We were visiting the area and looking for a place to sit outside with our dog and sample some local beer. So far so good. The café is outside of the downtown area in a neighborhood office complex with a nice corner location. The staff was super friendly. The menu has a nice mix of appetizers and entrees and even a tri tip and jasmine rice item for the dog. There is a good selection of beer on tap and several hundred more you can choose from in the attached bottle shop. Prices were reasonable. My wife had a soft pretzel with cheese sauce which she said was o.k. I had the rib appetizer, which I thought was delicious. And yes, our dog had the tri tip, half in a bowl and the other half to go since the serving size was large and she is small. She devoured it!

I have no idea why this place doesn’t have a five star average. Amazing food, great beer, even an entrée for your dog on the menu?! I loved everything about this place. Go.

Great service, the location is ideal, and so many bottles to choose from! I wish that the menu would have been more expansive, but it was very well thought out and they offered multiple GF options.

This is now my favorite place to eat as a vegetarian in Bend. We were passing through and found this tasty corner of heaven. Service is impeccable and friendly. Our dog was allowed to sit with us on the patio and given water and offered special food. We humans ordered a meal to eat there and one to go. The tofu bahn mi was the best, most flavorful meal I’ve had in ages. Husband had the mushroom Philly cheese steak and loved it. We both ordered the tempeh BBQ to go. Food presentation is beautiful and it was so yummy! Family owned business with happy employees and fantastic food. Who could want for more. We were passing through on vacation and that makes me sad. Will have to try and recreate these flavors at home in CA. We don’t have any place as fresh and flavorful in the SF Bay Area.

I like bar food(meat, cheese, fried, etc). I like good bar food. Unfortunately, if you want to eat with friends who are pain-in-the-ass diners(gluten free, vegetarian, etc.) bar food is usually out of the question. Not here. These guys put thought into the menu. There’s something for everyone. I had a «Philly Cheese Dip.» Nothing even remotely resembling an authentic Philly Cheese steak sandwich, but it wasn’t trying to be that. Smoked tri-tip and smoked mushrooms. Delicious. Mac & Cheese excellent side. Good beer selection(duh), friendly staff and good music if you like Phish, Jerry Garcia, etc. And I do.

This place is great. Fantastic beer selection. Pretty awesome food too. My wife has dietary food restrictions and they were able to work with us.

Well, today was a major bummer. Been a long time patron of Broken Top Bottle Shop but unfortunately that relationship has come to an end today, on Easter 2016. I have frequented BTBS for years, with peers from OSU-Cascades and for personal enjoyment as well. But, today, we opened the door of BTBS and the short plumpy blonde woman screeched«YEAWEAREDONE» before my girlfriend and I could even step foot in the door. What an extremely rude woman. Again, she was blonde, short and plump. Working Easter Day behind the bar around 306pm when we tried to go enjoy BTBS. Dang, too bad, I used to love that place.

I’m so sad to only be able to give two stars. This place used to be the best. The tap list, food options and bottled choices are still fantastic… but the service is horrendous. The last three times we’ve gone in we’ve left so disappointed, with the last time being the worst service we’ve had in Bend. We came in a few weeks ago on a Sunday for the 50 cent wing special — an awesome deal. But even the bargain couldn’t make up for the service. It took 20 minutes to get acknowledged to order a beer, about 35 minutes for the wings, then when they brought out the wings they couldn’t remember who had ordered them and put our plate in front of someone else and walked off. The guy flagged the waitress down to tell her those weren’t his, then she said loud enough for all of us at the bar to hear«I don’t know who these go to.» We helped her out and told her they were ours. There are only 2 waitresses working, and I don’t know why but it seems like they’re always understaffed. From our spot at the bar, we saw the wings come up and timed how long they sat there. I don’t want to pay for or eat food that’s been visibly sitting under a warmer for an extended period of time and then taken to the wrong table. Two beers each and one order of 10 wings took more than 2 hours. Save your time and your sanity, and go somewhere else.

Moved back to Bend this summer and I’m seriously embarrassed to have not made this one of our go-to spots until now. Great tap and bottle selection. Menu is unique and offers a welcome change from the typical Bend brewpub.(And the food is fresh, healthy, local, and even better than it sounds!) Confused by the review that said a vegetarian or pescatarian shouldn’t go here… rare to see a menu like this that truly balances the desires of vegetarians and meat lovers alike.

