Horrible, hope this place never reopens. The building looked amazing which is what lures so many in. Food does not live up to the building at all. Clearly the owners blew all their money making their restaurant look fancy and completely failed to find a competent cook staff and menu they could execute consistently.

I visited for lunch. The dining area was well maintained and clean. We were waited on almost immediately, getting our drink orders within a minute or two. The food was good, but nothing spectacular. Good portion size for lunch, and quick turn around on our order. The price was on par with most of the restaurants in the area of similar ambience and quality.

First time here today. To be honest, I wasn’t really interested in eating here but the bf insisted that he wanted to try it. Came around 2pm, it was empty. The place was clean, decors were great, and the restroom was clean. It was a very elegant restaurant. However, the chairs and the tables were a bit boring for me. It didn’t match the décor of the place. Food: 1. Shrimp Suimai, 6 pieces for $ 7 something. 0⁄5. It was lacking flavor and the wrapper was falling apart. Not recommended at all!!! 2. I had the wangchao beef lunch $ 10 portion, came with a bowl of rice and soup(it was huge, it can feed 2 people instantly 4/5, good flavor, and good deal!) and the bf had a salmon $ 18(3/5, though it was good, it was a bit expensive for a salmon) Service: 3⁄5. They were polite. One my utensils had some food leftover(yuck!!) and the server never refilled our drinks. Also, the menu from the online website is different from the menu when I dined in. We were given a lunch menu and a dinner menu. Since we looked ahead before we got there, i was a bit disappointed that the entrees that I was gonna order wasn’t in the dine in menu. Didn’t bother to ask them though. We had a little note that came with our receipt stating that the restaurant will undergo some renovations and will be closed for the mean time. Would I come back??? Probably not. There are better Chinese restaurants around the area that is more affordable and the ambiance is just the same.

Sweet and sour chicken was good. .well presented. I had to tell the young waiter to bus our table. He bussed empty tables and forgot the only remaining guests in the place. It was far from busy. It’s a huge place… well decorated… not even a year old. Someone didn’t hold back with the money. We were in China October 2015. We didnt see anything Mandarin about this restaurant despite it being a part of its title.

Location, ambience, décor and overall design is very nice with a modern-upscale feel. We really like the place and wish them the best but as self proclaim foodies and know Asian cuisine very well, it’s like an upscale Panda Express. Can’t tell what are going for. PF Changs pulls off the fusion Chinese better and for traditional totally miss it. Again we hope they figure it out and we’ll return then.

Despite all the bad reviews, we had a pleasant experience while dining for lunch. We had a spicy chicken dish. The flavor was a little tomatoey but not horrible. The egg drop soup was good and the wontons were served on the side. I’m not a fan of the weird semi-crispy spinach leaves that they serve with 3 equally weird sauces, but it was complimentary. It’s a very large place with a huge menu. I was disappointed they don’t have egg rolls. Overall not bad, I would go back.

If I could give this restaurant 0 stars I would. I really thought it was going to be a better place and was excited to try it. The atmosphere is just cold, not warm and inviting. And the waitstaff… The girls that sat us were just unfriendly and we met the manager who– didn’t say who he was. We had to ask our server who he was after he had just walked up to our table, stared at our wine and attempted to make conversation then left. I would advise you to spend your money elsewhere where you know is good. like Stone Works or BJ’s Brewhouse.

