Candlewood Suites Birmingham – Hoover

Lovely little spot on a hill in suburban Birmingham. The room was very comfortable and furnished very well.
We loved the clean lines of the «Scandinavian-​esque» décor. Although our stay was enroute to visit friends during the holidays, I would highly recommend for business travel as there is plenty of work space and a nicely appointed kitchen.

Ok, were do I start. I called to make a reservation and the individual on the phone said don’t worry about it just tell me your name when you arrive. When I got to the candlewood she asked if I had a reservation I explained no that you told me to just give you my name. She said ya I told to one guy and said just come on up. I gave her my name and explained it will be direct bill. She said no one made me aware and I said yes I called earlier. I explained I have stayed here before with my company so you Will see me In the computer system. She stated yes, a lot of people stay here let me call my manager. Great so I thought, then the phone rang and she told me to wait. After talking about 5 minutes on the phone it rang again. She had me wait more. After the calls she finally called her manager and explained the company I was with and the direction she received was to set me up with a room and bill it to his company. I thought great I would finally get checked in and relax for the evening. No she continued to talk to her boss on the phone about a wedding party and who paid who didn’t. After another 10 minutes she finally got off the phone for a third time and explained that we can set you up with a room. At this point I was ready to leave and stay 25 miles down the road at another hotel that we do business with. She apologized and finally set me up with a room. I was so ready to leave but now I finally have a room. When I got to my room over 30 minutes later I opened the door and it looked like a rockstar party took place. Trash everywhere. So now I have to drag my bags back down three levels to ask for a different room. The rep at the front (same one) went on to say“no that room Was cleaned today because it was signed off on by the housekeeping staff”. I had to explain no ma’am it is trashed. She finally believed my and felt so bad that she got me a room on the first floor. WOW she was little no help on making my stay convenient and comfortable.

I come to Birmingham for work, at least once a month for a few days. I’ve stayed here every time I’m in town. Great hotel, great location, reasonable price, clean, big studio rooms and not to forget; the staff are very friendly and they make you feel at home.

My wife and I stayed here while visiting family in birmingham. The room itself was ok, but there were several issues that made our stay here not as good as it could have been.
When we first arrived, the room we were in smelled like smoke even though it’s a non smoking hotel. Fortunately they were accommodating and switched us to an adjacent room.
Even though our new room didn’t smell like smoke, my wife was congested and started sneezing every time we entered the room. There was definitely a thick coating of dust on top of the curtains, so it seems that the room really needs a deep cleaning.
This is a minor thing… the lightswitch in the bedroom operates all the lights, including the bedside lamps. This means that while reading in bed at night, we had to get up out of bed to turn the lights off. We actually used a spatula to reach the switch so we didn’t have to get up. Not the bigger deal, but kind of a pain.
The climate control system is a little weird because there is a main unit in the living area, with just a fan to get that air into the bedroom. It was pretty cool weather while we were here, but I’d imagine that in the summer the a/​c wouldn’t be too effective in reaching to the bedroom.
There was a «leather» recliner in our room that seemed pretty new, but every time I sat in it, some of the material ripped because of how thin it is (and I am not a big guy).
On the plus side, the exercise room is pretty nice. Also the room has pretty much everything you need for an extended stay, like pots, silverware and plates, cleaning supplies, etc. I do wish they cleaned the room more than once a week, but this wasn’t a big deal.
Overall, I’d give a qualified recommendation, just be aware that the rooms may not be as spotless and clean and well constructed as you want.

WOW! What a great place for it’s value. Very nice place, helpful staff, and the room was NICE, clean, and cool. We did have a mix up with
regarding the description of the room I purchased. Fortunately Candlewood Suites didn’t think twice about providing me with a free upgrade from an already nice room to an even better one! I would stay here again and again!

I was very happy with my stay here. I chose it because it is pet friendly. The staff is very nice and friendly. Rooms are clean and kitchens are very well equipped. Wireless network and free washers and dryers! And the price is a great value. Nice workout room and snack choices. And I felt like the hotel is safe and secure. It is close to restaurants and shopping but very secluded and quiet.

, this place is new, so there aren’t any reviews, but it’s cheapest, so I decided to give it a try and I’m very surprised how great it is! The room is clean, the outside areas are quiet, it is near all kind of places, food, shopping, there is a Wal-​mart right across from the street. I had the best night of sleep on the trip. I would highly recommended.
