Solid space– plenty of outdoor seating; definitely a miniature music festival feel. Like everyone has said, you can bring pets. Personally, I don’t get why people want to pet animals while eating and enjoying beer, but you can if that’s your thing. Smaller space within. A bar and a counter along the wall is about it. Big groups are relegated to the outside area, so be aware. The Vanillaphant is a very drinkable Porter during the summer or winter, and the Tripel is excellent– sweet but not overly so.

Always a great place for a afternoon hangout to catch up with friends. Always bring food and the fam to this place and when anyone visits Birmingham, you know that Avondale is in the future. Great vibe and great people.

The atmosphere here is always very cool. A lot of young people listening to music, sitting in the grass, standing around talking outside and drinking local beer. You can also go inside and sit at a table and watch sports on television. They will sometimes have food trucks inside the brewery. But there are also several good restaurants close by that you can bring food into the brewery.

Avondale Brewing not only has great beer but is an awesome live music venue. The atmosphere is very chill. The guys that work there are very professional and well-versed in dealing with large crowds.

Despite not being much of a beer drinker, I really am fond of hanging out at Avondale with my beer drinking pals. There’s just an easy relaxed vibe that runs through the whole place. The backyard is great too. And if you get a thrill out of dogwatching, there are plenty of canines roaming around, a very dog-friendly brewery. As for the actual beer, it’s some of Birmingham’s best, or so I’ve been told. The bartenders could be a hair more attentive but oh well. No food is served, but there’s often a food truck in the yard, and you’ve got a plethora of appealing options in the neighborhood(I’m a fan of Saw’s Soul Kitchen and Post Office Pies). Street parking usually isn’t too hard to find. You can host a private event upstairs(which the website tells me was once a clandestine bordello!), and there are often concerts outside. There are two unisex bathrooms inside and some outside too. Trunks up!

Easily one of the most inviting breweries in Birmingham. It has all of the qualities to make it successful: Tasty beer Dog friendly space Outdoor(best feature) and indoor space Loyal and vibrating crowd On any given sunny Saturday you will find a packed out Avondale Brewery. If you are still able to stand come nightfall, they regularly have popular bands playing OR *if you’re lucky* karaōke set up to let your voice of an angel self sing with a live band in the background to jam out with you!

Family/pet friendly brewery with tons of entertainment options. They regularly have bands on stage in the fenced in back yard. Fenced area also had plenty of tables, open grass area, cornhole, volleyball and other games. There is an inside and outdoor bar but you will find most people outside on a nice day. As most breweries, there is an event/fundraiser almost every weekend during the spring and summer. Sometimes you will have to pay cover to that organization or just stay inside. They also have an upstairs room that can rented for events. I’m actually not a beer drinker but my husband and friends all like their beer.

It was so much fun! But it was also very crowded. Where the food trucks were, the lines were super long and everywhere. You couldn’t really tell where to start. But other than that… The vibes were great! People out with their family, friends, kids, and their dogs. And the Music was pretty cool too! I will definitely be going again!

What a fun place to just hang out and people watch. The gone-star is simply because I don’t care for most of their beer… maybe that’s just a «me thing», but it does limit the experience. Brought our pup and he enjoyed it, too… there were so many pups there! So many, in fact, that I wasn’t sure how they managed the poop situation, but somehow they did. Red Mountain Crawfish was there, dishing up the oh-so-spicy and delicious mudbugs, and Cantina on Wheels even made a showing. We will be going back often, I expect…

I absolutely love this place! It is so casual, you bring your dog or your kid, I feel like I’m at a park yet there is really good beer! Looking forward to bands and really good weather! It is definitely a strong beer, but the Fancy is yummy!!! Five star material

The location is a 5*, the beer is 3.5*. I may be in the minority when I say this about the beer as many of my friends love the beer. With the exception of the Triple and Vanillaphant I could do without the rest. The extremely large lawn make it great to bring your dog but it tends to get crazy on the first day of warm weather as it seems everyone in town flocks here. Keeping your dogs on a leash seems to be difficult as many are roaming around and there usually is a dog fight or two every time I go because some people think their dog will not start anything… well they’re wrong.

Avondale is a pretty cool place. It’s a great venue. They have an inside area and a huge outside are to sit in, and bars in both locations. There are lots of tables outside to sit at, as well as areas of grass to sit on and have a picnic if you’d like. They have a nice stage for bands to play on and entertain the crowd. On Sunday nights, they have a Walking Dead viewing party outside as well. Definitely give this place a try. It’s a nice place to chill and hang out with friends.

