This place is my new breakfast spot. I’ve been here a few times now, and my food and service has constantly been superb. Quality food, quality people, always good vibes. I’d introduce my friends after a night out, after a late night shift, or right before starting my day. Keep it up!

Walked in, then walked out. I refuse to go to «cash only» places. Modernize or perish.

Went there 1 time. I found the owner to be a delight. The food was… edible. The menu, could be better.

Classic Diner. So there’s only a counter: so what? It’s all about the food here, especially breakfast. The food is cooked right in front of you, so no complaining about what’s going in your food — you don’t like what you see, tell ‘em! There should be more places like the Nip, not less. Staff is fairly friendly, but pretty quiet, and for counter/communal eating, I find you can be amazingly left alone if you so choose. All in all, a tops in my book — and I’m pretty picky on my Diners.

Local diner, and I like to support local small businesses. I even went twice just to be fair with my review. Or to be more honest, I couldn’t believe how bad it was the first time. All food comes from Sav a Lot($ 2 pack of bacon that sells at Nip for $ 2.25 for 3 pieces). The owner apparently just went through a divorce, and I’m not surprised. She is telling everyone in the building about it. Very, very angry person(«apparently I lost a fan and ladder in the divorce too, F him!») I watched her open boxes in the back room, move inventory, and walk out to the grill and roll sausages WITHHERHANDS(because using a utensil would be crazy right?) and she never washed her hands. A customer had coffee grounds in his coffee, so an employee took it away and was going to get a fresh cup. Owner comes storming up «what did you do that for?» And throws the coffee cup down, pulls out the coffee filter to make another pot and throws it in the trash as hard as she could. About 3 feet in front of me. Nice temper lady. The license plates in the window say it all folks — «Avoid Nip n Tuck»!

Have to try it at least once! It might not be for you, but if it is, you’ll be back again and again. The owner, Becky has to be one of the nicest people around. The hot turkey sandwich is a must!

Come for the Hot Turkey Sandwich. Stay for the sliders. Or better yet… come here when you are in the mood for both simultaneously. Read my tip as well as tips and reviews from others. The hot turkey sandwich at Nip N Tuck is hands down the best around. The. Best. Around. However they only serve it on random days(with every other day being devoted to the hot beef sandwich, also good but not in the same ballpark). Which makes the sliders all the more worth mentioning, in case you need an alternative to fall back on if you show up on one of the dreaded hot beef days. Like many of the more traditional slider joints, Nip n Tuck calls their sliders hamburgers and cheeseburgers. But let’s not beat around the bush, they are really sliders(though on the larger size). A small patty comes off the flattop grill and is placed onto a standard-sized grocery store hamburger bun. On the side you get fresh lettuce, tomato, dill pickle chips, and onion(raw, not grilled). Put on what you want(along with ketchup and/or mustard) and leave the rest. Eat and repeat until full. Bacon is available to add for a nominal charge. Yum. They’re not the most amazing burgers in town but they’re pretty tasty. There is no wow factor like there is with the hot turkey, but I’ve certainly had worse burgers from diners with way less character. Breakfast here is also pretty decent. The atmosphere is fantastic, one of the last remaining classic diners around, with real regulars and real personality. Many of the other reviews already cover the overall awesomeness of Becky and her establishment so read those reviews if you want to know more. I feel very fortunate to live only a couple blocks away from such a historic and cool diner that provides so much for the community without even trying to. Sometimes wish they were open a bit later(or on Sundays and days surrounding long holiday weekends) but I respect Becky’s decision to be open when she wants to be and closed when she feels like it. Don’t like it? Go ahead and try to argue with her. Good luck. Cash Only!

This place isn’t going to be for everyone, but for what it is it’s the best at it. Small place, cash only, basic menu of things that can be made on a griddle. Beautiful thin omelets, hash browns perfectly done, great sausage. My new favorite place to grab a bite before running errands. This is NOT the place to meet up with your 8 best friends for a leisurely brunch. No tables, just stools at the counter. You can usually get a seat within a few minutes if there isn’t one immediately available.

I used to stop by this little place when back in 2004 to 2005. I was actually living in Berkley at the time. I really enjoyed stopping by early in the morning getting to know some of the regulars. The dad of the current owner was alive then and used to run this place. It was great getting to know him and was saddened to learn just before I had to move that he had passed away. I am glad to see on this web site that this nice old fashioned diner is still open serving great breakfasts. God bless.

We ended up here for breakfast as Tim’s brother bought him a gift certificate to the place… had two omelets, toast and coffee… and got nearly $ 6 change back from our $ 20 certificate! This is a classic diner. Nothing fancy, a limited menu and counter-seating for about 15 or 20 folks. It’s kind of like Cheers without the beers… lots of folks here who are regulars like the guy sitting next to us at the counter who told us he’d been going to the place since he was a little kid(50+ years ago!). No one is a stranger here, even if it’s your first visit here(as it was for us). Great breakfast, and I know I’ll be back as they have $ 3 egg salad sandwiches on the menu – one of my favorites that I seem to rarely be able to get in a restaurant or grocery store deli counter! Chill while your breakfast is cooked right before you, check out the vintage baseball pennants on the wall, chat up the super-friendly regulars and staff… it’s a fun stop for a decent breakfast or lunch.

