I have lived in DC metro, Jacksonville, Fl metro and have had a prolonged stay in Atlanta, GA. By far, my favorite International Grocery Store was the Dekalb international farmer’s market. However, in Southwestern Virginia, near the VA Tech campus, there is this particular International Grocery Store! This is about the size of a medium sized grocery store. Not a Super Walmart, but not as small as a convenience store, either. This store spans about 8 aisles. They have a great selection of Sake. From standard variety to higher end vintage, these guys have it. They also have a nice selection of Plum wine. There’s a nice wall of different beer: refrigerated and not. I’m no wine snob but there is a variety. If you have a sweet tooth, they have a confection menagerie from different countries such as Europe, Asia and Latin America. There are a variety of fruits and vegetables. There’s even locally grown vegetables. If you’re a meat eater, they have a lot of frozen and locally bred varieties. There is a good selection of frozen seafood. For our Islamic friends they have an amazing Halal selection. Frozen food selection is Epic! From China, Vietnam, Korea, Philippines, Japan, Latin America and Others, just to name a few. A wide range of herbal and Chinese tea, in addition to coffee. There’s sodas from Russia, India, and other worldly venues. Even for the college student on a budget, is the mother of all Ramen Soup collections to shock and awe! There are so many different soups and other broths I was blown away. Spices from all over the world, as well as chillies and peppers to spice up your life. Amazing. There’s a few Chinese and Ayurvedic remedies but it’s just a few shelves full. Not exactly a pharmacy but you may find something here. Staff were nice. I never asked for assistance. If you live nearby, it’s worth a short trip.

HORRIBLECUSTOMERSERVICE! I was walking in around 8:12 and did not even step 2 feet into the door when a lady on the cash register yelled to me and my friend«WEARECLOSINGMAKEITFAST» I politely said no it’s okay we will just leave. I could not believe we were spoken to this way! I will not be returning!

Just moved from DC and I stopped in here around four times in two weeks. This is my favorite store to shop at so far. I didn’t have time to make preserved lemons and they had two different varieties of pickled lemons(same thing as preserved). They have an insane collection of beers if you like microbrews, a decent amount of sake. Locally sourced American and Asian Veggies, also local meats, eggs, milk. The awesomest bouillon. Rice noodles, dried beans including mung and lentils, herbs, spices, pickle, oils, candies, farro, quinoa, rice. Geez I could go on forever.(fish sauce Thai coffee. dishes! rice steamers, woks). I could spend hours in here. Well organized, clean, nice staff. The only thing I wished is besides the soap they carry, I would be interested in beauty products from Asia and beyond so I don’t have to order online and wait a month to receive my makeup and beauty cleansers. DHC oil, sponge makeup, glosses, cream blush etc. I am into the glow.

Oasis has any locally-sourced, organic, or randomly odd food/spice/kitchen item that I may need. The workers are always friendly and eager to help me find what I’m looking for without being overbearing. The prices here are a bit higher than what you’ll pay at a regular supermarket but that’s because you’re paying for actual quality. Their supply of international ingredients is unmatched in the Virginia Tech vicinity.