I feel bad for this place, I really do. They want to do well but really fall short from a true mandarin cuisine restaurant. My parents have been in the Chinese restaurant business for over 25 years, so needless to say, we know our Chinese food well and our palettes have been trained for both American style Chinese food and Traditional style Chinese food. This is our second time going, we thought we’d give it a second chance since we heard it was under new management, but again, were left disappointed. We ordered a variety of dishes: Hot and sour soup– Neither hot nor sour and too salty. The color was dark brown so already we could tell it was going to be salty. Fried calamari & Spring rolls– both were bland with no flavor, not even salt. Beijing Pork– Only decent dish from our table. Sautéed Spinach and snow peas– bland, needed more sauce and garlic. Sesame Chicken– not enough sauce Orange Beef– soggy/salty Sesame Fish– too dry/flaky Sea Bass– too dry/overcooked Chicken Fried Rice– ok, not a lot of flavor This was clearly not a cheap dinner, but we wanted to try and support them and give them a chance. They need to up their flavor profile, dramatically. This is Chinese cuisine, it needs spice, flavor, and COLOR. All these dishes looked the same– bland and brown with some breaded protein. It would be so unfortunate for a customer to try Wang Chao as their first ever Chinese food experience because this is not a good/true portrayal of Chinese food. One waiter came with the Orange Beef and when we asked«is this chicken or beef» even he had to ask another wait staff«umm…is this chicken or beef?» Come on, if the staff can’t tell the difference just by looking, then you have to understand it’s just breaded brown stuff at that point. Not a good sign! Some pros: The wait staff is very nice, attentive, and polite. The atmosphere of the restaurant is beautiful, reminds me of a high end restaurant in Las Vegas. You can tell they put in a lot of thought into their décor, furniture, lighting, dishes, and silverware. But really, the restaurant needs to focus in on the food more. It doesn’t matter if the restaurant looks beautiful, customers are there for the culinary experience and it is sadly lacking. Best of luck to this restaurant because if things don’t change soon, I can’t imagine that it will remain in that space for much longer.

If I could give this place a negative 10 stars I would. First off stay far far far away from the sides. The soups all taste like goopy sewage water, yuck! And the fried rice, although they add some cool things like mushrooms and baby corn, has no flavor at all. The side noodles literally just taste like oil. The entrees have been pretty good. If you go anyways check out the Kung Pao Chicken and the honey chicken. Let’s talk about Steve Clemens, the manager. It’s a shame that this establishment is led by such an incompetent, rude person. After one of the employees made a simple, fixable mistake he snapped back ‘I can’t give you the corrected price because it’s going to take at least 10 minutes to void and re-enter the order!’ I’m sorry, I come from the industry, only an idiot would take that long to void and re-enter an order. When we came to pick up our food(which was cold), we used coupons that the marketing for director for the restaurant had given us. When my companion asked for the contact information for someone higher up in the company he told us to just google the ownership. We let him know that he had been very rude from the start and that it is unappreciated to which he replied ‘I guess no good deed comes unpunished, I shouldn’t have let you use the coupon’ I get that management has the discretion to accept or deny coupons, but really? Steve, I’m pretty sure you already know that you’re not management material. Maybe do something about and put your staff out of misery. Anyone who works under you must hate having to go in to work everyday knowing they have to work with a such a dick. And don’t worry we’ll make sure to tell every single person we come in contact with to stay far away from your restaurant. Sincerely, Fuck Steve Update 1.25.2016: Steve Clemens has been harassing us at work because of our complaints. Hopefully his corporate management team is working on getting this issue resolved.

Vegetables came out cooked with produce tags still on them. Sesame chicken was burned outside and overcooked. 7 of our party all got sick and we are calling the health department. The bud light tap was hooked to the wrong beer tap. The waitress forgot parts of our order and couldn’t figure out who ordered what. The fried rice was burnt too. Even after the manager came to our table, we had to ask for the items we ordered. I surfaced the sesame chicken issue to the manager in charge Steve Clemens. He told me that the person across from me in my party said it was ok and I didn’t know what I was talking about. I asked the person in my party and she said that the food was not up to par in the least. I paid the full amount due and went to the hostess area at the entrance and asked to speak with the general manager or owner to voice my concerns again since Steve Clemens was not accepting my feedback. Steve Clemens came back and got very belligerent and said he didn’t know what I wanted and I explained to him I wanted to escalate the issue and did not want anything for free. He then told me to get out of the restaurant and called the cops. He lied to the police on the phone saying I had threatened him, which was vouched by another one in my party, and was moving forward with filing a false police report. He also said that he would be filing a criminal trespass complaint on me. The food, service, and the staff are absolutely horrible. I will be pursuing legal action against the owners and Steve Clemens to ensure a false police report was not filed.

