Savage Auto Repair & Towning

I scraped a rock after which I noticed a loud grumbling sound like a leaking muffler. I call Savage Auto to see if I could take my Nissan Quest in and have them fix the problem. I mentioned that I had no ride home (3 miles away) if I had to leave the van. Keith Savage kindly offered to give me a ride home and that would not be a problem. Upon arriving, Keith first took a look and determine that I had bent a bracket that surrounded the exhaust pipe. He bent the bracket back into place and problem fixed. He would not take any compensation saying it only took a couple of minutes.
We moved here a month ago and had not source of support for things like auto repair. Savage Auto is certainly a breath of fresh honest air. They will be doing all of my auto repairs needs in the future. By the way, their service bay was immaculately clean and neat. They run a good shop.

This review is long over due and I’d give ‘em 6 stars if I could.
We’ve had interactions with the Savage boys a couple of times over the last few years. Their location is just up the road from our camp and I first brought my car there after hearing strange tire noises during the long ma$$hole commute up I-​95. It took them all of 5 minutes to figure out that the boston-​area shop that had swapped in my snow tires had forgotten to torque the bolts on one tire and it was dangerously unsecured. They refused to take any money and sent me on my way after tightening things up.
Same thing happened to my GF — she brought her car there for something that ended up being trivial and got taken care of without being charged.
I think the first time we actually were able to pay them money was when family members from the naples/​sebago region took a truck in to get looked at. They did a great job for a reasonable price.
Today took the cake though. Freakin labor day 2011 and my car won’t start in the driveway at our camp. I was 80% sure the fancy-​pants keyless starter or ignition system was messed up when I called them. I figured I’d try a jumpstart and if that did not work I’d ask for a tow into their shop or the dealership.
They drove to my house. On labor day. Got the car started and then tried to wave away an offer of payment. After all the other times they treated us so well I had to refuse and actually push some money on them before they left.
Highly recommended.

Good shop — been a few times for inspection sticker. Found a little more socializing than dealing with customers who were made to wait while employess chatted for 20 minutes, but work was fine.
