i’m giving 3 stars today, not because i was disappointed; rather, i see great potential with their revised menu. i had only been skratch a couple of times, and while i enjoyed the food, i was always disappointed with the lack of variety on their menu. then one day, as i was driving by, i noticed that the name had changed to choppe choppe, then i saw… «bahn mi» on the menu! nice! i thought to myself.

I work in Culver City and this is a great quick and easy lunch spot with a small and delicious menu. Service is quick adn ingredients are really fresh. I almost always get the edamame pesto sandwhich. Light and healthy lunch. Their home made cookies are delicious too.

We walked by today and they were CLOSED permanently. I’m broken hearted without my beet salad. 5 stars so hopefully they think about reopening!

Okay so i walked over here after the gym one day and I am hooked! I crave this place when i am hungry during the afternoons. I am obsessed with their Chicken Mango Wrap and their tomato soup. Their other soups are all also really really good! Just ask for a sample! As I am writing my review I wish i was there eating ;) They have yummy chocolate chip cookies you can buy too for a treat after you eat! The place is small, and they only have about 4 tables to sit outside on a first come first serve basis, so a lot of the time i just get my food to go.

I rarely do this. Review restaurants or cafes that is. My go to venue for reviewing is a fitness studio, a blow dry bar or a coffee house. But, oh Choppe Choppe you’ve left me impressed, and wanting for more. Where do I start? Maybe here: BH work horse/stomping the grounds of Camden/Bedford/Brighton/Beverly(north AND south) for 2.5 years/seeks affordable, fresh and yummy food in 90201. From pharmacies(Mickey Fine) to Whole Foods I have looked high and low in the golden triangle. I had been perusing the lines for months now, shrugged off suggestions from friends to go, snobbily passing by because something inside me was tired. So tired of trying to make BH yummy and cozy and home. Not only was I greeted by the friendly girl taking my order(with an iPad), to the friendly guy taking my payment(with an iPad) the price is just right and the food fresh. Under 10 bucks for a dish with greens, goat cheese, beets and grilled chicken(and that’s after I took a couple things out). Great service, great prices, great taste. I frequent that other chopshop a lot and can’t always say the same(except for the service part). Don’t let those bratty WME kids deter you from coming in. Go to Choppe Choppe! Plus it’s sort of fun to try and say 10 times fast.

Yum! I’ve been here a couple of times and I love the concept! I’ve tried several of their flavor variations and my favorites are the mango coconut and the mexican corn. The curried butternut squash soup is vegan(yay for soups without heavy cream!) and tastes like fall in a cup. What really stands out here is the high quality of the ingredients. Everything is incredibly fresh. The tuna and salmon are both wonderful. I recommend the salads but the sandwiches are good as well. Why didn’t they get 5 stars? Competitive seating makes it a hard place to meet someone for lunch. It’s more of a grab and go place. Also, it’s a little intimidating and overwhelming the way the menu is set up. It’s hard to mix and match for those who are indecisive, like moi! But overall this is a great quick lunch spot in BH!

As much as I like this place I have recently stopped going. Why? Well, I already thought their food was a bit pricey, turns out they didn’t think it was pricey enough! Their smallest soup(which is absolutely MICRO in size) used to be $ 3.50 and that was way too much for me. Sadly they have raised it to $ 4 now! The rest of the soups have also raised in price at least $.50 as well. Secondly, their great sandwiches used to be $ 8, which was slightly on the high side for me again, but they raised it now to $ 9. $ 9! That’s with no side, no small salad, no bread, no nothing. This is a great place but it’s simply overpriced for how simplistic their meals are. They aren’t filling enough and they leave something to be desired.

Was in the area and looking for something low key and reasonably priced. We found Choppe Choppe via Unilocal and decided to check it out. Here’s what we ordered: –Barbacoa sandwich: fresh chicken sandwich… could have been a bit larger –Leaning salad: huge portion with a good balance of greens and chicken. Dressing was flavorful They have a small menu and you choose your protein(salmon, chicken, beef or turkey) and how you want to consume it(salad, wrap or sandwich). No matter the protein or way it’s prepared, everything is $ 8. They also have soups, sides and drinks but we passed on those. The only thing I have to say is that this seems to be more of a take away place. There are only 5 or so tables outside. Inside is quite small so I can see this place being cramped during the prime lunch hour. I like this place over Lemonade and Tender Greens.

