I live in LA but visit Virginia often to see friends. Whenever I’m in town I HAVE to go to Greens. It’s my favorite place to eat. I know, middle eastern food and sushi in the same spot?! My two favorites. Genius. Can not wait for my next trip just so I could devour everything on the menu. Great atmosphere and accommodating staff. Excellent food with great service. What more could you ask for. Yummy :)

Very underwhelmed by the quality of sushi and quantity of fish in the rolls. The delivery is always pretty speedy but eating at the actual restaurant can be very slow service. 3 stars pretty much sums this place up. Good, but not great. I will say they have a very nice outdoor seating area to enjoy on a nice day!

I think their chief has changed recently. I ordered two eggplant vegi sandwiches in two consecutive weeks. The first one was great, the second one sucked! Eggplants were raw and u know how bad a raw eggplant is! I also ordered another vegi sandwich, it was bad as well. I don’t go there anymore. If u like sushi, go to Saki house to get a good sushi, not from a Mediterranean restaurant

The sushi here is very tasty. I especially like the greens vegetarian roll. Love the walnut and coconut topping on the roll. This place also has really good French fries. Very crisp. However I’m not a huge fan of their shawarma. I always find the chicken too rubbery and overcooked. I’ve heard from friends that the steak shawarma is really good though. They have deals on Mondays and Wednesdays, with free upgrades on the sushi. Recommend for the sushi, but not for other stuff.

I would give a solid 3 this time. I went on a Wednesday and got the futomaki(I think that’s what is called) upgrade for the special eel roll. The upgrade gets you 10 rolls instead of 8, and the waitress claimed that the rolls would also be bigger as well, but the rolls just had more rice rather than filling. Also in my roll, they gave the tiniest piece of eel.

Great food that they are quick to get out of the kitchen! I definitely recommend eating here, if you have a little time between classes! I haven’t tried the sushi yet, but it is definitely on my list of things to try from this restaurant.

My husband and I love eating here at least once a week. We love all their salads with salmon or chicken, the sushi and chicken shawarma platters. We have never had a bad meal and we have been there at least 20 times in the past 4 months! Every day of the week they have drink specials and ½ off bottles of wine, and ½ off sushi night. The place could use some decorating inside but has a lot of seating outside. The service is slower when they are busy, as most places are. For the price of their food & drinks, it’s worth it!

I’ve been here four times and have always been impressed with the food! Although the idea of a Grill and Sushi Bar seems a little out their, their twists on classic grill items and sushi will not disappoint. I highly recommend getting one of their specialty rolls, like the Golden Roll or their Rainbow Roll, and their platters are TODIE for. The flavor profile of Grilled Chicken Tikka in particular is out of this world. Although the service is okay it directly goes back to the extreme casualness of the restaurant itself with a «seat yourself» and«pay at the register» atmosphere. Either way, this place is a MUST if you’re in Blacksburg!

I have ate several times and each time I try something different. I had sushi, chicken sandwich and hummus. They were fresh and delicious. I never had sushi before that and now we eat there at least once a week. It is good to have such a restaurant in small town like Blacksburg.

Used to have some of the best chicken dishes. The qualify of food has dropped since they renovated. Hope it is a temporary blip

The sushi is the best around. Its my go to at Virginia Tech. They’re also expanding into the old Rita’s next door for more seating. The only reason its not 5 stars is the service can be pretty bad.

The most important thing: I love the food! On Mondays, the sushi deals are amazing. $ 10 for two rolls. Any other day of the week I’ll get the sirloin shawarma. It’s great food and comes with a little salad and rice too. I’ll always keep coming back for the food. BUT the service needs to be worked on. Every time I walk in some uninterested person behind the cash register hands we a menu and points vaguely at where I should sit. One time someone pointed me to a dirty, uncleared off table and made me wait there for 5 minutes until he came to clean it so we could finally sit down. Both of these times it was 5 pm on a Monday, not exactly the busiest time. Keep it up with the awesome, unique food. Step up your service.

This place is a train wreck. Walked in and the two employees behind the counter looked at us and then resumed their private conversation without so much as a «hello». We were then approached by a third person who was wearing street clothes. He handed us some sticky menus then mumbled something, pointed toward a table and walked off. We assumed this was our cue to sit down which we did. The young lady behind the counter came and took our drink order and I got up to wash my hands. The restrooms(the men’s room anyway) was disgusting. Sticky floors, filthy stool, overflowing trash cans, bare wires sticking out of the walls, the paper towel roll to dry your hands was sitting on top of the toilet. I felt a stronger urge to wash my hands after I left the washroom than when I went in. I took my seat back at the table and a third person approached us to take our order but I had just sat down. His response was«do you REALLY need more time» we said yes, he rolled his eyes and walked away. The menu was strange but covered typical bar fare plus the basic sushi rolls. The beer menu contained all the variety of your corner 7 – 11. The mumbler came by and we placed our order, a few sushi rolls. The sushi itself was ok I’ve no complaints but nothing particularly glowing to say about it either. We wanted to order another roll and get some refills on our drinks but it was impossible to get anyone’s attention. It wasn’t particularly busy but no one would acknowledge us. For 15 minutes we tried flagging down someone and were consistently ignored. We left hungry, and thoroughly confused. Average food paired with a dirty restaurant and non existent service led to this 1 star review. There are too many other options in town to waste your time and money here.