SO this is Birmingham?! Wow– I am REALLY digging it! Thanks Unilocal!for alerting me to Avondale’s existence — a bit off the beaten path I would never have found this gem on my own. So, let’s talk Birmingham. It is delightfully small and I think has more genuine«cool» per square mile than many other larger cities. Avondale is a prime example! This place is chill and wonderful, totally legit(adding to my esteemed list of «Best Places to Grab a Pint»). What a great atmosphere, it is dripping in it. Super friendly service brimming with pride about every tap. Locals cycled in and out with pizza and other takeout from the neighborhood, they clearly love this place enough to make this the real destination of their evening. The brews are great. I’m an IPA snob and my quest for alpha acids wasn’t wasted here! Wonderful — I would even say if you do not like beer, you will find a reason to like Avondale.

My favorite brewery in Birmingham! What makes my beer taste even better is all of the lovely green space and the fact I live in the neighborhood! My only complaint would be that as a fellow dog owner myself, I get very annoyed when people let their dog just wonder around the bar inside and out, and let the dog use the restroom, and not pick up after the animal.

I love beer. I love breweries. I love craft breweries. This is one my least favorite local breweries I’ve been to. This has to do with the beer and layout. The layout is such that seating inside is REALLY limited, which makes it difficult to drink a flight of beers. And I thought the beers were unexceptional as well. We got a flight, so I tried six beers, and I wouldn’t go out of my way to order any of them again.(I did try their IPA at Post Office Pies next door after leaving the brewery, and I didn’t dislike it, but I wasn’t wowed). So it just seemed like a really crowded, really loud brewery with okay beers. Best thing about it? Dog-friendly. I got to pet a few puppies while drinking my unexceptional beers.

OK lets be honest. Do I need to go here more? Do I need to live here? No… But I want to. What a neat place. you have the main building with a bar and food and seating. Then you have a big huge«Beer Garden» with open area and tables. A back bar for the outside area. And a stage for live music. The whole compound probably takes up ½ a city block. AND I like the beer. Mmmmmmmmm beeeeeeer. This is really just a neat neat place. Don’t miss it. Go at least once and try it out. Oh and its dog friendly.

I discovered Avondale Brewery on my first night in Birmingham when the restaurant served Vanillaphant Porter and I couldn’t wait to visit this place. After the first visit I came back for a second visit. This place is a small local brewery putting out some awesome brews. They are located in an old building, but they have done an excellent job of making the place fresh and inviting. You can smell the beer when you come in and the staff are very friendly. I absolutely love the Vanillaphant Porter. This is an awesome beer, even more awesome they have a couple others in the porter/Stout family that are equally awesome. I sampled a couple other brews and they were all fantastic, but the Vanillaphant Porter had stole my heart. I just wish I could get this in Iowa. I will definitely be back if in the area again and if a business sells Vanillaphant Porter from Avondale Brewery I will be enjoying one. Thanks for making this amazing brew!

Some of the best local brew. I’ve found a few favorites among their offerings including their Saison, the Tripel has to be my favorite. Indoors is cool. They have a rustic laid back atmosphere. Outside would be great in the right weather. We are from SC, so my son brings us Avondale brew when he visits.

This gets five stars due to Will coming through with the VIP bands! We thought Unilocal was offering gen admission, so Erin and I planned to go to Cask & Drum from 11 – 2, watch football at a friend’s 2:30−8 or so and maybe come back. We hit the gate around noon and, much to our surprise, were admitted with VIP bands. This meant we had unlimited food and drink the WHOLE day, plus access to the upstairs for an additional TV. Let’s just say the only $ we spent that day was on coffee beforehand and tips for the bartenders. We heard a few bands here and there, but cut out shortly after Erin’s LSU game ended since she was fading fast from the day’s imbibement. Probably the best perk of being a Unilocal Elite thus far… get to writing!

What keeps me coming back to this joint? The beer, the chill atmosphere, and the friendly folks behind the bar. The saison is my favorite, but most of my friends tend to gravitate towards the triple. I like the outdoor seating area on warm days/evenings. Last time we were there a band was playing on the stage, and we had to move inside in order to hear each other. But other than that, cool vibe, and def. see myself returning for more fun times. Check this place out!
