This was the cozy atmosphere I was looking for on a very cold day. What I love about this place is all the pictures of the customers dogs on the walls. I ordered the half slab of bbq ribs and the sauce was tangy and amazing. Also, we tried the hamburger, which was very tasty. I didn’t like the fries because they were mushy, but the loaded baked potato was yummy. We went on a Sunday so we got free cookies after we date. It came straight from the oven and melted in my mouth, I was about to order another one. The only negative thing was the wait for our food, but they were busy. I loved that the manager came to our table and asked how everything was, and he was helping his staff!

I would love to give this establishment 5 stars but that will never happen! After 28 years of living in the area I swear I will never waste my time trying to eat at the Moose again. We deserve better food in our area! This place survives on location alone. Sorry but I’ve given up. Improve the menu, please.

I got the baked macaroni and cheese with breadcrumbs. VERYGOOD! The food came out fast at lunch time and the meal was very cheesy and flavorful. The prices seem a little steep for this place, which is why I got the $ 10ish mac and cheese.

Actually very good and reasonably priced. Salad rolls and appetizer makes a full meal.

The atmosphere was a retro 70s cabiny feel. For drinks, I ordered a mojito. It tasted like alcoholic mouthwash; so bad I had to order a different drink. The Bloody Mary that came was only passably better. The appetizers, Nachos and artichoke dip were good, but I have found just as good in a supermarket. For the meal I had a chicken burger. I could go into a detailed description but the most succinct is … meh.

Haven’t been here in over a year. Lunch here yesterday was quite good. Nice atmosphere and food too! Best Mac ‘n Cheese around!

This is a solid place for a beer and a burger or some ribs. They have daily specials for food, and the food is actually pretty darn good. I’ve been here twice and been satisfied both times. Good service from the bartender each time.

I got the chicken burger with goat cheese, arugula, and spicy cherry jam with sweet potato fries. The chicken tasted like it was cooked earlier and microwaved when I got there. There wasn’t any texture or much flavor until I put the jam on it which was a good concept but didn’t really work in my eyes. I was really excited for the sweet potato fries but they were coated in brown sugar which made them overly sweet. The place wasn’t very busy but our waitress seemed to disappear for abnormal amounts of time. The best part was the warm cookies she brought us for dessert. The drink menu also looked pretty good. All in all, it was edible but not a place I would recommend or go out of my way to visit.

Why does it take a poor experience to generate a first review? The walleye special was overcooked with a few potato chips thrown on top. Then our waitress Monica B. grabbed my credit card receipt before we even got up to leave the table. Did we look like we’d stiff her on the tip or something? Our first visit will be our last.

Try the buffalo burger and the chili. Or the whitefish, perch or anything they serve. I’ve never had a bad meal here and have tried a variety off menu options. Moose has solidly excellent food, friendly and professional service and a nice deck for outdoor eating in warmer weather. It is a little dark inside with an up north log cabin type of feel.

First of all, I have never had a bad meal at The Moose. This is our go-to place with the kids, friends, you name it and everyone always leaves happy, and usually with leftovers. Caesar salad with grilled salmon — I tend to order this quite often and with good reason; it’s delicious. A very generous portion of fresh romaine lettuce is topped with grated parmesan, croutons and grilled salmon. The fish is crisp and tender and so good that dressing isn’t mandatory. The salad also comes with a biscuit which is quite tasty, but I usually bring it home. Mushroom soup — this is actually the first time I’ve ordered the mushroom soup and HOLYCOW was it good! Smooth, creamy and so good. Buffalo burger — my husband ordered the burger but I can attest to its greatness. When I was pregnant, I ate at one at LEAST once a week with well-done fries and a side of mayo. This may be why I gained 65 pounds, but I digress… The kids ordered nachos and grilled cheese from the kids menu. They seemed happy with their food. Free cookies on Sunday(and sometimes other days if your server is really impressed with your kids’ behavior). Love The Moose Preserve!

