Dolled Up, to me, has the classier clothes of the 3 neighboring vintage stores surrounding the small Dwight shopping area. I’ve even managed to pick up a few dresses appropriate for weddings, rivaling that of the bride herself(whoops, my b). I think their selection of hats & jewelry is pretty top notch, too. The prices are a little higher than the other places, but worth the quality… I think they must weed through the junk and put on display their most treasured pieces. My personal favorite is, right now, due to the season, they have a plethora of fox shawls, pelts & hats– even if you’re not in the market to buy, stop in for a few minutes to play dress up and feel like a princess… or what I prefer, a rich old money grubbing hag.

i think this has become my favorite vintage shop in berkeley! they really have beautiful stuff here, that is reasonably priced. i also love the décor/ambiance, which is always a plus. you can tell the items in the store were carefully picked to express a variety and cohesiveness at the same time. the last time i went in i bought 2 purses. i easily could’ve bought 4 purses and a pair of shoes, but i had to stop somewhere! also the person working there was super friendly and nice. i definitely need to come here more often than i do.

Karen is just a ‘HAUTE chick”… (the Propriater) And has a beautiful store. It has a Jena sai qua about it… A Fashionistas Shangri la! And she always has something nice to say about my outfits. Very personable.

I’m far from a big or frequent spender, but the owner remembers me when I come in and always suggests outfits that’d suit me, often going in the back to get something she just got and hasn’t steamed or priced yet(and giving me a discount for that reason). The clothes here are marvelous– you don’t have to pick through mountains of polyester 70s stuff to find a chic little 40s suit or a 30s gown. And the owner will help you accessorize. The prices are great, too– especially when compared with pricey SF vintage shops like La Rosa.

Literally a few steps down from Twister Vintage and the owners know each other. Both are nice and give discounts! Gotta luv that! Less selections here but I found them better and cheaper. However, I only managed to find a cute dangly choker/necklace for myself. I found a cute tweedy-like/fleece dress that’s perfect for work and/or a casual night out, but it was super tiny in size. I gave it to my super sexy and petite coworker who ended up buying it. I can’t wait to see it on her.

This shop is okay, but nothing to write home about. I thought the purses and shoes were probably the best items in the shop. Other items such as coats, blouses, skirts were just so, so. There seem to be a couple of people working there, but I was in the shop for about 20 minutes and nobody even said ‘hello’. Customer service doesn’t seem to be one of their main concerns, and I have better places to spend my money.

Despite being the vintage fashion fiend that I am, I have to mentally prepare to go into this store because I’m usually ignored out of existence. Maybe she and her salespeople can sniff-out graduate students with limited budgets. There is always a stock of stunning items — like a furry white jacket that just screamed glamour! — but the time I bought something from here I was gearing up for an 80s prom as Cyndi Lauper. I did manage to find just what I was looking for in terms of footwear and accessories: quite possibly the ugliest heels in the Bay Area and a pair of hilariously tacky earrings. That’s not to be misinterpreted, though, because they have a huge selection of vintage shoes for all tastes. It’s just that my size 8 feet, despite being average by modern standards, are apparently gargantuan compared to what must have been average 50 – 60 years ago. Vintage shopping around Dwight and San Pablo is a good experience heightened by having a variety of flavorful stores to sample. That said, if you’re in the neighborhood and have some time, don’t forget to stop into nearby Twisters and Icon Vintage.

I’ve bought my girlfriend a number of great presents from here. The owner, Karen, is always helpful, and points me to items I probably wouldn’t have found on my own. And the lady back home is always appreciative of a nice gift.

After rolling to Trieste for mid-day lack of espressoine dosis, I walked into this cute shop. Good selection of clothes, dresses and a very good vibe from Karen, I believe she is the owner. Good finds. There is also a peculiar collection of a few Italian lady hats.

The woman who runs this shop has clearly found her calling in life. She knows the backstory on most of the items in the shop and will happily flit around, trying to find exactly what you’re looking for.(Or not: I fell in love with some embroidered leather gloves that actually fit my big ol’ hands.) And she has great stuff – even Saul had a good time!