If you read all the one star ratings you will know this food is awful !!! The outside and the the inside scream, fresh vibrant, appealing Chinese food, but no the food Is plain awful, my wife ordered spare ribs and I the spicy chicken. With in minutes of ordering the waiter, plopped down, food that was very much not fresh, the spare ribs where tough and swimming in sticky bbq sauce, not good at all, my spicy chicken was brown and not fresh, and as it cooled a orange grease started to fill my plate, WTH !!! Till it was to almost over flowing the plate Then my wife had ordered a To go plate beforehand, well I would have broke my toe kicking her under the table to stop her, from doing it!!! This palace needs a cook, they spent good money to build a nice dream restaurant and then serve horrible food, The one star is for the wait staff Go for drinks but avoid the food

I had the Sesame chicken and it was wonderful. The flavor was a little smoky, slightly sweet and a tad spicy. The crunchiness of the breading gave it a very pleasant texture. The white rice was nothing out of the ordinary, however the house made soy sauce, which is made with a blend of cilantro and Serrano peppers, gave it the touch it needed to be an excellent side dish. I also tried the Duck Rolls, which were very good. These were accompanied by a sweet and tangy sauce. Finally, our very nice waiter brought out a sampling of Spinach chips, which are sautéed and tossed in soy sauce and sugar. The flavor was something new for me and I enjoyed it very much.

In light of the various rating extremes, we decided to give this place a try. Overall, I’m glad we did. I will start with the food. We ordered the vegetable steamed dumplings as an appetizer. They were tasty and came with three dipping sauces from sweet to spicy. The dumplings were a little undercooked; they were slightly gummy. For dinner I had the spicy chicken with white rice. It was good, but not at all spicy. In fact, I added the spiciest sauce from the appetizer and that made it great. My husband ordered vegetable stir fry with brown rice. It had good flavor and veggies, but included way too many mushrooms. Overall the food was fine(per the several«buts» above). Unlike others, I felt the food was a good value for the price. Others have commented on the service. We had a very good experience. From the time we walked in and were seated by the hostess through the service of our waiter, we were pleased. The best thing this place has going for it is the ambience. They didn’t spare any expense on the décor. The outside gardens, entrance, hostess stand(with awesome chandeliers above it), the dining room, all the way to the bathroom, it is very nice. Definitely give it a try.

You need to give this place a try! Under new management and a menu change has proven successful! YUM! We had an array of appetizers. Plates come out HOT with the appetizers and entrees. Plates and forks come out COLD for dressers and salads — like they are supposed to!!! Ask for Brandon — very attentive! Nice selection of wine! Great prices on their bottles. AND happy hour specials and features ALLDAYEVERYDAY!!!

Might be the first time that i have completely agreed with all reviews. ever! This place looks nice, fancy name, but menu totally resembles P.F. Changs… except they do it better! The first trip was a total example of early opening jitters. Terrible hosting, extremely sour hot and sour soup and the salmon in corn sauce was pretty much overcooked salmon in what looked like canned creamed corn… and tasted as such. Attributing this early woes, gave it a shot again today to better service but very very so so food. If it were not for the okay waiter and decent salad, this would be a one star. Opening salvo of pan fried vegetarian dumplings turned out to be deep fried dumplings with fairly flavorless filling. I mean at least squeeze the water out of the cabbage for petes sake so after cooking in the wrapper the filling is not rendered watery. The oriental salad was very pretty and did taste fresh though the accompanying dressing was cloyingly sweet and goopy. Cashew shrimp had butterflied shrimp that was attractively curled up, but the brown sauce tasted loke the Maggi seasoning with sugar, and not much else. Brown rice was cooked perfectly, so at least was a good eat. The bizarre thing was the egg drop soup came out looking the requisite neon yellow, but was served with the crispy wontons INIT thus rendering them limp and unattractively slimy. I pointed this out to the waiter who got me another serving with wontons on the side. Wine pours are oh about 2 ounce pours and absolutely not worth the purchase. Needless to say, there was no question of dessert. Also noticed that the managers were walking around asking people about their lunch, but skipped our table. Maybe it was our body language or something that told them it was best to not ask what they did not want to hear. Avoid

I was really hoping for a unique upscale Chinese food experience but sorry to say I found quite the opposite. The lettuce wraps were dissapointing mostly due to the fact we were served the heart of the lettuce instead if the parts that actually make a wrap. Drink orders came out wrong and we’re slow to arrive. The main entrées were just ok. My food was cold, and my friends food was very bland. This is a beautiful place… too bad the food doesn’t measure up to the building. Most likely won’t revisit!