Smart concept for a busy lunch in BH: Have 5 – 6 menu items but sell people on the semblance of choice by offering each as a salad/sandwich/wrap. All of the ingredients in my «Leaning» wrap(chicken, lettuce, sundried tomatoes) were fresh and tasty… although it was a little disconcerting to see how the toppings gravitated heavily towards the center, while there was only lettuce left in the end tips of the tortilla. Also, the service was fast and the green haired employee(Alex?) was chirpy and very friendly. It seems like the staff genuinely enjoy working at Choppe Choppe, which only helps to increase diners enjoyment of the food and atmosphere. Nice bonus of being next to the Teuscher Chocolate and Café, as I always find it amusing to «go on safari» with all of the cougars hanging around drinking coffee during the day.

After a long day out and about my friend and I were in dire need of food. We aren’t super familiar with the dining options in Beverly Hills so we Unilocaled our way over here hoping for some fast, healthy good eats. It’s a small outfit — walk in, order anything in the style of a wrap, salad or sandwich. Everything is $ 8.00 + tax and there’s some limited seating outside. My friend got what they said is a favorite there(Thai Steak) in a wrap and I got the Salmon Barbacoa in a salad. Service was quick and we luckily grabbed a table outside. I can see why it only is $ 8.00 — the majority of my salad was lettuce, a smattering of corn, tomatoes and carrots… maybe 3oz of salmon. It was cooked OK. Not super tasty /not bad. Maybe because I left the cheese off and no dressing my salad felt a little lackluster. Either way it just wasn’t very exciting or tasty. However, my friend seemed to really enjoy her wrap… This isn’t a place I would go out of my way to eat at but if I were in the area again and needed a quick bite I’d want to go back and try something else.

This PLACEROCKS! I am unsure why it is closed but looking forward to the reopening, and hopefully, its closer to Hollywood. Ill start off by saying this place has a very very friendly staff. Everyone is super nice! Second, its FAST! Even on the busy lunch hour on a Saturday, I paid for my food, went and took a piss, then by the time I came out of the bathroom, my food was ready. VERYNICE! The food tops it off. AMAZING food! Ive had the pulled pork sandwich and warp. It has fig and white grape compote which is like a spice to the pork. Then there is truffle oil mayo on top of that. REALLYGREAT! I also had the Brie and Mushroom soup and its honestly the best mushroom soup I have ever had! Choppe Choppe! Open back Up Up!

Ode to a wonderful eatery overthrown by premature death of success due to bureaucratic jerking-off. This place in Culver City is permanently CLOSED, as the answering machine message so sadly recited, but there also is a glimmer of hope for another restaurant in the Beverly Hills area. I loved Choppe Choppe with all my wallet and taste buds, and as an avid customer, I will follow him… follow him wherever he may go… And I think the chef would appreciate if you all did too.

I’m always looking for a new place to have lunch in Culver City since I’m working there and of course a place that’s reasonable priced. I read some reviews on Unilocal and walked over one afternoon. It obviously gets pretty busy there during lunch, more often than not I’ve seen a long line out the door(it usually gets really crowded around 1pm). They have a core selection of sandwiches/wraps, soups, cookies and drinks. I’ve only gotten the wraps and haven’t had the chance to try the soups yet. Their wraps are fresh and fast which is exactly what I like when I’m in a rush(I’m always in a rush it seems) and hungry! Here’s what I’ve gotten so far: 1. roasted chicken with sun dried tomatoes and provolone– not my favorite wrap surprisingly but still good. 2. spicy tuna– their sauce is soooo good. I think this is my favorite wrap so far. They give you nice large chunks of seared tuna. 3. banh mi– definitely not your traditional banh mi, a twist… too bad I didn’t realize it had goat cheese in it.(sigh I’m not a big fan of the goat… whatever I just picked out most of it). But the sweet chutney or sauce in it was really good as well. I think the next time I’ll try the Edamame and the Three Mustard Turkey and perhaps a soup. All in all, I think this place is pretty good for the price– it’s quick and easy and the food is deliciously fresh!

