I called Hong Kong Café for some delivery last night and I was pleased with the overall experience. It was not the best Chinese food I’ve ever had in my life, but it was inexpensive, local, and quick. They also offer free delivery over 20 $ and even brought the credit card terminal right to the door at my home. I was disappointed by the«Sweet and Sour Chicken». I was expecting a sautee with a sauce, with chunks of bell pepper, pineapple, and chicken. Instead I received a takeout container(small white box) full of heavily battered/dough covered chicken fingers and an overly sticky dipping sauce on the side. I called immediately to voice my frustration, and whoever I spoke with on the phone was understanding, but let me know that this is the way they always do «sweet and sour chicken». He comped me a free General Gau’s Chicken, and the driver brought it right along. That earned my respect, trust, and a positive Unilocal review. I found the Yu Hsiang Pork to be flavorful, and spicy. The orange chicken was a delicious and indulgent treat, as were the egg rolls. The chicken teriyaki was a bit on the chewy and overcooked side, but that’s what you typically get from most Chinese restaurants. I will be calling again for delivery in the future!

I really love this place. The food is great. They are fast, reliable and friendly. The establishment is clean! I can’t say enough good things about them. They are great. Always satisfies those chinese food cravings.

The new owner will do anything to satisfy his customers. I love the food here. Changes to the menu and recipes make it way better. Last owner was kind of a douche. Glad someone took after the business though.

I tried this restaurant a few days ago. Customer service was good, very nice people at the front. Not a long wait. Cheap and fast. General gau’s chicken was bomb prefer it over the Danvers site.

My family used to order from here quite a bit, years ago. Never had any issues. The food was always really good. Fast forward 6+ years, I moved back to Beverly and wanted some chinese. Got to their website and in giant red print notice«ORDERONLINE». so I did. 30 minutes go by I check my e-mail… I get an email from hong kong café stating that they needed to speak to me about my order. No phone calls. just an email that I just happened to notice. I called the restaurant, a man answered rather rudely and asked me to hold. 8 minutes of hearing the man and a woman yelling back and forth. I hang up and call back, to be told that they didn’t get my money and I need to call the website.(it’s their site). I go back to their website and after about 10 – 15 I find an 800 # for the third party company that hosts their online ordering(BeyondMenu). I call and a very helpful woman was astonished that they had me calling them about my order, and tells me that she’ll call the restaurant and take care of it. 45 minutes later. no food. I call back and the man starts arguing with me and yells cancel order and hangs up. WTF?! Needless to say I won’t be ordering from them EVER again.

YIKES! terrible, tried it twice to give them a chance felt sick both times the next day. Food is given no thought, they don’t advertise they are using MSG so they must be packing it in. Go to China Jade and pick up your food, its much much better. China Jade is good, best however on the NorthShore is Su Changs in Peabody, better than any place I have eaten in Chinatown. Mikado is also excellent, every dish we have had there has been great and even tastes healthy.

Good chinese food. Never had a bad experience, and better than your average cheap Chinese food place. Affordable combo specials. I go back time and again.

Gave this place a try tonight. Will not be ordering from them again. I am not super picky with my Chinese food, but this was pretty much inedible. The crab rangoons were soggy and disappointing. The gyoza had a strange aftertaste and I found a piece of bone in one of them!!! Immediately lost my appetite. The sauce for the gyoza had separated and was oily and flavorless. The General Gau’s chicken tasted like they used leftovers from orange chicken and just added a spicy sauce. The rice was hard and clearly was cooked a while ago. Quick delivery but very subpar food. I’d rather wait a lot longer to have delicious food. Hoping that I don’t get sick from this nasty food!

Its ok… the food is decent the service is solid, but really there’s nothing that I absolutely want from there. The prices are a bit high for me as well. Also wish they had better options on the combo choices.

They give you a free order of stuff if you order a certain amount. We get free crab Rangoon every time. They aren’t be best I’ve ever had but the price is right.

old school, BAD Chinese food… not even edible. we always eat chinese, I mean, even if it’s not good, its okay… but this place is one of those old school places, where their idea of pork fried rice is dark brown rice. I remember places like this as a kid, haven’t seen food like that in a long time. ugh, just awful. The general Gau’s chicken was gross. it had a funny taste to it. meaning they probably freeze ingredients and refreeze… try this place if you dare, but I guarantee, you will never eat there more than once…

The girlfriend and I recently ordered delivery from Hong Kong Café when we were both craving some chinese food. We ordered two of the dinner specials as well as crab rangoons and scallion pancakes. The delivery was supposed to take 30 minutes, but instead was at our apartment in 20. The food was piping hot and the girl and I both agreed that it was some of the best Chinese takeout that we had ever had. Everything tasted fresh and the portions were plentiful(leftovers made for a great lunch the next day). All in all, the place is cheap, food is good and delivery service was stellar. This will definitely be our go-to place for Chinese take-out from now on.

I dont know why anyone would say anything about how awesome their food is. Me and the wife eat in Boston a lot and this is the only place in North Shore where you can get decent Chinese food. A+

I’ve gotten flyers in the past and checked out their website, both of which looked professional, so I decided to check it out. in my opinion, the lady is sooooo rude. When we walked in she just stares at us then gives a small unwelcoming hello. I casually asked a question about the menu and she just stares at me for a few seconds then very angrily says«I don’t’ understand your question!» If you don’t understand you can just say so. I contemplated for a minute then we just left While I was contemplating I saw her using serving tongs to pick up noodles off the kitchen counter. Don’t know what other shortcuts she takes in the back. Interior was old and shabby, early 90s look with that faux wood wallpaper stuff. Few old and dingy pics of foods on the wall. It’s the cheap quality chinese food but it’s not cheap(around $ 9 for dinner plates).

The woman at the register is downright rude. Nasty and offensively rude. For no reason, right off the bat. I was shocked at how nasty and rude she is.

The food is okay… it’s fast food Chinese takeout. My gripe is with the woman who handles the orders! She is rude over the phone, even ruder in person. I feel like I’m bothering her if I make an order. A ‘thank you’ wouldn’t kill her either… or a smile.

It’s Chinese Food. It’s pretty cheap. The kids like it. I find it edible. It’s a takeout joint. There are two tables. They have smoothie thingies with lychee and other tropical fruits. (that’s it)
