I really wish I would have taken pictures when I was at this place so I could have documented the 100’s of food safety violations going on up in there. The last time I was here was 5 years ago so I decide to see what they have on sale. I walk in and I see plenty of $ 1.00 sale specials and $ 1.99 Ground beef specials ONLYTOLOOKATTHEEXPIRATIONDATES!!! Many markets will reduce the price of meats for quick sale the day before or day of the expiration date. I have NEVER seen a store ACTUALLYSELLMEAT3, 4 and 6DAYSAFTERTHEEXPIRATIONDATE that is CLEARLY listed on the package as expiring several days before. NEARLYEVERYITEM that is of reduced price is past it’s expiration date but not by a week or so. Some of the frozen items are MONTHS past their expiration date. They had $ 1.00 Jimmy Dean sausage rolls that expired on FEBRUARY2 and this was MARCH29TH! My assumption is they have to be paying off the health inspector because it no way they should be open for business selling Cranberry juice THATEXPIREDINNOVEMBER!!! the deli claims to make the«Largest Hoagies in the area» but when you get your condiments from plastic containers that arent even pre sliced and Ive gotten just as much meat on a Subway foot long as I did here(I left the hoagie because I could see wilted lettuce from the outside of the wrapping) I ended up walking out with a pound of bacon(within the due date) and some cheese. NEVERAGAIN!

I just tried this place after friends in my building told me about it. I am pretty amazed with my purchases. As the gentleman before me stated, watch out for items that are past their expiration date. I left, however with filet mignon, 50 cent box of cookies, 4 hummus and carrot snack packs for 1.00 and oceanspray grapefruit juice for 1.00. I will definitely be coming back! It’s worth the trip.

Pros: Prices on many items are exceptionally low. Slice-to-order tiny deli section. Convenient location for out-of-area shoppers. Specialty cuts(some that I’d never considered eating!), and ethnic specialties. Goat meat. Useful money-saving bonus coupons available online and in local newpapers. They accept food stamps. Cons: Undersized shop, insanely crowded, with narrow, nearly impassable aisles. Moving a few feet can take you several minutes, so budget lots of time for your shopping trip. Ugly, dirty-looking, run-down shop with beat-up shopping carts. Watch out for items past their pull-dates. Many very low quality items. Some technically accurate but misleading or insufficiently informative labels. Frozen bulk items may require you to defrost all of them to get just the few you need for this week. Occasional sloppy butchering technique(cockeyed cutting). No assurance of quality. Many advertised specials not available. With so many deficiencies, I’m amazed they can get the permits to stay in business. …and I still give them 4 stars! Am I nuts? Maybe… …but if you can figure out how to get what you want(and avoid the bad buys), budget enough time, breathe deeply, be willing to toss your shopping list, and think of the experience as quaint instead of maddening, well then, you might just go home with an unforgettable experience and a trunkful of great, low-price food!
