Really sub-par Hawaiian food especially since the price increase. I had the mini short rib meal and a Kalua pork burger with fries… total around $ 15. Was not impressed at all. I can see why this place was empty at lunch time. I won’t be going back and don’t recommend this place.

Their hawaiian food is excellent(pork kalua) but since I’m often in a rush I can just stop by here for a few orders of spam musubi. Great price and perfect for a quick snack if you’re in the area.

I was so set on having Hawaiian and totally built my hopes far too high. I walked in and quickly noticed the filth and uncleanliness of the restaurant. I still ordered what I was craving — loco moco. While I was waiting I went and washed my hands. Geezzz!!! Do these people ever clean their bathroom? It was freaking disgusting. Dirt and build up all over the toilet and on the sink bas! This led me to be super crazy and notice the filth in the rest of the restaurant. Not impressed! And I’m shocked I still ate the loco moco. It was decent. The gravy, the teriyaki, and sweet and sour sauce used here is like gelatin. Bottom line, a crap ton of corn starch. Not impressed. Tip: owners need to go across the street to the dollar store and buy cleaning supplies and SCRUB!!!

Do not eat here. The main guy at the counter is a theif. I’ve only eaten there twice and both times they have given me the wrong change back. Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice, write a review on Unilocal. The first time my meal cost $ 4.38. HECHARGEDMYCARD $ 43.80. If I haven’t noticed I probably wouldn’t have realzed. No apologies or anything. The second time I ordered the same thing $ 4.38. I gave him cash this time. My change should have been… 1 $ 10 dollar bill, 1 $ 5 dollar bill, and some change. Instead I got back 2 $ 5 dollar bills, and change. Classic shell-game scam. These people should be shut down and run out of buisness. Don’t go there if you don’t want to get ripped off! Seriously, this is probably to only time in my entire restaurant dining venturs, that someone has been this blatant about ripping people off. You are warned.

I have found an L&L substitute near UC Berkeley! Huzzah! So, feeling lazy and gluttonous today, I decided to order in some dinner. To my office. At the UC. I settled on Wiki Wiki and spent the(short) wait for my delivery slightly worried it wasn’t going to live up to my San Diego L&L expectations, but I was so wrong. I got my standard, a BBQ chicken plate. Now, it’s not better than L&L, I’ll say that. I would have loved more cabbage, and the teriyaki sauce was a thick sauce that kind of hurt my tongue(L&L’s is very thin and just soaks right into the rice whereas this coats the ball of rice) but it was good. The chicken was just like L&L’s — the portion was mayyyyyybe a bit smaller, but still too much for me to finish. And maybe my L&L down in SD was super generous. The rice was so densely packed, it was a little struggle to get the ball apart. I don’t have strong feelings either way about that: P Now, for the macaroni salad. I am not normally a fan of mac salad. L&L’s is the only one I’ve ever liked so I was worried I was gonna be just eating rice and chicken today. But this, this mac salad is super similar to L&L’s and I LOVEDIT. I ate all of it, and I asked for 2 mac scoops and one rice instead of the standard 2 rice/1 mac. Overall, the food was your standard Hawaiian fast food grill food, which is exactly what I wanted today. My other big props to Wiki Wiki was that I requested the 2 scoops of mac on my online order, noting that substitutions incur a $.50 charge. I said I would be all right with them not being able to do it because of that, but they did anyway and gave me the extra teriyaki sauce I also asked for. I really appreciated that! This place isn’t the best, fanciest, classiest meal you’re gonna find, but damn it’s delicious and filling and the right mix of sweet, savory, warm, and creamy. I’m very happy to have tried Wiki Wiki today and I’ll definitely be eating it again soon.

This place is a sorry excuse for a restaurant especially a Hawaiian restaurant. The food tastes nothing like Hawaiian food. It seems they just throw frozen food in the microwave and serve. The women at the cashier was also cold and unpleasant. Nothing good about this place.

Does not taste very authentic. I ordered a combo plate of BBQ chicken and kalua pork. The mac salad tastes funky. I had a few bites and couldn’t finish it. The bbq chicken had a weird texture as if it were dried out prior to being cooked, flavorwise it did not have that savory umami flavor the way shoyu or bbq chicken should have. The kalua pork was also not as smoky savory as the kind you find on plate lunches in Hawaii. I was disappointed.

