I visited Bouchon for lunch on a weekday to try their DineLA menu. I had high expectations for the food, but sadly they were only half-way met. For starters, my date and I shared the salmon tartare and the soupe de jour(which was cauliflower soup that day). Both were delicious and made my tastebuds happy. The tartare was soft and savory and when eaten with small pieces of toasted bread, both the flavors and textures were incredible. My favorite was the soup which had the perfect amount of creaminess and richness. Then came the entrees which left me disappointed. We tried the croque madame and the tartine de thon nicoise(an open tuna sandwich with hard-boiled eggs and olives). Both came in decent portions, and the other half of the entrée was a very large serving of fries. The food filled me up but didn’t leave me elated as the tartare and soup did. The croque and tartine were decent, but not spectacular. In short, the service was wonderful and the restaurant is beautiful, but the food was just ok. Definitely order with caution here.

Had a wonderful evening at Bouchon! Our waitress provided an excellent service and the food were superb. The salmon was cooked to perfection and chicken tasted great too. Highlight of the evening was meeting Mr. Thomas Keller himself! Thanks for the great meal and a memorable evening.

If your ready for French cuisine, this is the place. The sauces that accompany the entrees bring out so much flavor. Making sure the freshness of the ingredients makes each bite a delight.

I love this place. Make a reservation before you come in, since they don’t allow walk ins sometimes. If you don’t have a reservation, chances are, you’ll be seated by the bar area which has little tables around it too. I went around dinner time on a Saturday so it was pretty packed. But, the food got to us quickly and it was delicious. I’m a fan of French cuisine and good alcohol. The Bu cocktail is great. The escargot is delicious. For entrée, I had lamb and my partner had pork tenderloin. I loved my dish but kept stealing bites from my partner’s! The lamb was juicy and tender and the pork was also. Tasted like bacon but oh my gosh, the cream that came with it-heaven! I also really like how the menu changes by season. That means, it’s fresh!

Perfect 5 stars. The staff is very courteous and professional. The décor and ambiance is so pleasant and I was surprised how large a restaurant it is. Yet bustling on a Friday night. The food was amazing. I could not stop eating the warm fresh bread before my first course even came! I came for dineLA and ordered the escargots for an appetizer, lamb for the entire and rice pudding for the dessert. My dinner mates ordered the chicken which got rave reviews and the bouchon dessert as this is what they are known for. As I am a chocolate addict anyways and have had the bouchon here before I am happy I tried something different. It was too good to stop eating.

I was looking for a good restaurant to bring a friend who was visiting from Milan. This was the perfect choice. Downstairs is the casual restaurant, with breakfast and lunch. Dog friendly patio. Upstairs is the main restaurant, with beautiful high ceilings, intricately tiled floor, a very European feel. Loved the décor. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful and any of them will help you if you have a need. We started with the Roast Marrow($ 12), which was a tiny little bit of marrow in two large bones. Tasty with a tasty sauce, very rich. Then Luciano had the mussels in broth($ 28.50) and liked them very much. I had the Sole Meuniere($ 32) which I liked a lot, not loved, but liked. Usually a restaurant gives you only one side of the fish. This time it was both sides and they boned it at the table and did a very good job. I have a horror of fish bones because my aunt almost died when one got stuck in her throat. But the boning was very expertly done and there was only one small little bone that I could see before I ate that bite. The sauce was very buttery. The fish was a little too done for me. I like it dry but this was crusty, which I didn’t expect. Usually sole meuniere melts in the mouth but this was more like a meatier piece of fish. I am not a Thomas Keller fan and I think his cuisine is just okay. We got there early and by the time we left(around 8 pm) the place was buzzing and a little bit noisy. The people coming in at the later hour were VERY dressed up. If you want to impress a date, this would be the place. The best part of the whole experience was sitting on the upstairs little outside terrace, overlooking the landscaped plaza and Canon Drive. This is a very very nice restaurant and I will be coming back, even though I don’t think the food is fabulous. The downstairs patio is dog-friendly so I will be bringing Joey.

Très déçue, le loup était sec, digne d’un fast good. Le service à peine suffisant. Je né conseille absolument pas, avec tous les bons restaurants de LA… Marie

While certainly not bad, this restaurant is way overhyped. I enjoyed the interior and people watching more than the actual food. I ordered cauliflower soup, lamb shoulder with vegetables and their specialty drink, the Paper Plane. My brother got their Monday fried chicken special. The drink, which my server recommended, wasn’t good. I’m not a lightweight but it was super strong and tasted like straight rubbing alcohol. I don’t recommend it. The best part of my meal was the soup. Creamy, tasty, and rich without being overbearing. My lamb shoulder was fine, but nothing particularly special. I tasted the fried chicken, grits, and collard greens that my brother ordered. The grits were cheesy but alright overall. Collard greens were decent. But what I was really surprised by is the quality of the chicken. It was good, of course, but not significantly better than fried chicken I could have ordered for literally one quarter of the price at Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles. Decent service and okay food, but not worth the price.
