This was a very interesting bar to visit. They specialize in a Mexican drink called«Pulque». I had never heard of it. It comes from the sap of the agave plant(where tequila comes from). It was delicious, very reasonably priced, and the servings are huge, and they have many different flavors and versions of it. The service and atmosphere went with their signature drink, wonderful. This place is just more proof that Berwyn is a hidden gym in Chicagoland.

$ 30.00 for a small and a medium pulque to go??? I end up tipping 20% because the personnel had nothing to do with the pricing, but I wasn’t aware that pulque is more expensive that a glass of champagne

My wife and I came to «Porqueria» because we wanted Tapas, we bought a Grupon for 20 dollars. From the beginning, we were lost. We saw two signs, one advertising a tapas restaurant and the other, pulqueria. We walked in and were confused by the décor; it Seemed like it was a Bar/Night Club with a failed Sports bar, with the Cars and street signs posted around. Didn’t seem like they had their minds made up about what they wanted. The menu seemed mediocre. With very few selections for Tapas. I’ll admit drinks are good. The waitresses were not experienced: except for one. My wife ordered a grilled skirt steak, but it seemed to be a Bottom Round that was placed on a flat iron. We asked to take it back and were offered to replace the dish. We ordered a tapa. We were disappointed with the Extreme saltiness of the shrimp that was given with Cilantro and A dried up lime. The music was way too loud. We wanted to leave. When we received the bill we saw we were still being charged for the steak. Not a single time did the manager come over to apologize for anything. I ended up getting diarrhea from the food I ate. As we were leaving. We saw the restaurant getting busy. We were confused because the food is the equivalent of eating dog food. I feed my dog better food at a lower price as opposed to this place. We were ripped off. You wouldn’t catch me dead in this poor excuse of an establishment. You get better service and food at a drive thru than this place.

Was there a few days ago and will never come back. Service was fantastic(the place was empty at 8pm) but thats not enough to overcome the poor effort they put into the food. This was a tapas place before so I think they kept some of that for the menu. Fried calamari was rubbery. Queso de cabra tasted cheap as if they used dollar store brand tomato sauce and the cheapest possible goat cheese they could find. The bread they served with it was not seasoned, just pieces of white bread you can buy at any grocery store. The paella tasted good except the ratio of meat to rice was 1 to 10. The pulque was decent as well but we came to eat not to drink pulque. I learned why it was empty when we walked in at 8pm. I hate to do this to a small business but no one should waste their time or money here.

I walked into to. this establishment a few hours ago to ask for seating for 15. The place wasn’t crowded and didn’t seem. too busy so I waited at the door to ask for seating and all of waitresses just kept ignoring my presence and I was never approached. Now I understand if it was busy and all of personnel had their hands tied up not being able to attend someone at the door but at this moment this wasn’t the case. As a business owner and once a restaurant owner it’s ashamed to give this place a negative review. Not able to have the opportunity to taste the food is also a big NEGATIVE… This restaurant has gone over its head to attend an almost new customer. I truly believe in supporting local businesses but this place is out of my menu of places to enjoy my Sundays. I was put on the spot with my family and business partners when I was ignored at the door and had to come out and inform my guests that this establishment was very unprofessional. We then proceeded to LAQUINTADELOSREYES.

First time here and will be my last. Drinks are great, but the food here is disgusting! I ordered a plate that was suppose to have a «New York Strip Steak» with 3 Jumbo garlic shrimp and rice/beans on the side. What I received was this… A slice of thin flavorless taco meat, & my jumbo shrimp? They were jumbo alright but so overcooked and rubbery and to top it off? My shrimp still had CaCa in them… How appetizing. Jumbo CaCa shrimp. Paid 15 $ for this plate. This experiance will deffinately keep me from never coming back. So my review is to warn you how expensive the food is and how horrible it tastes. Drinks are good though. If you decide to go here, just have a drink lol

First time visit experience was worth another visit. Paella de mariscos was prepared well. I would have preferred a more variety of seafood in the dish, but overall a good dish. I would have done without the calamari. It was drowning in olive oil and lacked flavor. The queso de cabra was a nice treat. Now. The pulque drink? By far, a well made drink. I tried the coconut and the guayaba pulques. The drink itself is a reason to come back. The guitar soloist provided a nice atmosphere playing the songs of my parents. The good ones. The service was nice and not a forced politeness. Very genuine. I would need try other dishes to see if it merits beyond four stars.

I wish there was a no star option, this place really I mean really sucks. I’m surprised they are still in business and haven’t killed anyone. Don’t waste your money people.
