We went on an extended family vacation this summer. My daughter has sort of an interest in rocks, so we stopped by here. It was fantastic! First the kids «panned» for rocks (you could choose little fossils or fancy rocks). Then, they decided to try a thunder egg. The owners helped us choose good ones. The kids got to go in the back to watch the rocks be cut. We were so pleased we had them polished as well. They were wonderful to work with, so friendly and lovely. The prices were quite reasonable, also. We will definitely be going back!

We were vacationing in Sisters, OR and needed to find my brother a thunder egg. Searching Google turned up Sunriver Rock & Gems. My whole family greatly enjoyed our visit to SR&G!
My kids got to choose their own thunder egg and watch it get cut.
As we waited for both rocks to be cut, the owner shared with us his favorite rock formation samples he has on display: naturally occurring square cubes of pyrite!
We plan on going back later this summer and will be taking one of their thunder egg digging trips offered!
Definitely stop and visit if near Sunriver and if you have any interests in Earth history and/​or geology!

Great variety and location. Our boys love it!
