Sally Beauty Supply

The older woman who is has been an employee there for years is now the reason I will not shop there. I have on numerous occasions asked her info on hair extensions and hair color. Not only did she sell me the wrong item but was not polite! Even criticized my hair color I was choosing then sold me the wrong bleach for it. Had to go back and spend more money and asked to speak with someone who knew the product. Neither women seemed to be happy to help me.
From now on, I’ll stick to purchasing online. Prices are the same or lower but I get people happy to help me

I’ve never been to Sally Beauty Supply, didn’t know that they were within the Fifth Avenue Shops (which looks so deserted cause Publix was demolished to make way for a #SuperPublix), but admit to buying items in other beauty supply stores over the years.
After all, every sensible man, whether straight, gay, undecided or asexual, knows he should look his best, for who wants to be around anyone who doesn’t take care of their basic body stuff? Not I, even if I grew up in NYC projects in Canarsie [along with Howard Schultz, but that’s another chapter in my book]. And being #YelpElite, working each day to spread #truth to my fellow Unilocalers, and those who just find this listing by chance, I am obliged to submit this timely review. And, one cannot go to a UnilocalElite or UYE looking unkempt, although, come on guys, you should at least change your tee-​shirts and put on a new pair of shorts, #GetFashionForward.
My esposo and I wandered in here b/​c we went to Radio Shack, now known as Sprint/​Radio Shack (I’ll leave that for another review), and he said «oh, let’s stop here, I desperately need a BUFF & SHINE BLOCK. And when he says «desperately needs», I stop what I am doing and satisfy that need, as I know how to satisfy my esposo.
So, we walk into the store, and like there is no one. No customers, no staff. Esposo starts to wander around, looking for his BUFF&SHINE BLOCK, and I say, loudly «hello, anyone home? Anyone to help us bros?» And suddenly, from the backroom (no, Marqus, not THAT KIND of backroom), appears a lovely young woman, and I introduce myself and ask her name, and she replies «Carrie, like in the movie, but I am not like her», and I feel relieved, and ask her «are you blessed?», and she gives me the biggest smile that Allen D. could ever dream about, if he has such dreams, and replies «yes». I knew we were made for each other, and everything would be fine. And it was.
She helped us find the MIRACLE BUFF & SHINE, and we bought 2 (so many choices and sizes), I got anxious, and I immediately checked in and ask for SuperEliteSavanna help, but she defers to Jessica as the «Sally Beauty Supply expert». Well, I always thought Jessica was beautiful, I just didn’t know she was a Sally Beauty Supply expert. Now I do. #AnotherLessonLearned.
Also, I found the CHAMOIS BUFFER that I need — NOTE FOR THE RECORD– I do not buff my own nails. I get a professional manicure every 2 weeks by TAMMY AT BOCA NAILS (she is wonderful), cause that’s what a well groomed man should do, and do not take a nail clipper out of my pocket while in business meetings or at lunch or dinner and clip my nails. Whenever I see a guy do that, especially if he has that nail clipper on his keychain, I am flabbergasted. Dude, who wants to have your damn nails flying anywhere near me, or hear you clipping them in a meeting? Are you a damn fool? «Is that how your Mama raised you?» would be the question asked by my former colleagues in DC. And mine did not…
Sally has a lot of stuff. I mean A HUGE LOT. ALL OVER THE WALLS. ALL OVER. [LOOK AT MY PICS] But like I said, I was focused, on a mission, and got the Magic Buffer Block and Chamois Buffer (which my manicurist keeps in a little plastic box with the names «MAX &DENI» on it, along with a nail file and my buffer cream. Oh, esposo wanted to get a new bottle of buffer cream, and I insisted the bottle that Tammy keeps for us is still good, and he said «it expired, we had it for like 10 years», and I said «It doesn’t expire. It lasts until the bottle is empty». After all, I need a pinch a penny or two so I can continue to afford SBUX.
Before checking out, I ask Carrie if she knows about Unilocal, she didn’t, and I showed her the listing for Sally on-​line on my sexy Black iPhone 6, and she was amazed, and of course, I ask «Can I take your picture?», and at first she says «no, I don’t want my picture out there», and I respond «I’ll tell everyone what AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE you extended to these #BOCAGAYBOYZ, don’t worry, I am not hitting on you, and maybe it will bring more folk into your store. I also promise her «rights of rejection», as I do with every person’s photo I take before posting.
She is checking me out, I had agreed to become a member of the SALLY BEAUTY CLUB for $ 2.50, and immediately got my discounted prices, and a coupon for $ 5 off, effective the next day. I left so pleased, and will return today to buy another few Chamois Buffers, cause they don’t last that long, as every well groomed man should know. I need back-​ups. (I used to buy them on Amazon, but they are no longer offered at a decent price, and not offered PRIME, and I’m not paying $ 8.51 to have it shipped to me. No way. I will return to SALLY BEAUTY SUPPLY, seek out Carrie, and present my shiny green Beauty Club card.
(My best friend Ken’s Mom was named Sally, or maybe Sallie, and she wore a ton of makeup, almost looked like a clown, but I don’t think this business has anything to do with her).

The only thing i like about Sally Beauty Supply is that they have good clip in extensions. However I am not a fan of their extension policies and not being able to return them. I bought 18 inch blond extensions but they turned out to be the wrong color, I didn’t even realize it when I was in the store. It was a slight bit darker shade of blonde than my regular hair. I know that doesn’t sound like a big deal but it seriously makes all the difference in the world. I hadn’t even put them on my head or taken them out of the box so I went back to go return them. They gave me a super hard time about being able to switch the extensions out with the correct color, which basically was going to be $ 120 thrown out the door for me. So I started crying because I was extremely frustrated… The manager felt bad and let me switch it out but they didn’t have The 18 inch extensions in my color, they only had the 14 inch ones which were like $ 20 cheeper, so i got that and switched them out and didn’t get the difference I was technically owed, but oh well. I just think they should have a better extension policy because it’s really frustrated and common for people to get the wrong shade and I don’t think their loyal customers should have to deal with problems like this.
When it comes to everything else in Sally’s they have pretty good stuff and you can literally find anything for your hair but I would definitely say they are over priced. I wish regular stores carried Shimmer Lights but Sally’s is the only one who does. Also the employees really aren’t the best or attentive. They all need attitude adjustments and at least pretend to act like you love your job. It’s like pulling teeth trying to get someone to help you out. Especially at this particular Sally’s.

I come here for my nail files and false eyelashes. They have a bigger selection and better quality then any none cosmetic store. My favorite nail file is one that doesn’t leave your nails with those jagged edges that break later. You should know what I mean if you use the cheep-​o ones you can buy at Walgreens.
