I’m not sure what to say. I went to Twigs last week expecting a nice meal and was sorely disappointed. I’m hoping to save others the trouble and money. It’s not the service, the service was fine. It was the food. Terrible quality, poorly executed. Do not go to Twigs if you are looking for a high quality meal. There are a dozen places in the High Country that are doing things much, much better at that price point. Our salads amounted to some mixed greens frozen on a frozen plate(clearly plated hours ago and stuck in a freezer) with a massive glob of dressing on it. Salmon was burnt and dry. Not one redeeming quality about the meal other than knowing we can stop considering Twigs as an option for a nice meal. I have never encountered a restaurant where you can be so fooled by the menu. Please don’t be fooled. It’s amateur hour.

Cute atmosphere, good music, but slow service. The pork ribeye was interesting and fairly good, chorizo black beans were the highlight. The Mahi was very fishy and a disappointment. The Apricot brandy shrimp were tasty but different than described. Salad dressings were excellent. Also the menus looked very old and were dirty, not to par with the price range. Could use some improvements based on the price range, but would try again.

Treated like we had leprosy. Waited forever for a seat in an empty dining room. Ordered only appetizers as we don’t eat heavy later in the evening. Ignored most of the time, no dessert offered, and check brought to table with meal. Table next to us treated like royalty. moving here but will never return to Twigs… total fail.

Hostess was totally rude, we waited for 5 min for them to «set a table» while we stared at a near empty dining room, all tables set and she chatted with the servers. Gave up and left.

Terrific cuisine & pleasing atmosphere! The veal liver was out of this world. We were with friends & everyone was happy. Great wine selections, too.

We discovered Twigs while on our first visit to Blowing Rock, NC. This place is awesome, they serve high quality food at fairly decent prices. The service is excellent and the ambience is great. We were a large group so we got to try a lot of dishes. We had the Crab Cake, the Beef Tips, the Fried Green Tomatoes, the Mountain Trout, the Filet Mignon, the Wild Salmon, the Chicken Breast, the Lamb Shank. Everything was outstanding.

Went here the night before my son graduated form APP State. For the price I wasn’t really impressed. Our server was also very detached and not very friendly.

This place is overrated. BEWARE. My husband and I went there and there was nobody in the restaurant. Our food came out Barely luke warm. My $ 30 lamb chop entrée was fatty as well as not hot. I asked them just to heat it up, but they overcooked it. It was so overdone that I could not eat it. Their house vinaigrette dressing was terrible. It tasted like they opened a jar of chunky Ragu sauce. Ridiculous Excuse for salad dressing. Their red rice, another«starch choice» was cold And tasted like they poured basalmic glaze in it. Terrible. I sent back the meal a second time and told them I did not want it. They had the nerve to try to charge me for it. We requested to speak to the manager but he never came by. I thought that was highly rude and unprofessional. As a new resident to Blowingrock, I will never go back to TWIGS again. I told the waitress, who was very sweet and apologetic, to Tell them I am never coming back. They still did not seem to care Because the manager still didn’t come! I’m so happy for them they can afford to lose customers and not care. I hope they continue to do business for people who don’t know a good meal from a bad one.

Food: Overall I would say the menu is standard for the type of food/prices. Nothing too exciting, but something for everyone. Seventy percent of our rather large party enjoyed what we ate. The other 30 percent was not good. The NC trout wasn’t very good, but the biggest tragedy was the filet(unseasoned) that was cooked far past med. rare. Very sad. My order, the featured fish dish, was tasty. Service: Yes, this is the reason why this is two stars. .. I am the first to admit my family is difficult. I know this however, while I sympathized with our young waiter, we could have done without the eye rolling. We were without water refills on several occasions and it took about 30 minutes to get the large cheese plate. And although they were not obligated to, it would have been nice of the restaurant to comp dessert the 80-year-old birthday girl ordered. Bottom line: Even though I enjoyed everything I personally ordered, I will not come back unless it is another family-birthday celebration and not up to me.

I thought this place was soooo cute. Before we went to NC to visit my boyfriend’s family I asked him if there was anywhere they always go so I could look it up on Unilocal(haha) and he told me Twigs. We indeed ended up coming here and it was really good. I loved the ambiance inside it had like hanging lights up all around it felt kinda like you were in a forest(I mean this in the best way possible). I had some kind of muddled raspberry vodka drink which was tasty and ordered the salmon. The salmon was super good only complaint would be that there were like banana peppers on top which didn’t seem to go with the rest of the dish but it was cool I just pushed them to the side. The house salad with their Gorgonzola dressing was good too. Everyone at the table liked what they got which is impressive since there were 7 of us. Really cozy and cute!