If you are writing a bad review because of the high prices, then maybe you should stick to fast food. Price is not a reason to complain, especially when the quality is great. This food was awesome. The presentation was beautiful, the 3 entrees my husband and I ordered were so delicious. They were so flavorful and the service was great. Its such an elegant and modern place. Atmosphere is nice too. I highly recommend this place for couples or adults, and go during the week when its not so busy. All the attention is on you! I have found my new Chinese food place, and i won’t be having to go to a ghetto buffet. yay! Have a good day everyone.

I guess all of the angry reviews are because of the high prices, because our food was pretty good. Although our waiter, I’m sorry to say, was incredibly annoying and not helpful. He had zero recommendations and just pushed expensive add-ons. They started out the meal by bringing us a small plate of crispy spinach, which was pretty tasty We ordered an order of spring rolls which were crispy and fresh. One of my lunch companions ordered the beef and broccoli, which was saturated with bamboo — so much so that he really really hated it and sent it back instantly. I ordered the sesame chicken lunch portion, which was pretty modest, especially for the price, but it was genuinely delicious. $ 11 for this portion was quite pricy, although it did come with a cup of soup or salad. All in all I’m interested in trying it again.

My son and I just came from watching«The Martian». If I were Matt Damon and I knew Wangchao existed back on earth, I would opt to stay on Mars. We were driving by and went in for lunch. I wish I had checked out the Unilocal reviews before we walked in. The food is inedible. We started with hot and sour soup which had a horrible taste. I told the waiter and he said«everyone says that.» Thanks! My son had the egg drop soup and claimed it was okay. We then had a soft shell crab appetizer. It was watery and gloppy. For the entrées, we had the pineapple chicken and a beef dish. Here’s where I really get upset. I was going to give them 1 star because the presentation of the entrées was excellent. However, I quickly became angry because the pineapple chicken had a disgusting taste to it. Wangchao now gets a –1 star rating from me for deception… looking pretty, tasting awful. The whole experience was so repulsive and left such a bad aftertaste in my mouth, that upon arriving home, I went straight to the bathroom to brush my teeth and floss. Stay away. (P.S. Apparently, I have to click at least one star to post the review. That doesn’t represent my experience at all.)

First off, let me start by telling you that I wanted this place to be a lot better and maybe just like the other reviews… we hyped it up too much. Got to go to Wangchao for lunch yesterday. When I walked in, there was no one to greet me. Took a couple minutes for someone to come up to me. When I was being escorted to the table I noticed the place was spacious and definitely enough room for people to feel comfortable. Lighting was kinda bright. Music was loud but not overbearing. Took 5 mins for the waiter to come and ask for our drinks. Once drinks came out we ordered and this is where it kinda went downhill. It took almost 40 mins to get our food. We had ordered the appetizer(Crab rolls) and it came out quick but the actual food came out way later. I had to signal down the waiter to ask him where our food was. He told us that the manager was supposed to come up to us and let us know there was a miscommunication back there because they lost our order and gave it to someone else.(hard to believe someone else ordered the same thing as both of us.) He said the manager was expediting our food and apologized. Five minutes later, the manager brings out the food and doesn’t even apologize for the long wait. Food was sub par. Rice was too sticky and the dinner portion was the same size as the lunch portion. It was tasty but I wasn’t «WOW» type of face on me. This food was something that I could have ordered somewhere else and paid a lot cheaper. At the end of our lunch the waiter didn’t even give us a discount nor offered to waive the drinks for our long wait for our food. We were there for a total of almost two hours because of the whole debacle. Unfortunately, I wont be going back unless someone pays for me or someone tells me that they have changed management. I was really disappointed. I am sure after some time, things will be better but definitely not a good first impression.