I ordered the chicken katsu — the chicken pieces are so thin — most of it is just bread and the meat feels very cheap. Also the katsu sauce is not good at all in my opinion. I tried some ketchup but it seemed like it had not been used in a long time. I did not like it at all.

Got the Chicken Katsu burger which was average. It has lettuce, tomato, and onion. The Katsu itself is nice and crisp but the hamburger lacks flavor. Not bad for $ 3 though. Also had the kalua pork lunch plate that comes with Mac salad and rice. The pork was pretty good though salty while the mac salad was delicious. This one was around $ 10. Might try something else next time.

I had been eyeing this place for a long time because I like Hawaiian food, but never went in because it looked pretty dingy, rarely had many customers inside, and the windows weren’t very clean. When I finally went to Wiki Wiki, I ordered the chicken katsu, which seemed to be very popular in Unilocal reviews. The guy who took the order was really friendly. Unfortunately, however, the fried chicken was really bitter. I think this might be the result of using very old oil. Regardless, the meal was disappointing and bitter enough that I couldn’t finish it.

We were so thankful to have a cheerful delivery man bring us lunch at work during the massive rainstorm that left us without power for a few hours. I really appreciate that kind of customer service, even after getting lost. The kahlua pork is perfect, plus their macaroni salad is probably the best I’ve ever had. We’ll be doing this again soon.

Time for another Hawaiian BBQ fix. Like I’ve mentioned in another Hawaiian joint, there aren’t that many Island food options in the East Bay area. That means, when I find a joint, I’m not going to pass it by. This place was no different. It originally came up on my Eat24 app when looking for a place to chow for dinner. After doing some research, I realized this place was only 15 minutes away from my house, so I decided to just take the drive up and check the area out. Rolling up to this joint, you’ll notice the neon sign of the restaurant with a pineapple like creature. The inside is pretty big, full of table seating. The walls are bright yellow and the menu is mounted super big on the side of the ordering station. Everything seems pretty clean and inviting for mealtime. Speaking of, here’s what I ordered: Regular sized Chicken Katsu for $ 8.25. WOW, talk about huge portions! They literally included three breaded chicken fillets cut up. The breading is panko bread crumbs and super crispy. This plate was also served with two scoops of white rice and a scoop of macaroni salad. Everything was flavored nicely and lots of food meant happy bellies! This place gave such a great impression, I KNOW I’ll be back again soon. The place is located in a super chill neighborhood in Berkeley. If you’re ever in the area, come check them out. They’re just filled with good Hawaiian grub!

I’ve been looking for something like L&L in San Jose/Campbell, so I was super excited when I found this place. It’s cheap and they give you a good amount(the not-so-mini mini size is enough to fill you up if you eat the rice and macaroni, which is complimentary). I got their mini bbq chicken, but I’ll have to come back and try the chicken katsu in order to write a full review. Service: I got to-go and my food came in 5−7ish minutes after I ordered.

We stopped in for a quick bite while strolling through downtown Berkeley. Since we wanted sushi and all of the sushi places were closed at the time, we decided to check this place out. The menu is similar to what you would get at an L&L. The food is fast, cheap and decent for the price. If you’re in a hurry and you want something filling and cheap, you can’t go wrong with island fare. The only drawback for us, was that the place could use a little cleaning up. The door to the bathroom had dirty fingerprints all over and didn’t seem to have been wiped for some time, which made me leery about using it. I know the place was semi busy but there was food on the floor as well. The soda fountain was semi functioning, and probably needed to have some maintenance done. Our food came out at a decent amount of time and tasted good but after noticing those sanitation distractions, we kind of lost our appetite. Sigh!

Loco Moco! Good enough for a local boy 2400 miles away from Honolulu! The hamburger steak has just the right amount of seasoning. Other Unilocal comment about the taste. It’s not just a hamburger patty, call it Hamburger Steak(Japanese). It is normally made with minced onions, garlic, celery salt, cayenne, soy sauce, panko crumbs, and mayonnaise. Like a meatloaf. Nice gravy and perfect over easy eggs. Decent macaroni salad. A big plate lunch. Lost one star. Just wish is came in a mini serving. Hard to reheat a leftover fried egg. Mahalo!
