampling periods at the Buddha. I tried most of the items. I thought the 3 IPAs were the least desirable beverages on the menu. I had the best Berliner Weisses I’ve ever had(Berries and Cream, Cherry-Pie, lychee-in my rank order) in my life. The Snow Bunny was amazing, the smooth chocolate flavor up front in this cream ale was all that. The taste and aroma of the Pitti hazelnut porter was much better than the regular Pitti porter. I would pass on the golden stout with lots of better options.

This place is great! While I can’t drink any beer for now the food was always really good and the atmosphere is a lot of fun. They have lots of screens to watch any sports you wish and lots of games to play with friends.

Service is great beers are to die for, carrot cake wheat amazing and pretty much go into Zen when having imperial choco orange. Yucca fries are tasty with the great brews can’t go wrong ****Accidentally reviewed here instead of the brewery in Oakdale.****

The funky Buddha sits on its laurels as a popular Boca hangout and never earns its clientele. It’s ambient atmosphere and live music are ruined by classically poor service. Over the years the staff continues to make customers feel like obstacles in their otherwise enviable lives. The bearded bartenders stare into your plebeian soul with expressions that strongly suggest any request will be met with disdain and impressively slow compliance. This stare is not in any shape or form a bluff. Expect to wait 15 minutes for anything even when it’s dead. You may have to play a game of cat and mouse where you need to coyly request the same thing 2 or 3 times. It’s fun if you hate yourself. Hookah is overpriced and hits poorly every time. They give you 1 instant light coal and you have to walk to the bar to get a new one. Don’t ask for 2 things at the same time; that sends the bartenders into a discrete yet severe panic attack that you won’t know happened until they bring you something that you didn’t ask for and berate you for informing them of their incompetence. Although they are cool sometimes I guess. I’ll probably be back next week.

I was expecting only the best from Funky Buddha. The beer was good, but after driving quite far to visit this location I was disappointed. First, they only provide flights/small pours of their classic beers. I like variety and I truly enjoy sours, but I was forced to commit to two very similar 12oz pours. Typically, I would’ve ordered 4oz pours until I found a favorite and then ordered a 12oz. The food menu was so lackluster that we drove to Delray to eat. they were offering pizza, quesadillas and paninis for silly prices. The bartender asked us «What tab name again?» three times, even though only 12 people were in the bar. Bonus: smoke, smoke everywhere. Not hurrying back.

I really want to like this place. Been there several times for music over the years. However, last night was most likely my last visit. I usually like craft beers once in a while and decided to try their cherry vanilla. My bf got it for me as I stood and watched the band. It came in a tiny glass(while his came in a pint glass) and tasted like cough medicine. When I returned it and asked for the dark beer my bf had which was good, the bartender asked me for $ 6.25 explaining that this wasn’t TJ Maxx where u can return something u bought. I was stunned and felt so blatantly ripped off. Smug kid, Boca attitude. No, u lost another. Oh and our heads are pounding this am. The warm beer we did drink(1 each) mustve Been sitting there a while. Never again.

Love coming to this place. The atmosphere is upbeat and the beer is 5 stars. When it’s crowed the noise level can be annoying since it’s hard to have a conversation. It’s a brewery, so what more can I ask for. Overall the location is perfect and parking isn’t bad.

One of the first craft breweries to open up in South Florida, Funky Buddha Lounge is a great place to grab some excellent craft beer with friends. With terrific live music in a dark and plush taproom, Funky Buddha is a fun hangout where you’ll definitely feel at home amongst the busy crowds — especially on the weekends.

I came here with a friend to watch the band. We ordered the hummus platter and some tea. The hummus was really delicious, I wanted like two more plates! I liked how they served the tea, and it was quite tasty. Loved the ambience and look forward to coming back.

A rip off. Decently priced beers, poor service, expensive hookahs. 18% gratuity is automatically charged to your bill regardless of party size. I went to order a beer and was told after buying drinks and food for a couple hours that we would have to leave or pay a $ 7 cover charge per person because of the no-name band playing(which we had already been watching for about 45min). Staff does not seem friendly. Recommend another bar or at least another Funky Buddah location.

