Absolutely the most solid restaurant on the hill. We make a stop here every time we are here. The food is great!

Our meal was amazing!!! We got yellow curry and this eggplant dish that was seriously in the top 5 dishes I’ve eaten in my life!!! We’ve been to Big Bear plenty of times, but this was our first time trying this restaurant. This is now a must stop place for every future trip.

We’ve been here twice, once in Nov. 2014 and in Oct. 2015. This place is HIGHLY recommended. The food is excellent and I really like their wine choices. I think the service is good and place seems to be very popular. I think the strengths of this place is that it is very affordable and they give you enough food to take home and have a second meal. I love going here when I am in Big Bear and it is in a great location. The only reason why I didn’t give you guys a fifth star is because when you are eating there late, some of the staff gets anxious to close and I feel a little pressure to leave. You guys need to stay in the back and let the manager send you home and let the diners finish their dining experience in peace. It’s not that big of a deal, but please work on that. Other than that, I love this place. Nice to see ethnic variety in Big Bear. It’s a HUGEPLUS for us visitors in Big Bear!

This was my second time coming to this restaurant. Unfortunately the experience was not quite as good as the first time I had been here. It might have been because it was empty the first time, whereas it was fully packed this time around. We were seated promptly when my wife and I entered the establishment, which I very much appreciated. After that, it kind of went downhill. We had to call over someone every time we needed something(It was only a few times). I had to flag someone over to get a to-go box and the check. We recieved a to-go box, but the check never came. After waiting another 10 minutes, we just went up ourselves and paid at the counter. We ordered two orders of chicken tikka masala, two orders of naan, and one order of rice. I ordered mine a 10 out of 10 on the spiciness scale and my wife’s a 5 out of 10. They both came out mild and without much flavor. I know that the chicken tikka masala dish can and will vary from one restaurant to the next, but this dish resembled butter chicken more than the chicken tikka masala dish that one is accustomed to. If you do go here, I would recommend going when it is less busy so they can give you a bit more attention. And maybe avoid the chicken tikka masala dish and get tandoori chicken instead(that’s what everyone else seemed to be getting around us). The staff was pleasant enough.

Great food, nice staff, and always a good time here. My family has been coming here almost weekly for 5+ years. My recommendations: 1) Rack of lamb. Comes on sizzling hot plate and flavored with yummy spices. 2) Veggie korma. Tastes fresh, creamy sauce. 3) Cabbage. Very good to accompany a meat or masala dish. 4) Tandoori chicken. Probably their most popular dish(but i prefer the rack of lamb). Tips: Ask for extra chili sauce if you like spicy. I like the plain yogurt instead of raita. Mango lassi is made from fresh ingredients and no dyes.

First time here and best birthday dinner ever. Everything we ate was delicious from the veggie pakoudas, garlin naan, Himilayan mixed grill to the butter chicken, especially the butter chicken. Staff was friendly and service quick. We knew we were in for a great food fest when Alton Brown and Simon Majumdar walked in to eat here. Loved it so much we made reservations to bring friends with us the next night.

This spot is a guaranteed must whenever we make it out to Big bear. The food is so good as well as the staff. I’ve been here several times and not once have I’ve been disappointed. They serve a variety of different dishes from Napalese, Himalayan, Indian and Thai food. The wait isn’t too bad, but I suggest make reservations for a party of more than 2.

Went at 3pm so no wait. Got seated right away! Ordered chicken fried rice and chow mien for the kids. It was ok. I ordered the lunch special shrimp masala and it came with egg plant and potatoes, lentil soup, yogurt dip and white rice. The rice was dry but everything else was good. The garlic Naan bread and fried cheese appetizers with the mint dipping sauce were delicious. My husband ordered this goat stew and he asked for it to be spicy hot and it was! Service was great and restaurant was clean!

Pleasantly surprised at this place. The food was very good, but service was just soso. They didn’t know the menu and couldn’t recommend us things to try. It seems like they barely spoke any English. 5 stars for the food, 3 stars for the service

Another amazing restaurant in Big Bear. I don’t have a lot of experience eating Indian food — especially one specializing in Nepalese cuisine. I think the difference between Nepalese food and normal Indian food is that the Nepalese style has a tiny bit of Chinese twist. For instance, they have dumplings(momos) which are very similar to a Chinese dumpling but with Indian flavors.(They also have fried rice and chow mein on the menu.) We didn’t know what to expect, but were so pleasantly surprised. The momos were delicious but next time I think I would avoid ordering an appetizer so I could save room for the entrees and naan bread. The chicken tikka masala is absolutely to-die-for. They asked for our spice level, and before I could argue, my boyfriend asked for it to be hot. I was afraid it was going to be too spicy, but it was absolutely perfect. A nice touch of heat with amazing flavor. So delicious! We also ordered the Garlic Chicken Sekuwa, which was cooked perfectly. I’m a bread lover and I literally could not stop eating the garlic naan. Seriously, we had such a great meal. So excited to add this restaurant to our Big Bear dining rotation. Loved it so much, I want to find something similar near where we live.

