As an avid wine-o, I have often heard great things about the wines coming out of the Red Mountain AVA. On our trip to Walla Walla, we decided to make the hour long drive to spend a day in the Red Mountains(Benton City). I had Cooper on my list of places to visit for awhile based on some ‘locals’ recommendations. We happily stopped in here and we were not disappointed. Cooper focuses on Bordeaux varietals, mostly reds, though they do have some whites. Upon getting out of the car, we were greeted by «Bud Cooper» the winery dog. He came up to us for some pettings and then guided us inside the tasting room. Here we were greeted by the friendly tasting room ‘server’. She was super friendly and very engaging. We sat for about 30 minutes talking to her about the wines and tasting. Neil, owner/winermaker, thought we were having a lot of fun so he decided to join us. He was absolutely fantastic. You can tell the passion he has for farming and wine. We talked extensively about all sorts of things, wine, beer, grape growing, social media, his past experiences and viticulture. Upon hearing about my interest in viticulture, he promptly poured my wife and I a glass of wine and took us out into the vineyard for a tour of the grounds. This was extremely unexpected but most appreciated. The tasting room is quite simple and located right next to the fermentation tanks in the ‘garage’ area. So if you are looking to sit outside and relax and enjoy the views, this place is not for you BUT if you want top-notch, legit wines and a fantastic tasting experience, Cooper should not be missed. This place is definitely a must stop for people who want to taste the essence and purity of Red Mountain fruit. Great people and great wines, this, for me, is what makes a tasting experience, and Cooper delivered!

We live nearby and often take guests here to taste wine. On Saturdays in the summer Neil has different food trucks come out, which is a great addition out here. The tasting room always has a really fun, laid-back vibe, like Neil. If Neil doesn’t greet you first, then his dog Bud will. The wines offered are often different varietals than elsewhere on Red Mountain, so that is always interesting. And of course they are nice wines. I think my favorite part about Cooper is the great variety of wine he offers.

I love their boutique wines! I also really enjoyed the company of Neil and Sarah, even the dog Bud, However I did feel that their wine was a little too pricey for my tastes. I’ll be back, but only for special promotions and events. *edit* The wine got more affordable! Aha! Went back again and walked away with a few bottles this time. Phenomenal wine as well. It was also really great to talk to Coop, He’s a good winemaker, but an amazing host!

The wine was fine. The tasting room was fine. We had a Unilocal deal for a freebie. Bud is an awesome greeter. But there are options out there that are either more beautiful view wise or nicer tasting rooms. Sorry!

The quality of wine that will make spending a few hundred bucks seem like a bargain. Do not pass on the whites before tasting the reds.

The very best wine on Red Mountain. My fiancé and I fell in love with this winery 3 years ago on a snowy day, we immediately became part of the Cooper Winery Family. Being from the south, we felt right at home and appreciated the wine maker pouring for us. Everyone can find a wine they love, or in my case several at Cooper’s.

If you are in the area you need to go here! Cooper doesn’t make a wine that I don’t like. All are excellent! We became a member and look forward to our wine shipments every quarter. Can’t say enough about this fantastic wine and the folks bringing it to market.

With all I read about Cooper Winery, I was very excited to visit them and try«inizio». Went there for barrel opening day and could not try Inizio because it was not the wine we could taste today… One word: disappointment Their chardonay is good, the rest not!

Cooper is the best winery in the area, hands down. The wine is incredible! My husband and I came across Cooper on our relocation drive from PA to WA. When we walked into the rustic, yet chic, tasting barn, we were greeted by the owner, Neil Cooper. He sat with us, poured us 8 samples of his wine, and chatted with us casually. He’s such a great guy, humble, and hilarious. We had an amazing time. At the end of the tasting, he gave us a bottle of his favorite Cabernet«to open on our first night in Seattle»(after our 8-day-long drive across the country to relocate). How generous! In all honesty, my husband and I loved every wine Neil poured(and we are avid wine drinkers, who know what we like!) After an hour of tasting, and trying to rank each wine unsuccessfully, because they were all impressive, we joined the wine club. It’s not often that we find a winery that:(1) we both love,(2) that donates proceeds from its tastings to charity, and(3) is run by a genuine individual who enjoys tasting the wines WITH you!.. not just pouring them and rambling facts like other wineries do. Neil is passionate about his wine, so are we, and so should you.

This is a great stop along the Red Mountain wine trail. Absolutely wonderful wines across the board. Neil Cooper is a great host as is D.B., the winery dog. The ’07 Cabs are all simply amazing. Pick some up before they run out!

This winery is truly remarkable. I’ve tasted many wines and all of Cooper’s wines are smooth, straight across the board. They are the first stop in Benton City as you turn left onto Sunset Road(they are on the left). In the words of a famous old-world philosopher, «From small beginnings come great things.» True – we can prove it. With several years of planning, hard work and determination under our belts, our dream has transformed into a fantastic reality, producing something great we’d like to share with you! Allow us to introduce Cooper: A Red Mountain Winery – the latest addition to the legacy of great wines on Red Mountain in Washington State. A small, family-run operation, Cooper is all about Bordeaux-style reds – quality wines with character and balance crafted from the best Columbia Valley, Red Mountain and Walla Walla Valley vineyards – vineyards ripe with tried-and-true Bordeaux varietals. What sets us apart? Well, our top-notch wines, for one. But consider Cooper something more than a great bottle of wine. We’re a lifestyle – a unique way to share with all wine enthusiasts our values of hard work, dedication to perfection, and determination to always create a product and experience that is truly authentic and satisfying. It’s the Cooper way. Yes, it’s a humble beginning, but we see great things ahead: great wines + great people = great times. You can be part of that equation. Join us, won’t you?