A great spot for a drink, and a terrific open mic night for the arts on Wednesday nights! Mixed bag of talent, but some terrific performers! And a great hard cider, too! Head in, take a load off, and enjoy the fun!

This is one of my favorite local spots to go to. It has a great atmosphere, a great staff, and is always a good time. I’ve been for a few of their open mic nights on Wednesdays and it’s always a full house. The open mic host is really talented and I’ve had lots of laughs there. My favorite drink to get is the pitti porter(it’s a darker beer that reminds me of a coffee flavor). This is one of those places that you want everyone to know your name and drink order. It’s a cozy feel and always inviting to come back again.

Visited here with a friend based on the reviews and that they’re associated with Funky Buddha Brewery. Nice décor but that’s about all I liked about this place. They do not offer beer flights or even let you sample a single brew before buying a glass, and the bartender was very unfriendly. Foolishly we decided to stay and just go for it by choosing two of their brews blindly. Never again. They tasted so bad we just left after a couple sips.

We came down from Tampa for the anniversary event 9⁄26. First time checking out the place and really enjoyed it. It had a very laid back vibe to it. Servers were friendly and the beer was tasty. We were slightly apprehensive about coming down as we had heard the brewery can be hectic, but found out the lounge was very different. Overall it was a great event and I would highly recommended stopping in for beer.

How can you not love funky Buddha? It’s a cool place to get away for a while and grab a hookah or a snack. There’s no tvs so you can actually talk to your friends and listen to the live bands that they have. Sometimes they charge a cover but I don’t mind paying to help out these traveling musicians. Even if you don’t wanna listen to music they have a smaller lounge next door with no cover for a quiet more intimate atmosphere. They have lots of good choices with house made beer and an awesome hummus plate. No bud light here just awesome craft beer. Check this place out for sure!

I would never have gone to Funky Buddha if my daughters hadn’t twisted my arm. I don’t think I’m an old fart, but maybe I am… Anyway, it’s my new favorite place. Great beer, some from their own micro brewery. They have different entertainment on different nights including open mike nights and comedy nights. Great place to go, have a beer and chill. They also have a light menu, dessert, hookah, and a great selection of tea. I wish they would expand the dessert menu as it is a great place to go to hang out later in the evening aka: dessert time.

Can you believe that I lived in Boca for 2 years, and never came to Funky Buddha?! Truth be told back then it was more of a hookah spot, and my bf at the time being Egyptian had much more authentic hookah(or shisha) spots for us to go to, which we did a lot! Since Funky Buddha has expanded closer to me in Fort Lauderdale I’m a frequenter of that spot, but was pleased to head up to Boca last night to finally check out the lounge and indulge in Sour Fest II, seeing that I only discovered less an 2 months ago that Berliners are my thing! Finally I can fit in with craft drinking friends! Being that it was Sour Fest, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but found the parking pretty easy and the place relatively empty at 5:30pm(though by 7:30pm a good crowd had arrived). Inside is pretty large and incorporates tables, booths, high tops, counter space, all looking upon a large stage — they do have live music most nights of the week starting around 8pm I believe(which does mean a cover charge at this point). It was relatively easy to head up to the bar, or grab an employee walking around and give them an order, so kudos on that. They also had a water machine and cups like they do at the Brewery location(so not excuse for your hangover the next day lol). They do offer some food at this location, but I skipped that an elsewhere after I saw someone eating a less than appetizing looking pizza. I do think the lounge is a great chill spot for the Boca crowd, and realistically if you like craft beer and hookah this is your heaven. Personally I’ll stick the the Brewery location because I prefer the vibe there, and the shorter drive time. But if there’s another Berliner-centric fest, or friends are getting together up here, I’ll be back!

