We really enjoyed The Skinny Pig pizza… so good and different. The inside was kind of dark(not in a good way) and seemed kind of messy. Next time we will sit out on the patio for better atmosphere. Friendly servers, but, very slow service. Hard to say if it was just that night or a normal occurrence.

Still in search of a great NC pizza! Nice little place with good service. Started off with the fresh made hummus with flat bread. It is served on a bed of field greens and was delicious. Now on to the pizza. I don’t know what it is about North Carolina, but folks just can’t make a great pizza. We ordered a thick crust(I have given up on finding an edible thin crust in the blue ridge!) pepperoni and prosciutto. It hit on 2 of the three sides of the pizza triad, toppings and crust. The crust had a nice crispness and flavor and the toppings were flavorful and fresh. The big miss was the sauce, basically straight from the Prego jar, no flavor. Not the worst pizza I had out here, and my search continues for the best.

Five stars for the food, 2.5 stars for the service. They must have been severely understaffed on a beautiful Sunday afternoon with a waiting list for the patio but immediate seating inside, because once we got our food we did not see our server again until we had scraped our plates and were twiddling our thumbs waiting for the check. But at least she was attentive thru placing our order, even if someone completely different delivered the food. And the pizzas were amazing. I went with a pesto pizza that was simply delicious. It supposedly came with pine nuts although they must have been chopped pretty finely into the pesto; I expected more crunch. But the flavor was on point. Hubs won the day. His go-to is chicken parmesan, but I talked him into going with a specialty pizza that sounded like him. The«skinny pig» came with bacon, carmelized onions, arugula, massive flakes of Asiago cheese, and drizzled with a balsamic reduction. It was to die for. Next time we’re getting a big skinny pig, splitting it, and calling it a day. A small pizza is 10″ diameter, basically an oversized personal pizza. But you know what they say, any pizza is a personal pizza if you work hard and believe in yourself.

The pizza, Caesar salad, and salted caramel cheesecake were all really good and the service was friendly. Can’t ask for much more than that.

Really enjoyed my pizza here. As simple as pizza is to make, you wouldn’t think so many places have it wrong. However, this place has it ALLRIGHT. I cannot wait to eat this place again.

Super sweet staff with a cozy home time feeling! We had a Peperoni and Sausage Pizza, which was so good! We also had a steak and cheese sub, which was good, not the best but good.

While visiting my mother this month, we went to My Father’s Pizza on Cherry Street. They have a wide variety of pizza and other Italian foods. It is set in the heart of Cherry Street. I was born and raised in Black Mountain and moved away. My Father’s will typically be one of the pizza stops when we go back for a visit. The Cherry Street vibe is unique for this historical town. Typically busy. If you do not want to eat in you can call for a take-out order. Be prepared to send someone in to pick up and circle the block. Cherry Street parking may be minimal. On this visit we ate in, we had the spinach salad that had tomato, cucumber, fresh mushrooms, diced egg & onion, & your choice of sunflower seeds or bacon. Husband had the side Caesar Salad which was your typical Romaine lettuce topped w/asiago, croutons, & Caesar dressing. HIGHLY recommend the Pesto pizza. It has their unique pesto(green) sauce is prepared w/fresh basil, pine nuts, parmesan, fresh garlic, & olive oil. Topped w/grated mozzarella. They have a wide selection of beers, which include much local and seasonal option beers. Ask them for their recommendations. Service could have been better but we were not rushed this day, so we were not in a «pinch» for time. NOTE: There are other pizza places in Valley that have FRESH pizza too. Check Trip Advisor for other Great places.

This is a favorite for many of our groups that head to Montreat for the conferences. I haven’t enjoyed much beyond the pizzas, but I love the atmosphere, service, and people.

We only come to this area once or twice a year, but my kids talk about it year round. We go for the pizza, but there are other Italian favorites on the menu. My choice? It is always the — My Father’s Supreme, which includes both meat and veggies in abundance. However, we also like the Margherita Pizza, while some in our party opt for the traditional Italian dishes, we all agree on the Greek Salad that we split. Beware, sometimes there can be a long line and the whole waiting in line upstairs is awkward, but the rewards are good food.

Kept hearing about this place. Everyone was right, it really is great. Great service, great food. Brushetta is a great start, good flavor, but nothing too strong. We got a white pizza that our son and daughter’s friend devoured. Also got My father’s Supreme, and it was exactly what I hoped for. Meats and veggies are just better than other places, sauce tastes great, crust was Excellent! Only detraction was that the room was loud, sounds reflect of all the hard surfaces, and our tables rocked all through our meal. Will DEFINITELY be going back.