We were greeted at the front of the restaurant and handed menus and had to seat ourselves. I really didn’t care about that, but then the menus were sopping wet with soy sauce and who knows what else. After we sat down the server came over and I asked if he knew what things were gluten free and he basically wrote me off and didn’t want to help or even go and ask anyone who would know the answer. Ended up leaving unfortunately and had to go somewhere else. Probably will not to back this was the last strike.

Sushi was awful. I had to spit it out because the texture was so bad. The atmosphere in the restaurant was dirty and the menu is mostly bar food. I don’t know why they have sushi here.

The platters are a must! They come with rice that has some mixed vegetables, bread, a side salad, and a good serving of meat or chicken. The place has a relaxed atmosphere and is especially great when the outdoor seating is opened. The prices are also priced very well and the food comes with good portions. Definitely recommend the Turkish Skewers or Tikka Platter, Shawarmas, Philly Cheesesteak sandwich, and any of their salads. I don’t know too much about sushi, but I know that it is very popular.

I ordered take-out from Green’s tonight and had it delivered. My wife’s away and there was a coupon on GrubHub for extra sushi so why not? I figured my daughter and I would enjoy some shawarma and sushi. A natural combo! The chicken shawarma meal was great. If I order from Green’s again I’ll definitely try more of their grilled selections! Even the rice was pleasantly seasoned. My daughter went crazy for the well-seasoned and tender chicken. The sushi was a different story and I don’t see myself ordering it again. I had two rolls, both of which included cucumber. The thinly-sliced cucumber was from the rind of the cucumber, giving the sushi a really unsavory texture. The rice was chewy and without any flavor(as sushi rice should have a small amount of flavor to it from the rice vinegar). Overall, I was very displeased with both rolls. The peel of the cucumber being one of the main ingredients made them downright unpleasant. I’ll go back and I’ll rescore when I go back but for now I’m conflicted. The shawarma was tasty, the sushi was definitely not. Then again, everyone else seems to love the sushi so maybe next time I’ll order some nigiri instead of rolls.

I wasn’t terribly impressed with Greens. This place very much caters to the college crowd. Not that this is a bad thing but when I walked in, I was pointed to a dirty table and told to sit there. The server brought menu’s and I had to ask him to wipe the crumbs from the previous customer. I did like that they have sandwiches as well as Sushi on the menu. I ordered a grilled Tilapia Sandwich and a volcano roll. When we ordered the waiter asked if we wanted the sushi first and then the sandwich. Which we said yes but after waiting about 15 minutes both the sandwich and sushi were brought out together. The Tilapia Sandwich came on a 6inch sub bun and with 1 piece of Tilapia split across the bread. This made the sandwich seem very very skimpy. The condiments were thrown on the sandwich. I felt like I had to re arrange the sandwich to make it feel more appetizing. The sushi was very very cold like it had been pre-made and sitting in the refrigerator. I could have gotten better sushi from my local Wegman’s Grocery Store. I wasn’t very fulfilled and wouldn’t go back there again.

Green’s is an easy place to miss as you’re walking along College Ave. or should I say ‘Hipster Ave.’ Located adjacent to Ritas, it’s charmingly tucked into the corner and seats a small number of people. The quality of ingredients used at Greens is extremely fresh and they have a menu very much unlike anything else in Blacksburg. While they have a menu featuring mediterranean cuisine, they also have sushi. Personally, I think the sushi at Greens in the best in Blacksburg — although this isn’t saying much considering the only competition is Sake House. The sushi rice has a good consistency but the raw fish lacks slightly in flavor. If you are going to order sushi, make sure to order it on Mondays or Wednesdays so that you can get the free futomaki upgrade(go from a normal roll to a large roll). The grill side of the menu features a selection of sandwiches and platters. For $ 6 – 7, the sandwiches are a fantastic deal. Instead of gorging on a burrito at the Chipotle across the street, you can order a Chicken Shwarma — warm pita filled with grilled chicken, sliced onions, lettuce, tomato all drizzled in olive oil and a tangy tahini sauce. Each sandwich also comes with a side salad, make sure you ask for the house dressing! It’s a combination of olive oil, lemon, crushed walnuts and some balsamic. Other great sandwich options include but are not limited to: Veggie Burger — not your typical veggie pattie but instead fresh vegetables held together in a flour and tempura mixture Tilapia Sandwich — breaded tilapia in a soft roll Overall, Greens is a solid restaurant with meals that are clearly made with passion and care. Definitely support this local business!

Middle Eastern Food and Sushi… INTHESAMERESTAURANT? I wasn’t sure if this a was crazy or a stroke of genius. I was doubtful that two very different cuisines could be successfully executed in the same place, but after dining here I concluded that it was, in fact, a stroke of genius. My family ordered various Middle Eastern influenced sandwiches along with a few sushi rolls. I ordered the Chicken Shwarma platter and was quite impressed. The chicken was nicely cooked and seasoned well sitting on a warm, soft pita with fresh greens and tomatoes drizzled with house-made Tahini sauce. The platter comes with a choice of any of the salads and a side of mixed-vegetable rice. I chose the Cobb salad which was deliciously fresh and enjoyed it a lot(even though it was missing the hard-boiled egg). The rice was good, but nothing special. The sushi rolls we ordered were surprisingly good. I’m really glad my sister took brought us here– unique place, great food, very reasonably priced, and great service.