Edamame Sandwich with the miso dressing and hummus is ridiculous. Get it, and you won’t be disappointed. Oh, and try the Spicy Ahi Salad – super tasty. The cookies are fab, soft and chewy, you get two for whatever they charge. Prices are super affordable and the portions are filling. Service has always been incredibly friendly. I was super late picking up an order due to traffic, and even though it was after closing time, they still greeted me with smiles when I arrived. Only bad thing is the parking situation, but there’s a lot around the corner and if you’re lucky, you’ll find a meter.

Time 23in and 47 seconds This was the amount of time it took us to walk a block to Choppe Choppe, order, eat and walk back to the car. Seems crazy impossible. AND we didn’t rush at all. Hell, I even stopped to snap a pic to instagram. This is the perfect example of a quick, good, affordable, filling lunch. Staff was GREAT! Food was good. Although some of the ingredients in our items could have been stronger. Ie: pickled veggies in the banh mi and I didn’t taste any blue cheese flavor in the Stilton Blue cream spread in my market chicken wrap. Their lemonades are totally a must buy. I’m so going back for a big bowl of their Curry Coconut Squash Soup. The scoch of a sample I had was delish.

Been here a few times to give it a well-rounded review finally. I like walking in and being greeted by a staffer who takes your order on a PDA so that by the time you get to the register they have your total ready. The sandwiches are generally excellent; my favorite is the spicy tuna. It surprises me that they don’t have any ice for their drinks, and they waste a lot of packaging material wrapping everything up. Perhaps if they had cardboard trays?

Have you ever gotten into a long, «friendly» debate with someone and the easiest solution is to do a little research on the internets to find out who is right, but for some reason, it doesn’t happen until the debate has been going on for a good couple of hours? Maybe because humans like to debate. Well, it’s happening with me and myself right now. When I first found this place on Unilocal,I was so confused because of the pictures and descriptions that call this place Skratch. I still have no idea what the relation between Skratch and Choppe Choppe is? If it’s the former name, then why are there so many references to Skratch still? Shrug. I have a feeling this will hold the record for longest self-debate in Allen-history. Right up there with my longest one-time, non-self-debate(yes, I have categories) about the difference between duvets, comforters, duvet covers, and comforter covers which lasted with my buddy for HOURS. Or possibly even up there with the longest continual, non-self-debate with fools who continue to argue that«irregardless» is an informal word that is allowed. DAMNIT, IT’S NOT! Dont’ get me started… REGARDLESS, I’m just gonna refer to this place as Choppe Skratch when I recommend it to people. Lemme set the scene: Three pals. Chilly Monday night. Hour before their closing at 8:30pm(Yes, they close at 8:30pm! Get going!). Suffice it to say, we pretty much had the place to ourselves and most people who were coming in were getting takeout. A lot of them seemed to be repeat customers too. One word, 7 languages: SOUPS!!! SOPAS! SOUPES! ZUPPE! SABAW! UNFAMILIARARABICSYMBOLFORTHEWORD«SOUPS»! A SERIESOFSQUARESREPRESENTINGTHEWORD«SOUPS» INJAPANESECOZ I DON’T HAVETHEPLUGINFORJAPANESE! My gah, the soups here are AMAAAAYSING!!! No literally, ALL of them are fantastic. With the combination of all my friends and I sampling the soups, I was able to taste all of them, and NONE of the soups disappointed. My ultimate fav is the Roasted Red Pepper with Smoked Gouda soup, so of course I ordered a bowl of that. You should too. I also had the Braised Pulled Pork sandwich. You can get every sandwich either in a wrap or on a bun. I wanted a bun, but they only had wheat buns at the time. I think you can get brioche buns too. The sandwich was very good – a little sweeter than I thought it would be, probably because of the fig & white grape compote in the sandwich, but it was still good. If you don’t like sweet sandwiches, or sweet/savory combos, don’t get it. It’s like a major sweet kick. One friend SWORE the chicken she had was the softest, bestest chicken she’s ever had. Wow, talk about DRAMATIC. I think next time(and there WILL be a next time), I’m gonna try the Banh Mi Pork, the Ahi Tuna, and the Market Chicken sandwiches, possibly in one pudgy session. In sum: The place seems to use really good, fresh ingredients. Wonderful ingredient combinations in all their sandwiches(You WILL have trouble deciding. Trust me). Seemingly healthy ingredients and healthy options/substitutions. Cute/quaint/sleek environment. Clean. Recyclable/biodegradable packaging. Very friendly staff. They stamp their packaging-adorable! Freakin’ cheap. All around, DUH, WINNING!

