I usually hit the gym really late and when I don’t feel like cooking, I hit up the diner for something big and something that fits the weekly budget. I’ve been to plenty of diners around NJ with my gf and this is probably one of the best. They’re wraps especially the chicken bacon cheddar BBQ wrap… Toooooo LIT they put hella chicken!(mad protein) and hella fries. I can have it everyday, seriously! Service is on point as well.

Food was great and our waiter was as well, but I’m taking off two stars for poor service from our host. The Assistant Manager, Spiro(saw his name tag) sat us. Upon being seated, there were crumbs all over my mom’s seat from the previous patrons. Not a big deal, I’m sure it happens all the time. But after my mom had informed the Assistant Manager of this, he then proceeded to hand her napkins instead of cleaning one of his booths himself. We’re not high maintenance people at all and I don’t think it’s out of the question to have employees(particularly managers) possess better customer service than what we experienced tonight. Overall, the food was great but the service to start our dining experience left a bad taste in our mouths.

Do not eat here food is awful had crab cake benedict and it taste horrible. So there way of fixing it is make another choice ordered chicken Caesar salad to go. They added dressing to a to go salad so now I won’t be eating that. Management has an attitude will not be back and I come from a large family will be telling them do not eat here.

Got the disco fries. They were pretty good. My only complaint was that they came with our meal instead of as an appetizer. Should have made that explicit to our server. Got the Louisiana Panini which was good. The overall experience was pleasant and we will probably return before the end of our stay.

Small parking lot. Cute diner — has a nice layout so you don’t feel like you are sitting on top of each other. There were stairs for upstairs seating with what looked like a skylight too. Large selection on the menu. They also make pizza and it looked and smelled pretty good when I saw them passing by. My chef salad was large my friend’s chicken and mozzarella sandwich was very tasty and a good size. The prices were pretty good too. All in all I would definitely go back.

Maybe 3.6…not a solid 4 Second time I been to this place. I like it enough. Today the food and service was SPECTACULAR! I swear from top to bottom only took abt 15 mins(seating to eating), waitress was a lil curt but no bother bc atleast she was fast so… Food was delish, had salad today, menu is so extensive it’s so hard to decide and good daily specials include soup entrée and dessert(not cake or pies) but the rice pudding was pretty tasty, huge portions, decent prices… Place is worth returning to, their dessert and gelato display look so inviting so I will definitely oblige next time

Recently visited State Street Diner for lunch. Service was fast and our waitress was friendly. My husband and I had two of their specialty sandwiches for lunch with fries and onion rings and the food came out fresh and was good. Big improvement from the last time.

I come here for the burgers it is the best I have ever tasted. You have to get it deluxe so that you can get the cheese lettuce tomatoes fries and the best pickle ever. I’m big on burgers so I can tell you this spot is the best. I have not tried breakfast yet. Their wraps are really good too. Chicken quesadillas are good too.

Big bustling Jersey diner. Huge menu and it’s nice that you can even get pizza. A-OK seems about right. Food was OK, not outstanding. Service was solid, but not exceptional. Points off though for inadequate parking.

Honestly not my favorite diner to go. It’s in the area so my family goes time to time but I am really not a fan of the food. The portions are really big and in this case it’s often quantity over quality. It’s OK for a quick visit but I wouldn’t go for anything special.

Waited about 2 hours for our food. The guy that seems to be the manager was just as rude as they come. He tried to make up for it in the end but it was too late. First impression is everything. The cashier yelled«did they pay their check?!?», as if we were going to walk out without paying. Food was not even enjoyable after it took so long to come out! The only good thing about the night was that our waiter was cool! Otherwise, not somewhere we will go again.

I like this diner for some things and not for others. It’s right near work, so we go quite a bit. On this occasion I ordered the Cuban panini and it was good, and they certainly give you a lot of food. One thing I found strange: my dining companion for that day was a vegetarian and when we were offered the soups with our lunches, not a single soup was vegetarian. Most of the soups were done with chicken stock and the cream of potato had bacon in it. It didn’t leave any options for her. Service is hit or miss depending on the day and where you sit. I’ve had some truly great servers and some shirkers. One thing: it’s very loud in there. You often can’t hear your friends while trying to converse.

I came here for Brunch. The menu is one word: Overwhelming. For a person like me, who is super indecisive about choosing what I want to eat, it was crazy for me to choose. this isn’t a bad thing! We got parking right in the parking lot, which from what I understand is rare. We walked in and were seated super fast. This place has like a diner look. Our waiter was very attentive. I ordered a Waffle with strawberries, blueberries, whipped cream, hash browns, and turkey sausage. Firstly, the turkey sausages are more like kielbasa. They are farrr from your average breakfast sausages. No complaints tho, because I liked them! Our waiter expressed a great amount of gratitude when he received his tip. He came over, and gave my date a hand shake, and said thank you very sternly. Upon us walking out the door, he came back and hugged my date, and said thank you again.

