This is one of the worst restaurants in the city. This morning when my husband and I went there for breakfast for our 47th wedding anniversary, there was a large piece of glass in my pancakes!!! I freaked out. The waitress came by and said that the little maple syrup containers are washed too hot and the bottoms of them come off — this time IN MY FOOD! The waitress said my meal would be free — duh — then she never brought me another meal. I just sat there while my husband ate (albeit very carefully) some dry cereal. We left.

i was a fan of mel’s. it’s a cute little 50-​esque diner. you can chose to dine inside or outside and the menu is pretty big, lots of choices. the prices are fair, and the service is a bit slow, but good other than that. there are security guards at the door (which is a good thing because we were bothered by someone asking for money right at our table outside for a little while). there isn’t much to say about mel’s really… typical diner, oh and they serve alcohol as well.

I’ve been going to Mels since I was a kid. Although their menu is large the novelty never dies out. Recently, I got to go to the Hollywood location and really like their version of the Cobb salad and their Onion Rings are really really good too.

Everything was just ok. Service was better when we first got there, but towards the end, the guy was gone. Had to track him down, get our check, pay etc. They serve beer, so that’s cool and the fries and onion rings were ok, just diner food. Also got coffee and chocolate cake and all that was just ok too. They valet for you, so that’s cool. Tons of people in club gear coming in after 1am. Holy cow, how are those chicks not frozen. «Hoodrat hoodrat hoochie momma!» ;)

It’s an alright place to head down to when you’re looking for some late night munchies. Super cheap and super cute. * Biased: I’m a sucker for vintage, old school, old style places. Food is decent. Good service. Really good portions. Good price. Not the kind of place i would recommend to someone just visiting LA, but nice enough that most would probs NOT AT ALL mind going to for some cute midnight dinner.