Although crowded, which makes you think it must be good, it wasn’t. No hostess greeting, note pad with names on a it, so we wrote our name on it. Fifty-five minutes later we were seated. I see this often in restaurants, but this might be the worst I have every witnessed; and that’s the wiping off the dirty tables or busing I guess. Each and every time the girl wiped everything off into the floor, not once sweeping afterwards. Why aren’t people taught to clean the table off by taking it into a plate!

When a local tipped us off that there was a decent gluten-free pizza here, we were thrilled. We headed over and realized that apparently lots of people were thrilled as I am confident I counted more people in this restaurant than I saw on the streets and shops all day… which equals«to go order». The lady at the cash register happily took our order and told use that due to the number of people there, it would be 45 mins. Not ideal, I was hungry, but pizza I can eat is a treat, so back to the B&B we went for a glass of wine and returned 40 minutes later. Even after a walk back to the B&B with the pizza, it was still good. That says a lot since gf crusts get soggy quickly. Piled with toppings, full of flavor, I greatly enjoyed this pizza and would happily stop in again if in the area.

If I am going to spend my money on pizza then this is the best place around in my opinion. However, when I go there I usually get Lasagna.(THEIRSALADSAREGREATALSO) They have the absolute BESTLASAGNA around. Whether you choose Meat Sauce OR Spinach, you cannot go wrong. It’s a friendly, fun place to eat in the heart of one of the best mountain towns. The service has always been GREAT. Don’t JUDGE by previous reviewer about waitress chastising customer nephew. TRUTH be told, he was probably acting out and disturbing other paying customers.

Excellent pizza and pasta dishes, with indoor and outdoor dining. Service is quite good as well, and there is an excellent selection of beers and wines. This place is much more than a pizza parlor — theItalian food is as good as we have had anywhere.

So service was not that great but nor was is really bad. The food was our main issue. We ordered artichoke salad that had 3 small artichokes and couple pieces of lettuce. Tasted like Italian dressing and it was drowning the veggies. Was a soggy mess. Would not recommend. Second was the sautéed mushrooms this was one of the worst things we have ever had. The taste was vinegar-y and with the mix of the cheese tasted like bile, literally! This dish was either prepared wrong for us or should be completely rethought. Absolutely disgusting! Manzo pizza was the main dish. This is the only thing keeping them from one star was not horrible. But was fair. There is much better pizza in black mountain. I would not recommend, nor will I return and try again yes it was that BAD!

Been here many times and we love the pizza although has unique crust They are usually busy so expect a wait. They do their best to accommodate large groups Last time we ate they were packed and messed up our order but went overboard to make it right. Great service

We were here for lunch. We sat outside because it was just the degree before it was not comfortable. The service was good and the food was ok. There were some very interesting conversations and people sitting around us. Can’t plan for that though. Given the choice I would go somewhere else.

This place was highly recommended by a couple locals so after seeing a 4 star average, we decided to check them out. Right off the bat, the whole entrance/greeting/hostess stand was off-putting. You come in at the top level and it is muggy, crowded and chaotic. There was no one there to greet us but we saw some people signing a notebook so we assumed we were supposed to just add our names to that list… which we did. We went downstairs and confirmed we did the right thing and the waitresses seemed bothered by our questions and seemed to prefer that we wait upstairs in the sauna. No thanks. We ended up being seated quickly outside which was nice. The service was slow from the beginning and pretty much remained that way throughout. We were definitely not impressed with the waitstaff. We ordered three small pizzas and we each ordered a small greek salad. The salad was fresh and crispy. Very good. Pizza 1 – we tried the all white/garlic pizza. I liked this one. Others at my table were less impressed because they felt it was a little bland but I enjoyed it. Pizza 2 – Buffalo Chicken. There were very few pieces of chicken on this and the sauce and cheese seemed to weigh the pieces down – creating a greasy heavy feel. Pizza 3 – I can’t remember the name but something like the big pig. It had bacon, arugula, shredded parmesan and some type of salad dressing base. I will give it an A for effort and and A for uniqueness, a B for flavor and execution. This is going to sound dumb but the pizzas seemed more like cheesy garlic bread. That is the texture of the crust. It may just not be my favorite style of crust/pizza but it reminded me of dominos. We ate quite a lot so I can’t say we didn’t enjoy ourselves. I am sure their pasta dishes are decent as well. As my star rating indicates… it was ok. I would venture to say pretty good but just not my personal favorite.

I’ve had margarita pizza at multiple places from mellow mushroom to a few ‘local’ pizza joints across the southeast US and this was definitely the least impressive. Bland taste overall, the crust wasn’t anything special… Fairly disappointed. Another in my party got the skinny pig and it seemed much better, but I feel that much of the flavor came from the sauce and bacon on that pizza. Server was nice. Overall this place wasn’t exceptional and I wouldn’t eat here again.
