Had a wonderful ham, cheese and chive waffle today! There’s more to this diner than just biscuits and gravy! I’m coming back tomorrow for their mozzarella pesto tomato sandwich on grilled sourdough lunch special!!! Mmmmmmmm

Food was pretty good and the prices are low. Interesting clientele so the people watching is good too. Very old school diner feel to the place. Service was very good but the food is pretty basic. Not bad overall.

Customer service was quite impressive. Our waitress, Liz, greeted us with a smile and happily refilled coffee. We waited several minutes for my sister to arrive… none of us having noticed the scheduled closing time was actually about the time she walked in the door. Our orders were taken with a smile and no impatience. We were still oblivious to the closing time until the waitress returned to apologise and explain one of the soup orders was not available because kitchen staff had discarded the rest when they had begun clean up at closing time. She then took a replacement order, and we were not rushed to eat our delicious reasonably priced food.

Stopped in today for the sweet cream pancakes, so yummy! Also asked for a side of bacon and scrambled eggs. All were perfect. Definitely would recommend these pancakes!

Our second time at Sargent’s was on Saturday morning, Nov. 7, 2015. There were three of us. Food took 40 minutes to arrive. I ordered an egg, pancakes and bacon. My order arrived with egg, VERY crisp bacon, and 2 pieces of french toast. I decided against sending it back for pancakes so we could save some time. Others had the eggs benedict, side of bacon and hot chocolate. Once again, bacon was VERY well done. Thought maybe the hot chocolate would be refilled considering we were waiting for 40 minutes, but that did not happen. Third person had 2 eggs over medium, hash browns, bacon and toast. I’ll give them one more chance.

I bought the turkey club for pickup and I can’t tell you how disappointed I was. The little bit of turkey that was on the sandwich was so dry that it literally tastes like tuna. I’ve tried this place a couple of times and the food has almost always disappointed me. Not going to give the food another chance.

Very inexpensive. Moderate flavor. But very inexpensive. Good for fueling up real quick. Good for an authentic presentation of the ambient culture in Bend. You can get an omelet with pancakes for under $ 10.

Yucky! Stopped in here for breakfast they were kinda busy so didn’t mind having to wait just to order. I ordered a pancake and a side of biscuits and gravy, husband got 2 banana pancakes bacon eggs and hash browns. Had to wait between 30 – 45 min for the food. I got(and charged) for 2 pancakes my husband got his strawberry pancakes? Then told we ordered strawberry, nope sorry. Banana pancakes come back out, NORMAL pancakes with about 5 little slices on bananas on top. Biscuits and gravy were horrible, eggs were cold, pancakes were plain. Hash browns and bacon were good! Service kinda sucked. Overall very disappointed.

Sargent’s Café is THE perfect place for breakfast in Bend! If you are looking for a diner with great food and friendly service, you won’t find a better spot. My wife and I stopped in during a weekend trip and lived the old-school diner atmosphere. On a Sunday the place was packed with locals, all enjoying traditional diner food at a great price. I had the Lava Bear — meatloaf on an English muffin, smothered in sausage gravy. My wife had eggs, bacon and pancakes. You really can’t go wrong here if you are looking for good food in a historic diner setting. It was a perfect way to end our weekend.

I don’t leave many reviews but this time people deserve to know, the food is pretty bad. We had a very friendly waitress, great service, really cute place. but even the pancakes were terrible. My mom’s ham was almost to tough to cut. Enter at your own risk.

The service was so slow. I waited over 45 minutes for my breakfast and it tasted like what I imagine dog food tastes like.

The staff is nice, the price is right, but the food sucks! Yeah they have corn beef, corn beef in a can. My husband ordered kabasa sausage but it ended up being a weenie. The one you get from Costco. My scrambled eggs were more like dirty eggs. So bad I couldn’t even eat them. For a few more bucks I could have eaten at Palmers, Victorian Café, McKay’s Cottage or Chows. My husband and I had to go buy a donut from Delish donuts to get the horrible taste out of her mouth and because we were still hungry. The food was so bad that we actually started laughing. The bill was under $ 20 with tip. You definitely get what you pay for. I had better food in my high school cafeteria than this place. I don’t understand the great reviews at all! Mickey D’s blows this place away.

They have a pancake to end all pancakes. The sweet cream pancake is amazing. I’d give the place a 4 for food but a 5 for service. Stacey is a great server and very friendly. Old school feel. Plenty of space for bigger families.

I ordered their scrambled eggs special without the ground meat and they added broccoli and mushrooms as replacements. Wow! Cindy, our waitress, was attentive, and ensured our coffee cups were full. Meals were delivered promptly. Prices were very reasonable.

Rarely have I gone into a café for breakfast, given my order, and gotten EXACTLY what I ordered. Corned beef hash with two eggs over medium, crisp hash brown and sour dough toasted — not just warmed. Everything was wonderful. An amazing combination of favors done to perfection! Service was fast, friendly and with a smile. I will definitely be eating here the next time I’m in Bend.

Absolutely not fancy, just hometown but clean facilities and delicious food await. Their hamburgers and fresh fries are the best!

Sargent’s Café is what I’d call an all American diner type place. While there’s plenty of great ethnic food joints, sub shops and pizza parlors around, when you just want a great all around American restaurant this is THE place to go! Whether you want a great breakfast, or biscuits & sausage gravy, or something like meatloaf or chicken fried steak, Sargent’s is where you need to eat. Great food, super nice staff, very clean and well kept too. Places like this are pillars of any community, and they’re usually there to stay — for good reason. You just can’t go wrong with a well established place like Sargent’s «Café»(a modern word for diner I suppose — only without all the old retro looks). I’m glad I went to this place, I’m sure you’ll be glad too.

Maybe I went in expecting more than I got or maybe I caught them on an off day. Either way, the food was good and the folks were nice but I didn’t walk away as wowed as I had hoped. We took the kids in for breakfast on a Friday morning and it seemed like it was pretty busy at around 9:30am. Wait staff was pretty attentive and came around with the coffee refills on a pretty frequent basis. I’m a fan of older diners, greasy spoons, and general basic American style breakfast places and this joint seemed to fit the bill. I got the country fried steak while the kids got some French toast and a cheese omelet. The CFS had ample gravy and the eggs were cooked well. French toast disappeared quite readily as did the omelet. So why not higher stars? Well, they brought the wrong toast out(not a big miss so not a huge loss) and ALL of our hash browns were burnt and overdone. Those items combined knocked them down a tad. Next time I’m in Bend I think I will try it out again and see if I’m missing something or if I had an off experience.

This is, hands down, the best breakfast in Bend. The menu is vast, the prices are very affordable, and the food is classic, home-cooked fare that tastes like it was made with love. My chicken-fried steak with pork gravy was one of my meal highlights for the year, and my companion’s Reuben melt was excellent. If I had any complaint it was that the hash browns were cut a bit thick for my taste, but still tasty and my companion loved them. It’s the cheapest breakfast in town, and also the tastiest. I will never dine for breakfast anywhere else again. This place is a local institution that actually deserves that distinction, unlike what Jake’s has become in recent years.
