Good pizza and salad, horrible service. I think they are trying and would give them another shot if I were in the area. Stopped in on the way to Glacier National Park.

My husband and I ate here for a date night recently. We got the Italian Garden pizza and two glasses of wine. These were all superb. The only things that would have made our visit better were faster service and ranch dressing! Overall, great spot for dinner in Bigfork.

Cute place, friendly staff, service a little slow, pizza, wine prices, and desserts are great, but the dishes not so good. A little skimpy on the appetizers, salads and sauces to go with pasta. Would go back for pizza!

Kayleigh and Engjell have created a fabulous gift to the community, and area at large, with this amazing restaurant. We tried and shared a variety of dishes from both the pasta and pizza menus and were completely wowed! The salads are crisp, fresh and delicious and dessert is not to be missed with the Pot de Crème as the star of the show — simply the most delicious thing you’ll ever taste. With a wine selection fit for the most discerning palette and a full bar, the drinks are en pointe. All in, this is quite simply the full package — some of the best food you’ll ever eat, accompanied by drinks to enhance any experience you choose and an atmosphere that is both comfortable and charming. Well done!

We stopped in around 5:30(Saturday, winter) for takeaway pizza and only a couple of tables were occupied. By the time we left around 6:00, it was almost full. The place smelled fabulous and the dine in menu mouthwatering, especially the Greek items. They only offer pizza and salad for takeaway and close at 8:00. Our Best Ever, Italian Garden and Hawaiian pizzas were… The best ever. It’s a small restaurant, great food, decent prices($ 14 pizza), so it’s understandable if the supply doesn’t keep up with demand. Go early, be patient. The owners also have an interesting back story, too.

Staff were unfriendly and not accommodating. We nearly walked out the door after they didn’t greet us for 5 minutes. Food itself sucked. The worst part is the pretentious attitude of the host. No smile, it seemed to me that we were not regulars or people from Flathead Lake so they didn’t like us. Don’t bother coming here.

What a pleasant surprise. We’re in town for a wedding and wanted some pizzas to feed folks as they get in to the hotel. When in Rome was the only option in the phone book, but the lack of options did not translate to a lack of quality. We bought 5 different pies and all were excellent; great crust, quality toppings and made by expert hands. We took out, but next time, we’ll dine there. Great ambience and well decorated.

I have to be fair and start out by saying I did not experience much of this restaurant’s menu. We had the bruschetta which was okay — simple with halved olive tomatoes tossed in a light olive oil with garlic and presented on fresh country-style bread. What we did experience was the pretentious attitude from the host who told us, as we stepped into the restaurant right at opening, that the only table available was outside because they prefer reservations and had 100+ guests arriving. The kicker was that the time we spent there with drinks and the appetizer only one guest showed up — a take out order. I was so perturbed that I was not willing to stay and spend another dime. It was clear that they didn’t like the way we looked, or were dressed. Yep, shorts and outdoor clothing was what we had on. We were neither dirty or smelly and frankly, looked very nice. The server was delightful. That’s about it. The wine menu was sparse and listed by vineyard not varietal. As a restaurant owner I would never treat anyone in this manner. If you are new to the area and looking for pizza, go somewhere else.

I’ve been coming to Flathead during the summers for 60 years. Dining out and expectations about dining have changed a lot over the years. I had one of the best meals ever, In Bigfork or anywhere else. The roasted beet salad was perfectly composed. The beets, goat cheese, arugula, toasted hazelnuts were dressed impeccably. My gnocchi with Gorgonzola sauce melted in my mouth. The sauce was well balanced and not overwhelming. The wine list was substantial and our server was well acquainted with the wines. When In Rome has a lovely ambience, great staff front and back, and food that you really shouldn’t miss.

My friends and I ended up here after plans at another restaurant fell through, and I’m so glad we did. Having just moved to Bigfork from the San Francisco area, my friends were on the hunt for a good Italian restaurant by their house, and they’ve found it. Both the service and the food were top-notch. We came in around 6:00 on a Saturday. It wasn’t empty, but it wasn’t full either. We were seated right away. After spending the day out on Flathead Lake in the sun, we really appreciated the bottle of water left on the table for us after our glasses were filled. Our server, Lara, was very helpful in suggesting wines that went with our dinner. When she wasn’t sure, she would come back with a recommendation from their sommelier. We had the following: — Bruschetta: Delicious! I like that the toasted bread slices were topped with halves of yellow, red, and orange grape tomotoes as opposed to a chopped-up mixture of tomatoes. — Bacon-wrapped scallops(special): I don’t like scallops, so I didn’t have any of these, but my friends went through them so quickly that the plate was still warm when it was taken away. Do with that as you will. — Osso Buco(Special): So awesome! Very flavorful and tender. No need for a knife. Lots of marrow. If you’re lucky enough to be there when this is one of the specials, I’d highly recommend it. — Shrimp Raviolis(Special): I’m not even sure if my friend shared this with anyone. It was gone so quickly! — Pasta Carbonara: Could have used a bit more pancetta, but the touch of lemon zest gave it a fresh flavor that was new to me. I’d order this again. — Pepperoni pizza: I think the downfall of most pizzas is their sauce. It usually tastes too much of just tomatoes or is not very flavorful at all. They don’t have that problem here. The pizza is spot-on. It’s a thin crust pizza, but not so thin that you think you’re eating a cracker or your toppings fall off everywhere. Not drowning in cheese or sauce. The perfect ratio. For dessert, we had the baklava, chocolate pot de crème, spumoni cheesecake, and tiramisu. All were good, but the star by far was the tiramisu. Many places seem to personalize their tiramisu by dipping the ladyfingers in something other than coffee(rum seems to be popular), but not here. This is traditional tiramisu, and it’s divine. Seriously, order this. Overall, I have nothing bad to say about our dinner. The food was great. Our server, Lara, was so nice and never left us hanging for anything. If you’re in Bigfork and are craving Italian food, come here. Even if you’re not craving Italian, come here anyway. It’s awesome!