Honestly, not our kind of place. It’s a small diner with bar stools at the counter. There’s a server and a cook and a really limited menu. A basic omelette, eggs, meat, hash browns, pancakes, or french toast. That’s really about it. Now I’m not naïve, I’m sure the same thing happens at diners all over back in the kitchen where I can’t see, but we watched the cook crack eggs and then handle toast with the same fingers with raw egg on it. And the cooking area wasn’t the cleanest. Sure there’s a little bit of charm to a small diner where everyone is friendly to each other, but I like a few more menu choices and the belief that my food is being prepared without the risk of salmonella.

Just ate here and we loved the atmosphere/vibe. I feel like the food was better because of the service/staff. Hubby had hashbrowns and hotcakes, and I had french toast. The food really is diner food, but it’s good diner food.

Best breakfast special in the country. I am a sausage lover, and the links that Becky serves are simply great. The lunch specials are always very good and the soups will warm your soul on a cold day. This old style diner is just a pleasure for breakfast or lunch, and I am still going back after 30 years.

Great breakfast spot. Always get the ham, hash browns and two sunny side up and always perfect. Never been for lunch. Small lunch counter old fashion dinner. Worth a try as it has been here many years.

Stopped in on a whim one Saturday morning and we were pleasantly surprised. The service was quick and friendly. The prices are more than reasonable. There is only seating around the counter, so there was a very brief wait, but not long at all. It was obvious that this is a local hangout as we were seated next to people who were openly chatting yet they had come in at different times and appeared to be «neighborly.» Give it a try, I think next time we will try lunch.

As a small, greasy spoon diner, this is a 5 star spot. Friendly counter service, inexpensive and a rare neighborhood feel.

I’ve worked down the block from Becky’s Nip N Tuck for 4 years and have never gone there, although we have a school group who goes there every day. So, I FINALLY decided to try it, as I’m trying to try new places & I’m looking for Mom & Pop-type places. It was the atmosphere I was looking for — obviously local regulars who know each other. As others have said, while they all seem to know each other, they also don’t make«outsiders» feel like they’re intruding. The food was just ok. I ordered a patty melt and fries. I was surprised to see that there was bacon on the patty melt; I’d never seen that before. I was disappointed that the hamburger was really just a slider — a tiny patty that only took up ½ of each half of the sandwich. But, it was grilled well, albeit with American cheese, rather than my preferred cheddar. The fries were plentiful and hot — I actually had to wait a few minutes for them to cool down. I will say I was expecting it to be a little cheaper, as it is such a little hole in the wall type place, but it was certainly reasonable. And their pricing seems to be rounded to the nearest dollar; I didn’t hear anybody owing any change at all. They also don’t have tickets for your bill.(My patty melt was $ 3.90& the fries were $ 2.00, which I have no qualms with. But the breakfast & lunch specials were $ 6 and seemed pricier than other restaurants that offer similar things.) When you’re ready to go, someone just goes over to the register & tells you how much you owe. On the other hand, they actually undercharge, since they don’t fully charge tax; my bill really should’ve been a little more than it was.

Another Saturday, another hour to kill before my son’s baseball game. Unilocal directs me to the Nip N Tuck. Tiny, counter only, cash only. Décor is umm, interesting if you like random baseball items and funny phrases/bumperstickers. Mostly regulars sitting in there, but they don’t make you feel like you’re intruding. I just hoped I wasn’t selecting someone’s favorite seat. The food was good, inexpensive, cooked fresh in front of me. Just what I needed. If this was in my neighborhood, I’d stop in frequently.

Warning: CASHONLY, no cards; counter seating only; limited vegetarian selection, vegans stay away After passing Becky’s Nip-N-Tuck restaurant the other day while driving down 11 Mile Road, Jeffrey B. and I decided this is where FBT should be. We got a late start so it was closer to lunch, but that’s ok. We make the rules here. NNT is a diner of the purest order in Berkley in the industrial part. The restaurant is from the 50s and has only counter seating. The décor is a mish-mash of kitsch, curios and knickknacks. It’s truly a unique dining experience. The kitchen prepares traditional breakfast and lunch fare. There is a selection of sandwiches, sides and breakfast items. There are also paper plates with specials taped to the hand-written menu board. It’s just that kind of place. The owner, Becky, is very nice and friendly, but I wouldn’t call her cheerful. She seems gruff but was actually really nice to us. Out of the 10 people there we were the only non-regulars. There was a high school boy there named Joe who had been eating there since he was young. A drink concoction made from lemonade and Hershey’s strawberry syrup has been called the«Joe» for years since he was the first to order it. I thought that was downright charming. What other type of place has character and a story like that? Not many. I ordered the Hot Turkey Sandwich special. It was delicious. The turkey was real, hot, roasted turkey served on doughy white bread with gravy. It was served with mashed potatoes and corn. The meal was $ 5.50. The coffee was only $ 1.05. True, this isn’t the fanciest place that you’ll find. But the prices are good, the food is prepared quickly, served hot and everything is delicious. It’s a locally owned place that’s been around for 60 years. Sadly, these types of places are disappearing quickly. You better hurry to the NNT before it ends up in a museum or Greenfield Village.