Ambiance and service were good but my medium rare tuna was well done and the«house specialty» crab cakes my wife had to spit out some of the crab. Kids menu has a 14 dollar Alfredo pasta? There is a lot out of whack here

We really like Twig’s and usually eat here once whenever we are in town. I have always had great food and service whenever I have dined here. This place is very popular with locals and does get quite crowded on weekends. The building is very cozy and welcoming, and it is in a very convenient location. While they are far from the coast, they do some very nice seafood dishes here, usually speials added to the menu.

Pretty good food, classy service. Enjoyed the trout and tried some of the lamb which was good. I liked the walnut salad dressing, but my friend said it was too sweet. He also wasn’t stoked about the pasta he got. Great decoration!

Twigs was recommended by my work associates who had dinner the night before. I am a foodie. I went in with my critical eye and taste buds and was pleasantly surprised. I had the mussels which were flavorful and delicious. This lead me to see what the chef thought was good– his special. I was very pleased with the flavor combinations of the catfish and the spinach risotto. The sauces, flavors and textures earned my 5 stars! Kudos Chef Wolfe who came out to answer some of my foodie questions! One suggestion– kick the wine list up a notch. I look forward to returning. Keep up the good work.

We had a very good culinary experience at Twigs and could certainly recommend the food, though the building itself could be improved upon. It seems like there were 3 distinct areas for seating: one area to the left as you entered, another to the right and a bar in between the two. We were seated to the left and I noticed the room was a bit drab. It felt like an old steakhouse and was rather plainly rustic and a bit run down, though«dressed up» with nice tablecloths. Also, it seems like the entire town of Blowing Rock is INLOVE with the decorative bark motif, inside and out. The food was good, though. Fresh, hot rolls were brought out upon our arrival. We shared the tuna appetizer that was cooked perfectly medium rare with a balsamic vinegar reduction tastefully drizzled over the top. Our salads came out next and they were solid examples of the genre. My lobster($ 36) was very good, served with rather plain(but not overcooked) asparagus and pretty decent pesto gnocchi. My Loving Wife ordered the petit Filet($ 30) and it also was perfectly cooked. The service was very good all around. One drawback we came across was that there is only one toilet for each gender for a restaurant that holds probably around 80 people. Also, the beer selection was not bad except no drafts were offered. In addition, the prices are a bit high for a lackluster ambience that isn’t pushing local or organic ingredients.

Food, service and ambience were wonderful on a chilly Friday night. Our waiter, Jay, was friendly, professional and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list. The staff was courteous and the food was great. We arrived on the evening that the staff had decorated for Christmas — the décor was beautiful and the smell of fresh pine amazing.

This is a really nice and cozy upscale restaurant in Blowing rock. I love the mountain cabin feel and the food was delicious. They have good food and great service but things are pretty expensive. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, food and service though. I would return.

A visit to Blowing Rock/Boone is not complete without a trip to Twigs for dinner. It’s on 321 near the Tanger Outlets and not far from the main drag. It’s got a nouveau-mountain feel, looking like a cottage from the outside. They’ve added a little alfresco area outside with strung-up lights and plants. Inside, it’s got low ceilings and looks very much like a house was turned into a restaurant. It’s rustic in a good way, with cool bark cornices and vinework around the windows. The bar is great – they have a large selection and a full menu that’s a little different from the main menu in the dining room next door. The bar does live music fairly often starting around 9pm and can get raucous. The dining room probably has about 15 tables and can be very active, but not so loud that you can’t hear your tablemates. The food here is just terrific, with a great variety of meat, fowl, game, and seafood. I’m very partial to the appetizer of peach-barbecued duck tenders with goat cheese. But the apricot-brandy marinated grilled shrimp are great, too. This past weekend, they had an appetizer special of calamari with a light cornmeal breading served with chipotle mayonnaise – heaven! Main courses are also creative and uniformly good, though to be honest I generally order one of the nightly specials which are usually distinctive. I’ve had ostrich fillet, cioppino, roasted red snapper, etc. etc. etc. and always loved them. I’ve been here upwards of 15 times and no one at my table has ever been served anything that was less than very good. The wine list is pretty extensive and very reasonably-priced(Château Ste. Michelle Riesling for $ 18 for example). The servers tend to be students from nearby Appalachian State, but despite the high turnover that kind of arrangement leads to, they are unfailingly pleasant and knowledgeable. The only real negative I can think of about this place is that the bathrooms are far too small for the amount of business they get, at least on weekends. If you’re going to Blowing Rock, this place should be on your to-do list.