Ahh another great sandwich place. I swear I’m on a never search for the perfect sandwich place in WLA. I just need something closer than Bay Cities because that parking madness is just too hard to swallow sometimes. Went to Choppe Choppe for lunch today around 12:30. It can get pretty busy but they’re really quick at preparing your order. literally less than 5 minutes. Anyway, the place is pretty small inside. a small counter with seats & then like 4 tables for 4. There are more tables outside on their patio. When I first walked in I was greeted by one of their workers which was nice. He asked me if I needed any help ordering and I told him it was my first time. He kindly explained to me what was going on with the menu… basically 4 different proteins done 2 ways and you can order any of them as a sammie, salad, or wrap. I was like Uhmm menu overload! Right now they have done away with the Tuna items and replaced them with filet mignon [asado or black mustard]. I really do appreciate this man’s help! Definitely +1 for that alone. I ordered the filet mignon asado sandwich which had spinach, tomatoes, aoli, and a chimichurri sauce. I also ordered a cup of their wild mushroom & brie soup. This was such a satisfying meal! The sandwich was really delicious. Honestly, I thought the meat could have been seasoned a little more & I could have had more chimichurri on that baby but the meat was super tender so I wasn’t really complaining. I was worried that a steak sandwich could be tough to eat if the meat wasn’t tender enough, but that wasn’t the problem here. I could easily bite through each piece of meat which I was happy to see. I also liked the bread here. It reminded me of a croissant in both texture and taste. Although it didn’t look like a croissant it had the same airiness and hint of sweetness that made my sandwich pretty darn good. But let me tell you about that soup. Absolutely delish! Probably the best soup I’ve had in awhile. Wild mushroom & brie soup. Doesn’t sound that amazing nor does it sound THAT unique. But the flavors are spot on. Super creamy without being too greasy or overwhelming. Definitely a lot of mushrooms going on. I could taste the mushrooms in the broth itself and of course with ever other spoonful. It was definitely a mushroom SOUP with the creaminess of brie instead of just a cream soup w/mushrooms. I could have definitely eaten whole bowl of just that. Together both cost around $ 10. The sammie was $ 6.75 and a cup of soup was like $ 2.50. I would say this place is reasonably priced and probably a great place to eat if you’re in DTCC and don’t wanna blow your cash at Akasha. Parking is located in the back & the restaurant validates for the first hour. I would undoubtedly come back!

Choppe Choppe! Skratch has changed to their name to such a cutesy phrase. It’s a well known method that if you repeat something twice it usually works. Since I like cutesy things I don’t mind of course! They’ve also replaced some items and are opening for dinner time too. Service is still friendly and pretty smooth. I recognized mostly the same staff, but i believe they might have a new manager? Not quite sure but I overheard something like that. Some of the newer items they might be having trouble with in terms of time. It took forever for my friend to get his banh mi pork sandwich. Which is not the Vietnamese version at all, but Choppe Choppe’s own twist. They had two new beef items, but were out of both… booo. Also noted a curry chicken. Not much has changed here, the name, and the menu is a bit different. Other than that, same old place. I’ve tried the sandwich and wrap versions so this time I was determined to try out their salads. Are they as good as the rest? If so. then tender greens would really have some competition. Ended up trying the lemon mustard turkey. Piles of greens packed into a recycled paper large takeout box, pile of turkey, shredded carrots, 3 slices of tomatoes, a container of lemon mustard dressing, and a piece of bread completed their lemon mustard salad. Was it as good as their sandwiches? Their wraps? Nope. It didn’t live up to what they could do. By itself, the salad was in very large portions, very fresh, tasty in itself, but definitely needed more tlc to equal the way they create their sandwiches and wraps. Not to say I wouldn’t come here for a salad again, but only if I felt like a simpler one. It just didn’t feel as put together as their other items. Felt a little bit sad about this… but I still love their sandwiches anyways. One thing I’ve learned from a friend is that the cookies are really good. She came here after eating lunch elsewhere just for those. Hmm, so maybe I’ll have to try one next time I come back here. Still love this place, but not for the salads. The sandwiches and wraps are made so well that they are more than what they are, the salad… is just a salad. Oh yes, please have the new beef sandwiches for my next visit!!!
