We went here today for the first time since we got a coupon in the mail for buy one get one free sandwiches. We ordered two of the Godzilla’s minus the jalapeño and shriracha and it was a pretty decent sandwich. That comes with choice of one small side, we got the pea salad which was good and then we got the pasta salad which was terrible. Way too much oil in that salad. We also ordered a banana pudding which was pretty good but not worth nearly $ 3 for the size we got. I would definitely go back if I was in the area but I wouldn’t drive past other sandwich shops just to get this one.

We walked into an empty restaurant that was dirty and very warm. The young woman behind the cash register told us that she could not take our order because the other employee want to get more $ 5.00 bills. Huh? We waited 10 minutes and walked out the door.

Okay. Well, not okay, but I must begin with taking a deep breath for this. I was charged $ 14 for a Sierra Mist(the best part so thank you, PepsiCo), «mac and cheese,» and a cup of soup. I watched the mac and cheese being made. The noodles were cold and reheated in a microwave; this made them gummy and flat. The cheese was literally the nacho cheese I find at movie theaters, straight out of a jar or can, bright orange-yellow cheese product, poured on top of the noodles. There was one strip of bacon or less in weird pieces on top. Then something white and chewy(I think it was supposed to be cheese, but it looked like scrambled egg whites). I asked if I was charged incorrectly for the manager’s special of pasta and soup and the manager on duty explained to me that I was charged for the full portion of M&C and soup and that my portions would be larger. I said that was okay because I was starving. My mac and cheese filled up maybe half the take-out box and the cup of soup was just that: one standard measuring cup. So if I got the manager’s special of smaller portions, would I have gotten one standard measuring half cup of soup and a quarter take-out box of mac and cheese goop? I was offered coupons, so I give the manager credit for that, but I cannot even believe the food that I must give it one star. New York City would be extremely disappointed.

Menu changed and now there is no ½ or full sandwich. They are all ½ sized at full size price. Stopped serving breakfast food. The Crew was the best deal they had.

We tried for the first time today June 172015. Won’t be back. Staff was not friendly, sandwich had very little meat. Nothing like the pics, hot sandwich appeared to b microwaved? Not sure but bread was soggy. went up to get condiments and glanced behind counter to see food all over the floor. Nasty! Now we know why there wasn’t a single customer. Very expensive for a lousy sandwich

Loved the Yankee Doodle mac and cheese here, until 5 minutes ago when I bit into a chunk of glass… Sooooooo guess I’m done going here for lunch :(

Came in 330 on a tuesday. Had deliman 9.99 special. Corned beef sammich, quartered pickle slice, n side with drink. on pastrami. opted for spicy mustard. Also Mac salad. reccomendation for Mac salad by clerk on point. Filled sandwich to perfection. Bread is light crispy and delectable. Toppings n cheese delish. Zero wait time, friendly staff. Reccomend as weekly stop that won’t crush a working man budget. A nice getaway from downtown. Did I mention clean and inviting atmosphere? Tv has news on, radio cranking a melodic depeche mode beat.

Came in here when passing through Bloomington. Had no idea what to expect but everyone I was with decided sandwiches sounded good so we stopped in. It was around 5 p.m. on a Friday and the place was EMPTY! I thought that was odd, but we went ahead and walked up to the counter and ordered anyway. I was completely overwhelmed by the choices! A lot of the sandwiches sounded like good options, but I decided on the Big Apple. It hit the spot. The bread was fresh and the combination of flavors from the meats and toppings was a winner. I also got one of the large pickles. Yum, perfect addition to the meal as I didn’t really feel like getting one of the sides. Next time, I’d love to try one of the breakfast sandwiches. I’m also thrilled that a location has opened in downtown Indy. I’m not in Bloomington very often, but next time I am, I’d consider stopping here. I definitely will be frequenting the Indianapolis location. Nice work Gandolfos!

I was given a 10 dollar gift card for Gandolfo’s for Christmas. The first time I went, they said the gift card machine wasn’t working, but they gave me a coupon for a ½ sandwich for free. I went again today, almost a month later since the first time, and again they said the gift card machine wasn’t working. I showed her the balance of my card on a smart phone and she shrugged. I wasn’t even given a coupon this time. This is really crappy customer service and I won’t be going back.

Decent food but not for the price. Microwaved sandwiches and bagged fries. To many good places in Bloomington to eat.