My BF and I were in Big Fork for about a week, and for our last night, we wanted a nice quiet meal close by(we were staying off Electric Ave). So we connected with Unilocal of course and decided on When in Rome. It had great reviews and they were right! We both got the Lasagna(unintentional but at $ 14 was the cheapest thing on the menu). WOW! YUM!!! The lasagna came in an individual casserole dish and it hot and bubbly and OMG good! Hands down we were both totally happy with our selection. Tasted authentic and was full of meat and cheese and lasagna wonder! Also came with a basket of bread, but that was rather uneventful. I saw several tables ordering pizza. Looked good but not amazing. BUTTHEBRUSCHETTA coming out of the kitchen looked AMAZING! Will order that next time as an appetizer. All the pasta dishes being delivered to other tables looked great, so I bet pasta is their specialty over pizza. Like I said, the lasagna was simply delicious! My only complaint was the price of wine. A typical glass of red was about $ 11 and truly didn’t warrant such as high price for a not-so-fancy restaurant. $ 7OK, but not $ 11, especially when my entrée is only $ 14. So I’m a little cheap and opted for the $ 3 bottle of locally brewed WHEATFISH(made right there in Whitefish, Montana). Brew was super tasty and I supported a local business in the process. Win Win. I would highly recommend making a reservation for dinner since the place is rather small(part of a strip mall size of restaurant) and it seemed that a lot of locals were regulars. Though they accommodated us without reservations just fine, next trip I will definitely make one… and we WILL be going back for sure! Oh, décor. Let’s talk décor. We were a little concerned when we drove into the mall strip mall on what to expect inside(they also had a When in Rome Food Truck parked outside –looked open– and was selling pizza by the slice… lol) but when we entered, we were pleasantly surprised. Wood Oven Kitchen is right as you walk in and looked very clean. White table cloths, nice décor, seemed rather upper scale and romantic. On a side note, we almost went to the more formal Italian Restaurant down the street, but we were so happy with our visit to When in Rome instead. There is also a Mexican Restaurant a few doors down that gets pretty good reviews, so we might try that too. UnilocalERS UnilocalON!!! It’s so nice to be able to travel from Florida to Montana and rely on Unilocal reviews to find gems like When in Rome!

Who knew I could find great Italian food in the little town of Bigfork? Yes, the salads are a great starter. But the main dishes are simply fantastic. The pastas are great, esp. the lobster raviolis. I had the lamb shank on the 2nd night of three, and it was superb. Good wine list, but please make a res.

Great lasagna and I could tell it was made in house, not food service food or reheated frozen food like many other Italian restaurants I’ve been to. Very busy place so be prepared for a short wait for getting seated. Everything that I saw being delivered to other tables also looked delicious. I will return here for sure on my next visit to Bigfork.

I went in to the When In Rome Pizzeria in kalispell after I heard it was owned by the same family. I hoped it was better than the big fork location! I was wrong. The pizza was fair but the service was terrable. The short girl working looked like she was twelve, and acted like it as well. No professionalism at all, hardly even a smile. Me and my two young boys ate our slices while listening to TOOLOUD music. Unfortunately the music didn’t drown out the curse words I heard coming from the Pizza cook. Our whole meal was interrupted by him talking about his plans to have his girlfriend take him to the bar later that night to ‘get s**tfaced’. When we left my five year old thought saying s**tfaced was hilarious. We won’t be dining in again.

Wine list is very extensive yet perfect! We had a new waiter(2nd day) he did okay yet lagged a little in table attentiveness. I had lasagna, meatlovers pizza, apple walnut salad. Portions were pretty small. Lasagna wasn’t what I expected. Pizza was tasty and filling, perfect crust! Salad was pleasant and fresh. Next time… Pizza & Wine.

Aaaaa-mazing! We have dine globally, at the best of the best. Wonderful, superb cuisine where we would’ve least expected it! Hubby/daughter had pizza — delish! I had a grilled chicken salad — yum. Angel, the chef, originally from Albania with roots in Rome, is supremely talented — must try!

This place has some truly amazing, food, especially considering the strip mall location. Their traditional style thin crust pizza is as good as any I’ve ever had. Also tried several pasta dishes, appetizers and desert, all we’re excellent. We went here twice during a two week stay in Bigfork both times the food was excellent. The second time, it took over an hour to get our appetizer and another 30 minutes to get our entrees. Apparently they lost our ticket which caused the delay, after they figured things out they we’re apologetic, comp’d our appetizer and gave us 15% off our bill. This salvaged what would have been a very poor experience.