I have been to the Moose Preserve often over the past couple of years. Sad to say it seems to recently have hit a rough patch and has disappointed me. The atmosphere is fun, love the log cabin and wilderness theme! Not so great, what happened to the attentive service? Service used to be outstanding. Last time, a gal at the bar told me how patient I was. I said, yep I must be invisible. I waited for more than 10 minutes for a drink, while all the staff was standing off to the side talking to each other. Then one explained he had to tell something exciting to another about something he got his wife, really?! What happened to customers come first? No, I didn’t get the drink on the house. Food also used to be fantastic for what it was and consistently good. The last two times, my food has come out cold, not even warm. Hot in a few areas and cold in others. Same trip, the woman never asked me how my food was and when I wanted that second glass of wine and a glass of water, it took another 10 plus minutes. Ok, one of my used to be regular spots, you are going on a hiatus for a while. You need to get the staff off of social hour and attend to matters, like the customers and whatever is going on or not, in the kitchen. Then maybe I will return. Perhaps you might also want to update your menu a bit. It’s too bad, because it was a great place for a long time.

But the next day I didn’t feel so good.

Went to this place for«happy hour», however they don’t really have happy hour deals except for $ 2 PBRs and I’m not a beer drinker. BUT, I will say this place has really good drinks and food. I had a Prosecco, but tried some of my friends’ drinks, like the Sangria and the Lime Basil Manhattan, very good drinks. For food, they have a wide selection as well. I tried the spinach artichoke dip which is very cheesy and fresh, comes with bread and tortilla chips. My husband ordered the mac and cheese which came in this huge and I mean HUGE skillet. It was delicious as well. I would definitely come back here for dinner and drinks.

Jessica, Jessica, Jessica! You win best server of the year award. I’ve ignored this place since they removed the pulled chicken sandwich from the menu. They do offer brunch options on the weekends, so I sucked it up and we popped in around noon. The place is empty around this time but it’s Sunday so all is forgiven. We decided to split a French Toast and Huevos Rancheros based on Jessica’s recommendation. Jessica split the food up for us before bringing it to the table. Just a nice gesture in any book. The food was really good but just really good. Few pain points, the syrup with the French Toast was cold and the overall size of the Huevos Rancheros was on the smaller side, but I“m fat and could stand to eat less so no big deal. Jessica came by with coffee refills several times and even refilled our orange juice. We read that they have free dog treats but were out. Maybe next time.

Amazing place to eat and be! I got the venison chilli And side order of sweet potstoe fries which were absolutely delicious. They have the best service there and everyone is always so friendly. My Husband got the club sandwich and really loved it, it was just perfect! The best way to end your meal there is Always with warm chocolate chip cookies. So delicious and worth every calorie!

First time in the door of the Moose Preserve today. I’ve been past this busy well-heeled corner(Woodward & Square Lake) a million times but never noticed this restaurant until a friend suggested we do the«Moose» on the way back from a business meeting in the northern burbs. Very impressed! What a cool and casual place with a knotty pine«up north feel» just steps off this very busy section of Woodward. I tried the fish tacos that were made with a base of Atlantic cod with all the fixins including their exclusive sauce on a soft tortilla. Loved them! Very cool retreat in the pines. Will definitely be back to sample a few other offerings in the future. .

Great drinks, solid food, and a friendly waitstaff. Best ways to get a good review from me. I’ve been here a few times over the years, most recently for my «farewell» party from my last job. They did a great job having a whole section set aside for everyone, and making sure that everyone was well taken care of thanks to a few dedicated servers. I’ve eaten here several times, and never had a bad item. The chocolate chip cookies are definitely something to keep in mind. A plate full of those walking by tables is something that turns heads with the smell, and knowing that they’re yours is just all kinds of awesome.

I like this place. I’m a Michigan man and I love the log cabin, up northy feel. I hadn’t been here in several years but the last time I was here, I ordered the Emu London Broil. They have since ditched the more exotics meets but still have some unique offerings in the game department. Now if you have been to Camp Ticonderoga, Deadwood or Beaver Creek, the menu is exactly the same. If this is going to be your only visit I recommend the Road Kill Grill where you get quail, venison and wild boar. The fried chicken dinner is also delicious and enormous. Two can easily split most entrees. You will be hard pressed to find this any where else. The Buffaloaf is also quite good and with a such a generous portion you are guaranteed to get at least two meals out of a single order. Fish and chips also seemed to be quite popular as were the burgers and wings. TRYTHEBLOODYMOOSE! One of the area’s best. You’ll love the moose sausage in the garnish. Food quality was unanimous as we all agreed we had a pleasant meal. We’ve eaten here twice in the last month and service both times has been stellar. Thank you for making my mother’s birthday an enjoyable one.
