GBS – The Beauty Store

Fabulous beauty supplies, and great service. Leana was especially helpful and nice. This place has it all! I like that it is a Florida owned company, and is not like the chain stores. They have major lines, and affordable prices.

I agree with other posts about selection etc. but I clearly went to this store on the wrong day because the girl working there was clearly having a bad day. This was only my second time there – the first time was very pleasant. I had a young girl helping me (I forget her name-​something with a T) – loved it and couldn’t wait to go back. Well round two was completely different. Some other girl Renee was working and was so aggressive with me and another customer. This was when I realized that she must get a commission if she sells me something. I was really turned off by this. What made my visit even worse was that this same girl kept disrespecting one of the other employees right in front of us. I hate when employees show their dirty laundry to customers — but the way this «manager» treated her employee was flat out disgusting. In the end I decided to leave and to be quite honest-​I don’t think I will ever go back!

What a fantastic selection! I was on stimulus overload in this store. I wasn’t expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised with the inventory. From everything to big barrel boars head bristle brushes to difficult to find shampoos and conditioners, this store has it all. They carry Butter London Nail Polish (cult-​status following) and even have lots of mini options for products. I purchased Korlane Dry Shampoo in a travel size spray bottle which was great as I was flying back to NY the same day. Staff is very helpful/​friendly and seems super-​knowledgeable. You can even join their rewards program and get 10% off with each purchase. I live in NY, but I plan to return whenever I’m back in Boca.

This beauty supply lacks variety. They don’t care any ethnic products for as large as the space is you’d be surprised to find 3 products for any ethnic group.
However, I love all the random beauty section in the front of the store of things you’ll never need but like to buy.
Aside from the products the customer service is HORRIBLE. The older lady with gray hair has always given me attitude. She is blatantly rude and disrespectful and I suspect she’s just a miserable person in general.
Recently I learned that the other staff members that are much nicer are aware of her bad attitude and customer service yet they still let her work the floor and the register. Doesn’t make sense to me… fire her or keep her away from the clients and it’s unfortunate because I have only been her about 10 times in 3 years and 8 of 10 times I’ve had the «pleasure» of working with her so as you could imagine i only go when I am in desperate.
Plus their prices are too high you can get the same flat irons, or products at Ulta fr cheaper.
I say go to Ulta it’s right down the street better service and a bigger selection.

The store itself is simple and sterile in appearance, but it has a great selection of professional beauty supplies, including hair products, cosmetics, and skin care items. I go here for hair straightening serums, and the prices are very reasonable. I also like the fact that they also carry specialized products from all around the world.

The store is small but they pack A LOT of salon quality beauty supplies here… this is no Sally’s…this is upscale professional salon items at discounted prices. I always come here when Im in the mood for a new Zoya, Essie, or OPI nail polish, they even have some colors for $ 2 in a plastic bin. Can’t beat that price! The ladies are also always willing to help you find whatever you need and will tell you what will work for you and what won’t. They have cute little items at the register that are always hard to resist when leaving the store.

Whenever I first arrive back in my hometown of Boca Raton, Florida I wonder why I decided to leave the sunshine behind for the brutal Chicago winter. And then by day 2 in Florida my hair looks like I’ve took my finger in an electrical socket and I remember that humidity is not my friend.
On my most recent trip to Florida I decided to abandon the blowdryer and flatiron and embrace my naturally curly hair, something I have not done since middle school. I asked someone with «pretty» curls in my workout class about the product she uses and she suggested DevaCurl.
Hours later I stepped into GBS to learn what this DevaCurl product was all about. My mom and I were greeted by a very helpful woman who explained that DevaCurl isn’t really a product, but a process that has revolutionized curly hair. Tell me more! And it was quite the process… a special shampoo, followed by a special conditioner, followed by a gel that had to be applied a specific way in the shower. The helpful sales associate even brought over one of the hairdressers who works at GBS to explain exactly how to apply this to my hair. How’s that for excellent service?
And for those of you blessed with straight hair you’ll be happy to know GBS has lots of other beauty products– pretty much any beauty product you need!
Although I’ve returned to my straight locks now that I’m back in Chicago, I did really like DevaCurl and will be using it again next time I’m back home in humid South Florida.

I really like this place. It’s very organized and the staff is always friendly. Not only that but they know their stuff.
Hair products, nail products, accessories, and more — it’s girlie haven or close to it.
I love that they never push a sale. If they don’t have what you’re looking for or they feel you would be better buying a product they don’t carry they will tell you — they work for your needs instead than for their pockets, which result in happy/​returning customers.

While up in Boca Raton, I took advantage of the trip to stop at this store. I’d been here before but never bought anything, and this weekend I found myself in need of more Hollywood tape and french tip nail polish.
Quickly went to the Essie section to get Blanc, and stopped at the section with all the essentials to prevent wardrobe malfunctions. Got what I needed and was on my merry way.
The attendants at this location are younger (and trendier) than those in the Gables location. The ladies in the Gables are very friendly, I just felt that the girls here in Boca were much more, and very talkative. I’ve gotten this impression the two times I’ve been at the store. And with the place being so girlie, it’s always great to have conversations with the staff and customers around, as everyone has always been able to share one great beauty tip or another.