This place is kinda over hyped with their rating and let me explain why! My girlfriend and I went here after snowboarding and we were really hungry! We checked out this place cause it sounds cool since we never tried Himalayan food before. The ambiance and their idea of a Himalayan/Indian restaurant is great cause it’s in Big Bear which they use the mountain theme. The customer service is OK cause they are polite, however our food came slow. Their menu have a different varieties of Indian dishes that my girlfriend and I recognizes. I guess the name Himalayan seems more catchy than call it an Indian restaurant in the mountains. So it’s cool, we like Indian food, too! We ordered their appetizer called a Mo-Mo, its basically if a samosa and a dumpling had a baby. It is a Mo-Mo! It’s a dumpling stuffed with spice potato like a samosa. They served it with a curry spice sauce to dip as well. It is good cause I love the creativity of this appetizer! We ordered their chapatis as well, which is an Himalayan naan like bread. The only difference is. It is crispy and lighter then a naan bread. For our main dish, we ordered their chicken Masala, which is quite good and sweet/creamy sauce made it unique. The chicken and tender and it is well prepared, however lacks chicken meat. Ordered their lamb saag, which is good, but not enough lamb meat, too. Lamb saag by the way is a spinach base sauce added with chopped grilled lamb inside. The quality is good, but won’t make you full. And of course we ordered a side of rice to eat it with. The reason why I gave this place a 3, cause it was damn expensive for just that! It is not worth spending a lot of money knowing there are better Indian cuisine that serves as an Eat All You Can buffet. Overall, it was a nice experience to eat here, but sadly won’t go back here again.

We ordered from this place for take out as it was raining outside and we didn’t really feel like leaving our cozy cabin. The delivery time was pretty fast and efficient. As for the food, everything we ordered was delicious. Starting with the garlic nan and the sauces it brings. To the chicken chili, combination grille(I believe that’s the name), mo mo dumplings, & chicken fried rice(probably my favorite). The portions are also pretty big so we got to have leftover food for breakfast, hehe! I will definitely recommend this place if you’re looking to eat some yummi comfort food.

Whenever I come to Big Bear I try to make it part of my tradition to have dinner at the«Himalayan Restaurant» in Big Bear. It’s funny that you have to come all the way up to Big Bear to find good Indian/Himalayan food. Overall the food is good, not off the wall amazing but if you like Indian food you won’t be disappointed. On my last visit I had the Chicken Tika Masala and the Lamb Curry. If you like Tika Masala make sure you get it medium or hot, the mild is too mild and too creamy, you need something to liven it up a bit. The lamb curry is tasty, the lamb itself was a little over cooked, you might want to mention to them to not over cook the lamb, otherwise the spice and the flavor is great. Don’t forget to get some garlic naan, dipping in naan into the sauces is so tasty! One comment for the restaurant, FIXYOURFRONTWINDOW! It looks really bad and low-end having your main window all taped up.

Such a treat to find authentic Nepalese fares up here in the mountains! I love anything dumplings, so I had to get the Chicken Momo. It is indeed just like dumplings except with more spiced curried fillings. A bit pricey I’d say for the size and quantity of this appetizer. Makes me want to recreate these dumplings in my kitchen :) Also started out with the Lentils that was so good — just the perfect amount of spices. I could have dined on the appetizers alone paired with a couple of Mustangs(Nepal beer) — hmm… maybe that’s what I’ll convince hubby to do next time, LOL! For our main entrée, we got the Chicken Vindaloo with spices on the side since hubby does not like as spicy as I do. That was perfect as I could spice it up as much as I wanted, hehe! Don’t forget the Garlic Naan and of course Basmati rice to go with the yummy curries. We were so full and had no room for desserts, although I was eyeing the Gulab Jamun — my favorite Indian sweets :) Service was friendly, prompt and attentive. Our glasses of water were kept full. We sat at a table in the middle of the restaurant but after placing our order, noticed that the folks by the window tables were gone. We asked to move to a table by the window and our request was politely accommodated. All in all it was a great first time experience. Although I would pay more attention to the check next time. Found out after we left the restaurant that they overcharged us for the Chicken Vindaloo. Otherwise it would have been a 5-star rating all around. Maybe they can redeem themselves next time. We shall see…

My wife says this was the best tandoori chicken she has ever had — I tried some and have to agree it’s definitely up there for me too. I enjoyed my dish as well but thought it to be a bit in the plain side with tough chicken as far as Indian food goes. The service was exceptional and super friendly and the atmosphere is warm and inviting.
