Came for the Oktoberfest 5K from upstate NY and were expecting a larger festival really. We came on Saturday afternoon for the 5K packet pick-up and decided to check out the«festival.» It was cool outside and there were minimal people at the event. There were just a few food places and a beer tent. One location appeared to be more authentic German foods. We had a pretzel at one location which was stale and must’ve been sitting under the heat lamp for awhile but was reasonably priced at $ 3. You can buy reusable mugs/cups and have them refilled with beers at a discounted rate if you feel like drinking a lot. We just got a $ 616oz Oktoberfest which was nice, cold and no wait in the beer line. Staff was very friendly. I loved the location of the Steel Stacks which in itself is awesome to visit but this review is just on the festival — which wasn’t worth traveling to. It seems like it would be nice for those in the area to visit and they have a beer tasting event that you can buy tickets for(I think about $ 30). This festival itself was free. They did have a band playing, which was nice and I believe they had some dancing teams but didn’t stay to watch. We did try some really tasty Bacon Jam while we were there.
