Wabo’s Tacos

Just visited Wabo tacos was skeptical going in (big bear has disappointed many times) was pleasantly surprised. I was brave ordered a mahi mahi taco and my husband ordered the mahi mahi burrito. They were so good I wish I ordered a few more tacos. Both the burrito and taco were unique and prepared in their own style. We were very pleased I can’t wait to order more items on the menu. Finally big bear has got it right.

So Sunday, Feb. 7^th, we went to grab some lunch and it took forever to get our food through the drive-​thru. The girl at the window apologized, stating we had to wait for a new batch of fries to be made. Which was not true because the bag we got was cold and hard. Additionally, the cook really needs to learn how to read. My daughter’s quesadilla was ordered WITHOUT guacamole (Even said it on the receipt). She got a huge scoop of it. My wife’s burger was ordered WITHOUT lettuce, tomatoes, onions, etc.(Even said it on the receipt). She got everything on it plus the bun was so stale that you could use it as a frisbee. Not to kick them when they are down, but the food tasted just bland. Being a local in Big Bear, I am very disappointed with this place. Good luck and double check your order before you leave.

So when Wabo’s opened up the California and carne asada burrito was some of the best I had. Yet within the last month they changed their carne asada meat and it has now become the worst carne asada I’ve ever had. The quality of meat has gone down hill that it’s at a point I’ll refuse going back as well as tell my friends not to go there until they bring back the good food with it. Also the Guac needs not to be so cold that it makes your burrito cold by the time you get it.

I had the rolled tacos and they were delicious. Good service too, kind employees.

If you are in Big Bear, go somewhere else to eat. The taco salad and the Cali burrito were terrible. We threw it out after a few bites. You are better off catching a squirrel and cooking it over a fire.

Thought I would try out Wabo’s for breakfast, I ordered a breakfast Burrito with sausage, really good, and will totally fill you up, very tasty. I will for sure go back.

Great food at a great price! Can’t beat it. Also have really good salsa! Get in ASAP!

Just tried this place for the first time. Hate to say it but, horrible. It took me ½ just to get my food to go. The fries were soggy and the bag was leaking with grease. Then i tried my carne asada tacos, disgusting. They tortillas were soggy and falling apart creating a mushy mess of a taco, with no flavor.

Just had the cali burritos and Carne asada fries… 1 word BOMB! Best burrito in big Bear no doubt. Thanks wabo!

Excellent !!! Brand new restaurant … Family owned. Portion sizes are really big, great for the hungry person. Prices are very reasonable. You definitely get what you pay for. Flavors across the board are awesome. Haven’t yet tried everything but the tacos are fantastic and so is the California burrito. I highly recommend this place! Really close to Snow Summit… Bottom of the hill. Dave, the owner, super nice guy!!!

Had the bacon burgers, chicken quesadilla and carne asada fries. The chicken quesadilla is mediocre at best. The burger was too small for the bun and severely burnt. Fries were so salty could not eat. Enough salt to dry your lips and mouth. The hot salsa actually added more salt. I’m assuming the Mexican food is probably ok but the rest of the menu is inedible.

This was hit or miss for me. I’ve been here four times since its opening and the first three times the food was really delicious. Usually, it’s packed with people but it doesn’t take too long.
The first few visits I had were good, I’ve only dined in once and you can refill your own drinks. My boyfriend and I wanted to try a variety so we got one mahi taco, the California burrito and carne asada fries. The taco could’ve used more fish but the price was so cheap, you can’t fault them too much for it. The taste and portion size of all the food was actually really good.
The reason for three stars is because the last time we went, we ordered the carne asada fries and the California burrito (which has fries in it) our fries were severely burnt to a crisp and incredibly bitter. We weren’t aware of this because we had gotten our food to go so we ended up throwing it away and wasting our money. Seems like they have a little of a consistency problem and we were surprised they would even let us go home with that.

Was in town for the storm and everyplace was busy.
Heard about this place and decided to give it a try.
Had the chicken tacos and a carnitas burrito and it was awesome!
Best Mexican in the area.
Service was fast and the place is new and clean.

I went in Tuesday morning to try their food before heading back home. Needless to say we didn’t end up eating because one of the employees said he was cleaning and take out only. I preferred a place to sit so we left without ordering anything. It was disappointing that a restaurant cannot maintain standards in order to clean.

New Business, new restaurant owner… good food. The efficiency needs to warm up BUT I’m sure with some time operating all the kinks will iron out. Salad was wonderful and my staff at Goldsmiths eats there often! The fries are quite the rage. For now just don’t expect speed. Let’s give them some time for that.

Tried for the second time. They still do not know what they are doing.
Carne Asada Burrito. Beef was tough and not hot. Luke warm.
Bathroom had a fowl smell.

I hate to leave a bad review, but the food was pretty bad. I wasn’t expecting much for a Mexican fast food place in big bear to begin with, but man it was pretty gross.
The second my girlfriend and I walked in, the entire place smelled like a Port-​O-​potty because the bathroom are right next to the front entry/​order counter.
The menu is simple and straightforward. I ordered the carne asada burrito which I honestly can say was the worst one I’ve ever had. Growing up in SoCal and having been to probably hundreds of authentic Mexican restaurants, I am biased, but this was bad. The burrito was average size containing only meat and quacamole. The meat was low quality and char flavored. The quacamole was bland and boring. The sides of hot salsa was gross. My girlfriend ordered a cheese quesadilla with quacamole and sour cream. She said it was average at best. We will not be coming back.

The restaurant was clean, bathroom was super clean and they’ve done a really good job renovating from how it looked before as KFC.
The staff was great; everyone was nice, polite, welcoming and attentive.
As far as the food goes:
I thought the prices on everything were super reasonable, with exception to the tacos. Definitely a little pricey for a tacos (but the owner is receptive so maybe we can get that changed.)
They have a really large variety of foods so you can find something for everyone.
I got a chicken burrito, it was HUGE. Packed with tons of chicken, rice and beans. I was really pleasantly suprised with how big it actually was.
It was delicious! Everyone in my party got something different, and everyone was really happy with what they got. + It was ready quickly despite their being a bit of a crowd in there.
Overall I would recommend trying it, and will definitely be going back. Fresh, higher quality and delicious food for fast food prices, well I really can’t complain there.

The worst tacos ever very small and not much flavor I will never come back and won’t recommend to anyone

Family owned business is well run with delicious food that’s freshly made and friendly staff. Ate the carne asada (steak) burrito and funnel cake. Definitely recommend. Comfortable dining room.