My second stop at this place was a huge disappointment. Poor service. Dumplings grossly undercooked… chicken in sweet/sour chicken and in fried rice bland… no flavor. Beef in a stir fry dish tough and grisly. I will not return… ever. The review system doesn’t allow me to post zero stars, but that’s what it deserves. Depending on the bankroll of the owners this place will go belly up in 6 months or less. For such an expensive investment(the dirt and the building) it’s just a really sad story on a promising investment gone bad

I was so excited to try out this new restaurant, First thing coming up when we opened up the massive heavy doors with no windows so you cant see if you are going to hit someone on the other side, we noticed how crowded they were at 4pm. There was a 15 minute wait WITHEMPTYTABLES! The décor was super nice. They take your number and text you when your table is ready which is cool… After our long wait we finally got out table smack in the middle of the place. I personally dont like sitting in the middle of the room but whatever, I just wanted to try the food. There were plenty of other tables. we sat down to our table and there was already wine glasses and plates on the table which makes for way less room when you get your dish. I didnt scoop the food onto another plate I ate it off of the dish it was served on, what a way to make more dishes for the dish washer. And it made for so much less room on the table. Irritating in my opinion… There was 3 of us and we all ordered a dish. and also one appetizer. No room on the table at this point plus the drinks and no one came to pick up all the extra stuff on the table… When we opened out menus to order the first thing we notice of course is the Price. JEEZ! $ 18 for some sesame chicken! You have to be kidding me! The price was a little to much for my liking. That will probably be the main reason why I won’t come back. I can just go to a Chinese buffet for $ 20 for 3 people and eat all i want. I have my personal favorite Chinese place in town and this place doesn’t even compare to it. I will probably just keep going there… Our waiter Amanda was super nice, I am very observant of how the servers serve, being a server myself and I know good customer service when I see it. All in all the bill for 3 of us eating was $ 86. My dad left a tip on the table in cash, But when my dad looked at his bank statement we were charged $ 103. Whats up with that?!? We just found the receipt and there is automatic gratuity, with 15% at $ 12.03 and 18% for $ 14.43, and 20% for $ 16.04. AUTOMATICGRATUITYSHOULDONLYBEADDEDFORPARTIES6ORMORE! THEREWASONLY3OFUS! GETITTOGETHER! So they obviously added the 20% onto our check… and those should only be added with people knowing about it! Anyways I would maybe go here for like a special occasion if I felt like spending a good amount of money for food that I can get somewhere else for 10x cheaper, but probably not. I was super excited for this place to open and now that I have tried it I will have to only give it a 1 out of 5 stars sadly. Everyones views are different so go try it for yourself, Just be prepared for the bill.

Generally I am not tough on giving reviews, but this place deserves no more than one star! For the last few months every time when I drove by this place, which was under construction then, I told my wife and my daughter how much I wanted to try it out upon its grand opening. Last week we finally saw the«Open Now» sign and we were so excited and yesterday we went to lunch there. The restaurant’s design and atmosphere were beautiful. No doubt the investor put into a lot of money to build this standalone«fancy Chinese food» restaurant. The entrance door was made of iron and as you entering the foyer, the ceiling lighting above you was absolutely beautiful. Though I felt it was a bit too bright in the dinning area, but overall dinning atmosphere was really good. That is the only reason I gave it a one star. Now let’s talk about the food: 1. Menu– as I opened the menu, it quickly reminded me of PF Chang but more expensive than PF Chang. They even carry the«side dishes» the same as PF Changs. I asked the waiter if this place was affiliated with PF Chang and the answer given was«no». I came here looking for something that is extraordinary and can differentiate from others. But the first impression was not what I have expected. 2. The food– this was the most disappointing experience! We ordered an appetizer(my daughter wanted crab meat cheese puff) it came with 4 cream cheese puffs no different than other mom and pop places but costs $ 10. When you spent $ 10 for 4 puffs you would expect a bit more but none. Then we ordered 3 main dishes: Sichuan Beef, Spicy Chicken and a stir fry wang chao noodle. I felt they used the pretty much the same brown sauce on all 3 dishes because they all tasted the same(soy sauce with a bit sweetness and spices). They all looked too watery to me, especially the stir fry noodle you would expect it should be steamy hot but it was just warm and watery. By the way each dish costs more than $ 15. I ordered a glass of wine. Usually I drink 2 wines but since the food was so disappointing I had to stop. In conclusion, this place is a fancy Chinese food set up, unfortunately the food quality and standards do not live up to it. I really wish this place is something that my family could enjoy and keep coming back. But I don’t think we will go back in the near term. Hope something drastically changed in the near future. if you look for a decent good quality Chinese food I suggest you don’t waste your money and time here. But if you just care about the atmosphere or dinning set up, you could come here to give it a shot.
