Berkeley Mills

I would be very wary of doing business with Berkeley Mills. I had hoped they could make a kitchen table for me, but in order to have them come out and look at my needs I was required to give them a $ 500 check. From the outset they doubted I had mailed my check. After the representative finally came to my home he sent some drawings and wood samples which didn’t mesh at all with what I had asked for. It has now been five months. I have asked for the business to refund the remainder of my five hundred dollars deducting the design fee and one site visit. They have denied that any of the $ 500 is coming to me. Therefore it is my advice not to do business with this company. Their emphasis is on your money and not customer service.

The true test of class for a business is not how they treat their most well heeled customers, but the quality of their service to a new customer who walks in off the street with high expectations, a precise schedule — and a very tight budget!
On that score, Joel Allen and Berkeley Mills delivered over and beyond my expectations.
My job was relatively small — a floor to ceiling glass sliding bedroom closet, using excellent quality German Raumplus system, but made in North America to keep costs down.
Yet Joel spent the time to:
— discuss in detail to find a solution that suited my needs
— worked with me on the budget
— travelled across the bay to my apartment to produce architect-​quality precision drawings of the space
— discussed with my contractor and the Container Store producing the interior closet brackets
— arranged for a warehouse visit of the final doors when they were delivered
— managed the precise and efficient installation by their team.
The installed bedroom closet doors have that quality feel that is rare these days and signals peace of mind over the long term. It has certainly transformed my daily living experience.
Thank you Joel for going the extra mile and making me feel like my job mattered a lot to you and your company.

They do unbelievably beautiful work that is just like the fine craftsman of the days of yore that many think is no longer available. Ergo, if you need something beautiful and have the money to pay a craftsman to invest the hours needed to make you something that is truly heirloom quality, Berkeley Mills is the place to go.

We love Berkeley Mills! Every day we appreciate our Berkeley Mills kitchen, bathroom, dining set, beds, dressers, and various other pieces. Each is a work of art. To top off our beautiful Berkeley Mills home we added their custom made doors and trim to match. Expensive — yes. Worth it — absolutely — nothing else compares. We thank Gene, Dave and staff for their knowledge, expertise, and integrity. Even better, no hassles during the remodel therefore making us very happy campers.

Four stars because i am a fan of the pieces they have here. Beautiful tables. However, i just can’t ever imagine justifying paying 10K for a dining room table. Guess i’ll be back here when i reach top tax bracket and run out of things i need to buy. Even then maybe i could settle for a dining table that costs 2K, and give 8K to people who are starving.

This is a great place if money means absolutely nothing to you. Is the work good? Yes. Is it that good? No way. Hard to justify $ 8,000 for a credenza, etc. But, I guess there are a lot of people out there with lots of quan. Like they say, «there’s a sucker born every day.»

For the ultra high end milling project if you have the budget and you have the patience. Lovely options for either simple solutions or trying mill out furniture for a custom entertainment counsel. If you are working on any kitchen cabinetry option and would need something unique, out of the ordinary Home Depo alternative, Berkeley Mills is your place. They will make anything and everything to fit, but remember, measure twice and cut once, as you can’t «stretch» it.

Nice, nice nice stuff. It’s too bad I’ve got good taste and an IKEA budget. Anyway, I have been eying the slate back bed for some time. 6,460.00. Lots o’ money.

We’ve been buying pieces over the years, generally when the economy is circling the drain and Berkeley Mills has sales. Great quality and friendly staff.
If Gene is around, ask him about the childrens’ books he’s written. He lives near my kid’s ex-​school, and his house and yard look like his furniture.

Every time I visit my aunt’s house I am struck by the gooourgeous wood piece (to call it furniture would be inappropriate) that sits in the foyer. It’s a cabinet with all these soft swoops and gentle lines that just makes me drool. She’s deeply commited to Berkeley Mills and I’m working up the courage to drop some cash on this house bling!

This place has some beautiful furniture. All originally designed and made in their workshop, which you can see through a window in their showroom. Modern looking wood pieces with subtle Asian accents. Larry Elison (CEO of Oracle Corporation) bought a really fancy looking patio table here. Prices are in the $$$$ + get an additional job range.