This is my new favorite diner in the Essex County. My friend and I stumbled upon it a while ago and it’s been our regular spot for breakfast since. Every time it never fails to deliver. They do a great breakfast here — whether you want eggs and home fries, French toast, Belgian waffles, or one of their omelets(my boyfriend is a fan of the garden one). Also, they make a pretty good pizza! It’s good for two/three people. They make pizzas on order until 9pm I believe. There’s also the sauté menu, which is pretty good, but the quality can depend on what night you are there. For the most part, the lunch and dinner options are good. My boyfriend likes the eggplant parm sandwich. It’s a big diner. To the right, there is the section with the diner counter and a few window-side booths. Here, they have televisions. To the left is the larger dining area, which has a combination of booths and tables. It’s spacious and not cramped. If you don’t want to dine in, I know that many people order to-go or by phone for pick-up. I’m a fan of State-Street Grill and hope keeps doing a good job.

Update… ive been here quite a few times now and have noticed that the most unpleasant part of this place is the cashiers… If I wanted attitude I would’ve stayed home. This is comfort food. From the time you Any place where you can have breakfast for dinner, greek or italian, salad or steak and oh the desserts… Top that of with pleasant waiters. that is happy food. After an all in all pleasant experience try paying for your meal with a tasteless bunch at the cashier if you can make your way to the collected crowd. Food* atmosphere * price*

This is not my first time dining here but it is the first time Ive felt compelled to write a review. Let’s start off with the positive. Cheyenne, my server was AMAZING! She was so pleasant & attentive. She answered all the many questions I had about the items on the menu.(FYI this was my first time getting something other than pancakes or French toast… those things are AWESOME btw.) The lunch special menu had quite a few options & it came with complementary soup & desert. Ok so I step out on a limb & orders the Arroz con Pollo. Once it came out I KNEW I wasn’t going to enjoy it(I failed to snap a picture but it looked gross). I could tell the rice was over cooked & once I tasted, my assumptions were right. It only took a few nibbles to conclude that it was inedible. It was bland & textually unappealing. The manager is called over & I expressed my complaints & concerns. She goes on to tell me that the arroz con pollo is one of there popular dishes & that there was nothing she could do for me. I mentioned to her the lack of enthusiasm I had for the dish & she says, «sorry, I’m not removing it from the bill.» I ended up ordered something else; the chipotle quesadillas. They were pretty good. Could have been way better but it is a diner. This was a first for me… never had this happened before. I’ve sent back meals before & wasn’t charged; I barely touched the plate. The manager didn’t even check back with me to see if the other meal I selected was ok. Idk if I’ll be back soon but when I do return I’ll stick to my usual — pancakes or french toast.

Although the name may be deceiving, it’s basically a diner, although it is an upper scale diner!(Which is probably why they excluded the word«diner» from their name!) No, you don’t need to wear proper attire, nor a reservation, but you will get better quality food, and service than most diners…, err grills! One thing to mention, their cappuccinos are quite good. I seek places where I can order something to eat and know I will enjoy it without worrying whether it’s gonna be good or I’m gonna like it or not! There’s nothing worse than ordering something that’s just horribly distasteful!(And paying for it!!!)

My husband and I ordered the free range chicken dinner and the gyro platter to go. They forgot the applesauce for the chicken, the salad that comes with it, and the tzasiki sauce for his platter. When I called to let them know, I was hung up on midsentence! I literally was calling so they could have it ready for when he got there and they just hung up on me! In addition, their idea of italian vegetables was corn, carrots, zucchini, yellow squash… that is either out of the can or unbelievably over cooked with no seasoning, my guess is the former. I used to love this place but I think I’m going to have to boycott just from being hung up on. I could have overlooked this as just one bad experience but then to add insult to injury! You’d be better off eating ramen noodles at home!

State Street Grill is a cool modern looking diner with great service — the staff is really friendly. Although the food didn’t stand out for me, you won’t regret coming here, I think it’s a nice diner to go to in the area. Food: I’ve been to State Street Grill for both breakfast and dinner but I always ended up ordering an omelette for both haha so unfortunately I can’t give an overall review since I haven’t tried other things on the menu. The last time I went I ordered the Garden Omelette(it was good) with a side of home fries and wheat toast. Overall I think the best part were the home fries.
