I have been looking for the perfect knitting store since moving to the Detroit area and finally found it! I stopped in the store in search of a new project. The owner was friendly and helpful, giving me some great ideas and helping me find the necessary supplies. I will absolutely be back!

I attended my first class tonight as a new knitter at a beginner level. Angela(my instructor) had quickly chose a pattern for me that would add to my fairly basic skill level and from the beginning I was learning a new cast on! She was extremely patient and encouraging as I continually made errors while she added helpful tips, tricks, explanations and corrections. There were two tables set up for two separate groups of men and women and every seat was filled. Comfortable and friendly with lots of conversation and great people.

I wanted to learn to knit and Have You Any Wool just happened to be the shop closest to where I live. I’m so happy that I went there. Since I first walked in several months ago, I’ve taken a series of knitting classes and also a few crochet lessons… and(excuse the pun) I’m hooked. Everyone who works there has been extremely warm and welcoming, and very patient when I ask a million questions. Plus, there’s a discount on materials purchased the day you’re attending a class. The shop is a feast for the eyes — so many colors and textures, with little sample knit squares to show you what a yarn will look like when knit. It has a nice«community» feel, with a long wooden table where knitters can gather, good conversation, a great cozy atmosphere. Skip the impersonal big-box craft stores. Give your business to HYAW, a fabulous local business with an amazing selection and super people.

The best yarn shop ever! Great selection and helpful staff. Beginners and experienced fiber friends will all find just what they need(or don’t know they need yet) Go

I’ve just started to teach myself how to knit. I finished my first ball of yarn and so I needed some more. I decided to upgrade to some better wool and to buy locally instead of from a large craftplex. I went to quaint downtown Berkley and walked into«have you any wool?» I was immediately greeted at the door by a woman. I told her that I just started knitting and she literally cheered. I explained to her that I needed some big sewing needles and some yarn. She recommended needles that I would need. She sold me only the ones I would need right now and that had a case, not every needle she sold. She also directed me to her clearance wool so I could get some good wool for about 30% off since I’m just starting out. She asked what I was making and I explained I’m making an iPod cozy from a book. I didn’t have the book on me so she looked up the pattern on the interweb and helped me pick out the correct yarn. I had a lot of questions and she answered all of them for me. She suggested a lot of books and different options to upgrade to in the future. Eventually another employee/owner(?) came over and gave me a lot of good information. Have You Any Wool? seemed to have a large selection of yarn and supplies. Also, they have classes for instruction if you’re so inclined. I would definintely recommend going here if you’re just starting out. They were so helpful and friendly. It also felt good to buy local and support some people that are passionate about an interesting craft.

I can only but knit a scarf, but have much appreciation for… have you any Wool. It is such a quaint little wool shop. Yet, has an abundance of variety and color! It’s amazing how this store can fit such a plethora of wool along each wall. Seriously, the wool is displayed in baskets along the walls up to the ceiling. It’s a little overwhelming and cozy at the same time. This store also offers classes and inspirational ideas for unique creations. I have to say, it’s a very ‘pretty’ shop.