Great atmosphere and live reggae music on a Friday night. They have an awesome selection of beers. Only downfall was my first drink(la la lemonade) had black floaties in it. I asked for a new one and they were accomodating. I shall return but sticking with the beers though. :-)

For those of you who have been to the Oakland Park location and not this one, be prepared that the two are nothing alike except for both carry the Funky Buddha brews. Where as the location down south is mainly a huge brewery & tap room, the one here in Boca Raton is mainly a lounge with a bar. The main room houses a stage and a bar at the other side of the room. This place has the feel off a coffee house more than anything else. It’s a nice little lounge that has Open Mic nights and other events throughout the different nights of the week. I think they charge a cover for those nights and that’s kind of meh. I want to say that both locations have the same stock, I actually think that they each carry a few the other doesn’t. No doubt a great place to grab in house craft brew.

The OG of Funky Buddha Brewing, always has the standards, Hop Gun, Floridian, Red Dawn, Piiti Porter, however they always have small batches of their beers you will only find there, and some guest taps. Apart from the beers on draft, they have an extensive bottle list to choose from, pay close attention to the Bud Light on the beer list, it’s a good laugh. There is a huge selection of hookah flavors to choose from should you want to smoke from the hookah. They have weekly events posted on their Facebook page, follow it for updates, they are very good about maintaining it. Next door is their Home Brew shop, they offer classes, I wish I lived closer to attend the classes.

With the recent explosion of success with the Funky Buddha line of beers, there are many newbies that did not realize that it all started here first, at the Funky Buddha Lounge. And believe me, upon entering, no matter who waits on you, you will be reminded that the lounge was here first. Those that come here seem to prefer the lounge over the brewery. There is almost a sense of competition and side taking from the impression I get from both staff and customers every single time I have ever been to the lounge. Personally, I prefer the brewery on Oakland over the lounge in Boca. My reasons are abundant and can all be found in my former Unilocal Review of the Day. But, this is only my opinion and personal preference, and there are plenty of people that would disagree with me. The Boca lounge is a totally different experience than the brewery. For one, the lounge actually serves food. Another exclusive at the lounge is that they offer hookah with a massive assortment of flavors to choose from. They also have a better happy hour than the brewery since they reduce price in beer, food and hookah. Another standout for the lounge is that they sell home brew supplies and work with their customers on the brewing process. This is an enormous upside for people interested in homebrewing. Finally, the entire layout is totally different than the brewery. It has the feel of a cozy bar whereas the brewery is a spacious taproom. The Boca lounge also offers live entertainment on the weekends with live bands and attempts at standup comedy. However, the most important difference has to be with the beer. How could we not talk about the beer? Despite being tremendously smaller than the Oakland brewery, the Boca lounge brews numerous beers that never get served up at the brewery. Furthermore, Funky Buddha brewery beers are famous for being served at hundreds of other bars, but the Boca location does not share. They are proud of their beers and proud to serve them only at their location. Of course they serve some of the cornerstone Funky Buddha beers like the Floridian or Hop Gun, but many more vary. As many times as I have tasted beers at both locations, the brewery serves far superior beers than the lounge. I recently tried their So This is Christmas beer and despite the lure of mint chocolate, it was quite undrinkable. I was also very disappointed with their Grandpa Dunkel as it was probably the first dunkel in my life that I did not enjoy. But one of the more standard beers at the lounge, and not found in the brewery, is their Pitti Porter is this is certainly a huge standout beer and my favorite every time. All in all, this is an excellent place to come for unique beers in a cozy environment that offers a variety of entertainment options to go along with your beers, hookah and food.

If you’re looking for creative beer, certainly you’ll find it here. A favorite of mine’s the blueberry cobbler. Thinking about it is gonna make me slobber! The vibe inside is super mellow. The bartenders are handsome fellows! We tried the missionary ale and rye saison. Mom tried Terrapin’s Wake ‘n Bake, she likes to get her blaze on. The brewers here are so creative! The flavors are totally innovative! From pb&j, raspberry latte, oyster saison & Apple pie To fancy IPAs, tripels, ales & stouts. I could just die! Too bad, I missed a few on special release. I was really hoping to try the Don’t Tell Reece. I can’t wait to try more of their beers. But until that time comes, Cheers!