I was agreed at the door… not that’s a big deal. Lots of meat on the sandwiches which is the opposite of subway. Sandwiches were more than I could eat so I’ll be having the other half tomorrow for lunch. Counter people suggested sandwiches based on the types of meat I like. Place is clean and not too busy. Really fast at fixing our sandwiches even though we specially ordered. Coming back for sure.

Blah… Had a simple corned beef sandwich. Obviously it’s brined in a salt solution. But this was the worst, most salty corned beef I’ve ever had. The rye bread was OK, but nothing special. I picked at the meat and eventually tossed ½ or more of the $ 10 sandwich. The miserable Unilocal rating here is completely justified!

My husband and I stopped here on our way through town. We ordered the Reuben and potato salad and were WOWed. Everything was so delicious! I can’t wait to drive through town again to get another one!

My wife and I stopped by after church. The sandwiches were great. They were as close to true New York deli as I have seen in the Midwest. The service was excellent. From the guy that took the order to the service at the table was great. They are new to the area so give them a try.

The food was really good. Bathrooms were pretty gross but overall we were very pleased with our experience. You can’t go wrong with the meatball sub or French dip! Expect a little wait though bc they do make everything super fresh:)

Gandolfo’s New York Deli. It isn’t in New York, and I’ve been in my fair share of NYC delicatessens, so perhaps this review is a bit harsh. 3 stars rather than 4 stars? I don’t know. I suppose for Bloomington, it’s as close as I’m gonna get to a NY deli. Let’s start with the good.. . the sandwiches are tasty, the bread fresh and when you order ‘Deli Style’ you get a TON of meat. Like a deli. Of course that costs extra. I wonder if the opposite is ‘Subway Style’ and you get only 1.5 ounces of meat? The location is a bit difficult for me, as this is most likely a lunch place for me. But it’s on the west side in a strip mall, so I doubt I’ll get there often. If it was closer to work, I think I’d frequent this place. The menu has plenty of options, with fancy names for sandwiches of all types and styles. Hot, cold, bagel, rye, veggie, you name it. On my most recent visit I ordered the ‘Met’ which is basically roast beef, turkey and ham on a hero roll with lots of fixings. I left everything off except lettuce and cheese, and when ‘deli style’ the half sandwich is more than enough for any normal lunch. I tend to gravitate to ‘larger than normal’ lunch and it was still plenty. If you keep the fixings on it, I’m sure it is big as a house. On a past visit I had roast beef only(can’t remember the cute name for that one) and it was great too. NOTE: Before you berate me for leaving mustard and/or mayo off of a deli sandwich, know that i HATE both. I have a condiment aversion to most gooey sandwich toppings. Sue me. I suppose when I’m in the mood for a good sandwich, this will become a go-to place. Jimmy Johns wins when I’m in a hurry, Subway if I’m in need of a drive-thru, and Dagwood’s if they hadn’t gone all upscale in their fancy new building several years ago. But if I’ve got time and a need for a mile-high sandwich, I’ll head to Gandolfo’s. But I refuse to continue ordering from their fancy menu — I’m just gonna confuse somebody and order a sandwich and tell them what I want on it!

Well for a place that microwaves all their«hot» sandwiches they sure are slow as hell. I got the half french dip(had to ask for the au jus to be brought out), husband got the half Liberty something or other(had pastrami on it whatever it was, nothing memorable) everything was super greasy and is currently sitting like a sack of shit in our stomachs. Not everything is listed on their menu and even things that are don’t all have prices on them. MIGHT give them another shot in a few months. I will not get either of the above sandwiches again though…

I had the«I love New York» sandwich and coleslaw. Microwaved shaved pastrami and corned beef on greasy marbled rye. Coleslaw was just shredded red and white cabbage with no dressing or seasoning, it was the blandest thing I have ever eaten. Dr. Pepper from the fountain was the shining star of my $ 15 meal. The only thing New York about this place is how rude the girl was when she was shouting my name through the restaurant when my sandwich was ready.

They need more time to get their act together. I will try it again in a few weeks to see if maybe everything was horrible due to just being new and unprepared. But my visit today was awful. I ordered a French dip with Au Jus. it’s listed as a hot sandwich and it was cccccccold. Parking lot is tiny, the inside isn’t finished, tables are wobbly and not cleaned off, and the staff seemed clueless and lethargic. Ha! As I’m typing this I just watched one drop a customer’s food and knock over a overstacked tower of bowls. This place needs more time. The menu sounds good.

Pastrami on Rye, deli style. That’s about all I have to say for now. Prices are pretty steep, so be ready for the sticker shock at the register. Next time gonna have a $ 5 hot dog! Not enough parking in the lot here.