I Come here a lot lately, it’s by my work and is easy to pop in on my way home. The tap beer selection is always changing and the choices are good to amazing most days. They also serve food here but be warned it is a bit spendy and on the verge of a Gastropub. I normally prefer just to stop in for a draft and maybe a beer to go. It is a bottle shop too! But if you are in the mood for something to snack on, the cheese plate is good but you will need to split it. Not because of the portions but the price $$!

Amazing bottle selection. I found so many rare bottles I’ve been looking for here. The staff is knowledgeable and very helpful. Had a short conversation with the owner. He was super nice and got me a box for my haul. They also have food(didn’t eat) and a solid draft lineup. Visiting from California. This is an essential beer stop.

I absolutely love Broken Top Bottle Shop, and I frequent it often since the manfriend lives in the neighborhood. The food here is a wonderful array of vegetarian and carnivore. There are some amazing veggie dishes with tempeh and polenta, as well as stellar wings(go for .50 wing day on Sundays)! They smoke their own meat daily. The beer selection is unparalleled — the rotating draft selection is eclectic and always has something for everyone. The shop is split into the restaurant/bar on one side, and the bottle shop to purchase amazing beverages to take home and taste. They often have live music, show games on the big screen, and bring in local brewers for tastings. My one issue with BTBS is their pricing. Now I am absolutely willing to pay for quality food, but the prices are pretty over-inflated, even for Bend. I recently stopped in to get takeout. I ordered a beer to drink while I waited, the mac n’ cheese, and a side of brocollini. This came to $ 24, which is a little outrageous for pasta and 5 pieces of vegetables. When ordering entrees, if you want to substitute a side, it is $ 4 extra. While I certainly am a fan, and will keep coming back, but the price points are definitely a deterrant from continuing to get food here.

Second time here and was sorely disappointed in the service. My daughter had to send the burger back because it was too rare and it took over 25 minutes to get a new one. She sat there while we ate our entire meal, waitress did not return to the table once during that time, not even to ask if we wanted another drink. Very sad service, guys.

Casual expensive. Don’t go here if you are a vegetarian or pescatarian. At least expect that you will have only a couple choices on the menu. The food is imaginative and my wife really liked the chicken. I had a pricey smoked mushroom burger. It was good. The prices keep me from wanting to go back though. The high prices are the only thing that keeps me away.

Reviewed as both touring Musician & customer. The good: Decent beer selection, apparently they serve food, and not a horrible location. There are cozy chairs for sitting and the room is half-wall separated into two rooms: the bar and the bottle shop. Great hang-out for the bikers, hikers, climbers, skiers, etc to enjoy a pleasant break from cold central Oregon. The not good: this place is a horrible music venue. The booking manager, though a nice enough person, is not fit for booking live music. Your emails will be lost, your set time will change daily, and your payout will be garbage. There is no one to run sound and the«stage» is located by the beer coolers. Moral of the story: come here for beer, run away from it as a venue. Thanks for reading. –JN

This place has been on my list of places to try for ages. Every time I see a review on Unilocal I think, geez, have to get there. Today it happened, for lunch. Here’s how I’m rating it, 3.5 — rounding up to 4 to give them the benefit of the doubt. My lunch(pork belly bahn mi sandwich) = 4 My partner’s lunch(Philly dip) = 5 My service = 2 My partner’s service = 3 Here’s the lowdown as I see it. Understaffed at lunch. One gal handling the bar and serving. Another man, not sure who he was — owner, manager, not sure. Wearing a hat and Good Life sweatshirt on the floor and just glad handing with the regulars. Meanwhile, we wait five minutes to be greeted, no water refill, no check in after we are served. Lacking. Not her fault, there were six tables full, plus three groups at the bar.(What’s this other guy doing besides not pitching in?) My sandwich was good, the side cup of chowder was very good. My partner loved his Philly dip, it was served with chips. There are no french fries, I’m not going to mark them down for this, but I am going to have some bad thoughts about it. No reason to have to wait so long to get in a drink order. Or no reason not to say«be with you in a second» by the third time that you walk by. Or maybe your co-worker could have started the process. I only ordered water, so when my water was empty, I drank my partner’s and it was never refilled. No check in after his beer was finished. No check in on how’s lunch? Took our order, delivered our bill, nothing in between. My partner rates it higher on service, not that his service was any better or worse than me, just more patient. Total bill, two sandwiches, one beer, $ 34 plus tip. That’s on the high side for me. But it was fine. I’m going to try it again, food was good enough that it warrants another visit.

They have a great selection of refrigerated beers and there’s also a restaurant attached. I picked up 6 – 7 beers to-go for $ 25, sweet deal!
