I really, really wanted to give this place a higher rating, but I can’t. I went out of my way to check this place out after winning a gift certificate to Da’ Little Café’ on the radio. First of all, it’s not really«little.» No biggie. They chose a cute name to make it sound more«southern,» I suspect. I walked in, and stood there for a minute. The size of the place threw me off. As it was larger than expected, I expected to be seated. No biggie. My friend and I went and sat down at the 4th table we looked at(the first three were dirty, even though there were no other customers at any of the tables). The place does look like a bar, but after looking at the menu, decided not to drink overpriced beers on principle alone. I couldn’t find a regular shrimp poboy(all they had was fried). I went with the roast beef poboy, which would normally come with fries, but the waitress(who was actually pretty awesome) told me about a special in which the poboys would include soup. Normally, they just came with fries. So, had I stuck with the regular poboy choice, I’d have gotten the sandwich and fries. Instead, I paid a couple dollars more, got a slightly shorter sandwich, NO fries, and some soup. Seems like that’s either just a rip-off, or they forgot to include my fries. Anyway, the potato soup was really good. I enjoyed the poboy, though I expected more from it. The roast beef(or perhaps the sauce) was saltier than expected. However, there was a decent amount of meat and sauce, so it was thick, juicy, drippy, warm, and somewhat tasty. Still, the saltiness made me wonder if they actually cooked the meat there, or if it was that preserved, pre-packaged crap you can get at a deli. I ordered a fried shrimp poboy to go(which did come with fries, as I didn’t get the special). I wanted regular shrimp, but they only had fried, for some reason. But hey, I had to kill off the rest of the balance on the gift certificate. Tried it a few hours later for dinner, and it tasted exactly as expected. Not bad, not great. Typical fried shrimp poboy. Definitely more expensive than it should have been. If they knocked all their prices down by about 25%, they might have gotten another star out of me. All in all, it’s not a place I’d go again, or suggest to anyone. Lower the prices, keep the place a little cleaner, and use some fresh ingredients, and the place would have some potential. The two things that kept me from being pissed about the whole thing were the facts that I didn’t have to pay, due to the gift certificate, and that the waitress was friendly as hell and on the ball with anything that we needed.

This place is awesome. It seems to be having a difficult time finding it’s identity, but I would describe it as a neighborhood café with some good beers on tap, maybe that is because I actually live in the neighborhood. Ronnie is awesome, always pleasant always says hello and makes suggestions if I’m unsure of what I want. I always get my food to go and the portions are enough for 2 people. They always ask if I want a complimentary beverage while waiting if my order isn’t ready. The red beans are definitely not Zataran’s, I don’t understand previous reviewer making that reference. I’ve had them more than once, and was satisfied. The muffeletta is overstuffed and more than one person can eat, and if you read the menu, you’ll know it does not come with chips or fries… and it doesn’t need them, the sandwich is quite filling all by itself. The roast beef po’ boy is messy and sloppy with gravy, just the way it should be! This is a place that could easily fit in Uptown or Metairie, but thank goodness, it is in Biloxi.

My first time to «Da Little Café». This place doesn’t know if its a café or a bar… no greeting from the get go, felt a bit awkward, not a welcomed feeling. The food: muffuletta ¼ sandwich. My friend had red beans and rice. The beans tasted like a box of Zataran’s, there was only a sprinkling of rice and it came with stale bread. The muffuletta was just that, no chips nothing. The portions were okay, a bit over priced for what we were served. The server was well mannered and attended us promptly. Another server was walking around wearing a hoodie with the hood on! I asked our server for a southern pecan beer but the server didn’t even know they had it on tap. For all intended purposes this is probably a decent place. But it is missing something that calls customers back.

I don’t know if Da’ Little Café’ lives up to it’s name. By the name, I thought I was going to be walking into a cute lil coffee shop type café, but it was more a more bar-like atmosphere. I walked in on a chilly afternoon, in search of some coffee and a sandwich. They had a larger menu than expected, with Po-boys, muffulettas, burgers, hot dogs, salads, and soups. Oh, and let’s not forget the coffee and beignets! I had a late night so my main focus was to get some coffee in my system. When I saw Café au lait on the menu, there was no question in my mind to what I was getting. At Da’ Little Café, they use French Market Coffee(chicory coffee) to prepare their café au laits. On this cooler day, I went with a hot version, although they also offer iced and frozen. The blended frozen version I saw would probably be deliciously refreshing on a hot Mississippi day. If you’re looking for a spot to grab a drink, their drafts go for $ 3.50, which is a good price to me being from Chicago. They had Abita Andygator on draft, which is one yummy beer! *Closed on Mondays.
